Things don't go perfectly in business. How I rate companies is more about what do they try to do…read morewhen things don't go well? I tried to find a truck online at around 11 PM on a Friday night. This is in the heat of summer where moving trucks are pretty much fully rented out everywhere. I felt pretty lucky to find one with Penske. Well, turns out the online platform wasn't accurate and the truck I'd requested was not available. I heard from Jack at the Earth city location at 7:51 AM the next day! He let me know well in advance of my pick up time that he was sorry but it actually was not available. Honestly, that is good enough service to me for a five star review. That being said, he didn't just let me know it wasn't available, he came ready with alternative options for me to get a truck. This may seem simple, but in a world where people can get pretty apathetic about customer service I was very impressed by it. I'm just a random customer. He didn't need to go above and beyond. But he did. Five stars.

He called his dispatcher from missouri who then called us complaining about the dock back-up and we had no idea who the hell ITC was. They then tried to pull some bullshit with the invoice that we weren't even going to pay to ITC since they were not even supposed to pull the trailer. The app said no equipment wasn't available even though I reserved it already. Returning online took approximately an hour because the U-Haul app kept sending me though a loop. The business reps at Bob's were friendly and helpful. I complained about being charged double for the equipment after I explicitly asked about extra fees for late returns. U-Haul rents for 24 hours one fee. Dealers DO NOT! Be sure to check your amount of reserved hours! After calling U-Haul and the store (about 3 times each) and after several days the double fee for the late return was removed. That was fair. Not an experience I would recommend for anyone but 4 stars because they worked with me to ensure I was satisfied. If you want a better experience you may have to make some phone calls and visits!
