Asked for a lunch sandwich at 9am and he started shaking his head. I told him never mind, and he called me a f****** idiot while I was walking out. Probably for the best- deli case was dirty and sandwich guy was very confused as to why a customer wouldn't choose to purchase their food food after he showed anger/disapproval while taking my order. If this guy can't understand his own social cues I have a hard time believing he's able to remember to wash his hands. Hope you guys can figure this out how to make the angry Q-Tip come to terms with the fact that working at a deli means making food when a customer asks them to.

What a delightful little addition to this community! The General Store re-opened late last year…read moreafter a lengthy hiatus and now some knowledgeable new management. It's certainly a fun stop for anyone motoring between Litchfield and Thomaston. We were drawn to the yummy deli sandwiches (try, for instance, the hot chicken patty) and snacks and the coffee. There are a few tables and chairs for relaxing over your food, and the porch has some really attractive chairs and sofas (too cool outdoors to try them yet). The store carries a modest number of groceries along with a variety of sweets and additional supplies like aspirins, etc. There's a friendly, inviting staff, and easy parking though better be prepared to walk up steps to get in. There is also a large meeting room on the ground floor complete with a commercial kitchen, perfect for groups needing same. Altogether, a joy to stop by, and we wish them well.

We recently needed some air for our tires, and when we stopped the air machine was available for $1.25 (for air???). Two things, though: one, the money goes to a local charity, and two, if you walk in and ask the attendants they will turn it on for free. We needed air in all our tires which took some time, and the attendants weren't bothered at all. Nice guys. A nice policy. They dispense Shell gas at a price equal to or maybe a penny or two lower than neighboring competitors. We're happy to return here.

The gas tank gauge hovered precariously at the 1/3 line, then plummeted to 2/12. Disaster seemed, well, not imminent but forthcoming in the next day. Luckily, Litchfield has one gas station that dares to be open past 10 pm, one that CARES enough for wayward travelers to be able to fill up in the winter at an hour night owls find early. I present the Reena Citgo, a beacon of light in an otherwise cold, dark wasteland with limited cell phone service. The station is a little awkward coming in and out at time, the pumps are right by the road, but if you're running into the service station there is parking and entrance in the back. The prices are a little high, if you're in need of emergency eggs it's so much easier then Stop and Shop.

We really feel it's time for a serious update on the Litchfield CVS. There are several negative…read morereviews from a few years ago, but we believe a close look at this operation over the last 12 months is overdue. And we strongly believe that in just about every way this store has improved. Sure, you can find issues here and there, but let's briefly examine what's going on now. First, the pharmacy has seriously expanded, in space and staff. They can use more people behind the desk for sure, but they are moving in the right direction. And those people have been very professional and friendly in all of our interactions with them. We've gotten a lot of vaccines over the last year, making quick online appointments and getting the shots on schedule. The pharmacists have not shied from offering counsel. Our prescriptions are handled efficiently. In spite of crowds at the pharmacy at certain times, everyone almost always seems to keep their cool. With the restructuring of the pharmacy, shelving at the store has become more crowded and challenging -- there is not infinite space -- but we've found staff helpful in locating specific items. And the cashiers and others working at the store have pretty good attitudes given their increased duties. They can get pissed at times, but then it is often the customers who lead the way (we've watched this unfold too many times, sadly). The stock of seasonal items and cards remains pretty good, and prices aren't outrageous for items we've looked at. Everything here is a bit more cramped than before; that's the downside, but we don't see where they get much room to expand. Anyhow, we have found this CVS to be improved and improving, in most ways, and we feel they deserve credit for that.

And then he says if I don't like it, I can look for another pharmacy. Don't even step in there. Awful, awful service. Another older gentleman was complaining about the same. Came twice, prescriptions not ready. If too much demand hire another pharmacist. Definitely change the two assistants!!!

It's close to the first exit off Route 8 heading north with minimal stop signs to get there, so if you're in a gas pinch it's a happy sight to see. The station itself is pretty clean, and have a wider variety on snacks for the weary traveler then chips and soda. The downside is they don't consistently print their receipts at the pump and going in can require a wait in line.
