A good friend of mine grew up across the street and has talked for years with nostalgia and respect for the authentic and simplicity of Midway. I was passing the other day and got a few sandwiches for us to share - really looking to experience with him what he remembers fondly. Ownership and staff were fantastic. I loved hearing the regulars have very funny (and unedited) banter with them. The store is a semi-well appointed convenient store. Not fully stocked. Lots of random things (the most whiffle balls in one location I have ever seen), and some holes in the inventory. Deli counter straight forward with lots of options. It feels completely authentic. Kind of a throwback in time. I was very happy to have visited. Every so often I'll come through when in the area. Will not be a destination. Take aways - great people. Part of me to was kind of surprised there was actually a deli. I'm not sure why, I had no reason to doubt it. The card board rock and random wiffle ball display was much more surprising. But by and large, it was a regular conscience store, with deli. There was even a small section of seating inside. The selection was pretty much what you'd expect, chips and soft drinks. I ordered a 4' sub and some wraps for a surprised 75th birthday party for 25 people from Midway Market. To a person the consensus was it all was delicious! Many of us grew up in New York where terrific delis dotted the landscape. Midway brought us back to those days! The value and attention to customer service is not worth it here anymore. They once made the best deli food in our town, but no longer live up to the hype. Very rude employees and management. I popped in to ask if they made gyros and was greeted at the door with a heavy set brunette holding trash on her hands and a cigarette in her mouth to which she replied "yah.." well thank you, I now know where I won't but one!! Very good Deli with great sandwiches. It's like a typical convenience store but with much more: premium cigars, free magazines, friendly efficient service and most importantly excellent food. I tried the "Italian zinger", a sub with several Italian cold cuts, notably mortadella, lettuce, tomato, onion, hot peppers. Their sign outside beckons "Home of the best sandwich in town"... and I agree, and look forward to my next visit. Note there are just one or two tables inside--provided for the convenience of customers who wish to eat right there. But for the most part this is a takeout store. read more

The place has gone way down hill since the new owner took over. His attitude sucks. He seems like he's being bothered when asked advice in regard to menu items. The place is dirty and the help is not customer service friendly at all. Gave it three chances and was disappointed each time. I'm done with this place. Solid chicken cutlet on solid bread. I got my chicken cutlet grinder with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo. It was salty, greasy, and everything I needed today for lunch. I'll be in New Milford for the next few weeks for work, and I'm 100% coming back to this place again. read more

Great deli. Awesome breakfast sandwiches and you can't beat the Zinger and mother clicker grinders.

Stopped by to get two grinders and they were delicious. One was on a grinder roll it was turkey lettuce tomato and mayo the bread was so fresh sandwich was awesome. The other was a wrap that was on a jalapeño wrap with chipotle mayo turkey lettuce tomato absolutely delicious. Nice friendly people in the place is clean. read more

My girlfriend went in about an hour ago on her break for a deli sandwich, she ordered a joes special with no onions or tomatoes because she allergic and the lady behind the deli counter pulled a premade sandwich out of the fridge and scraped off the tomatoes and onions. Not even all of it, if my girlfriend had taken a single bite out of that sandwich she would have died and I would have sued Midway Market for everything they're worth. read more

If you like an Italian Sub, like Tony Soprano would have ordered on the way home from a successful day of collections at the BadaBing, try their version, The Italian Zinger. I stopped in for the first time prior to jumping on the highway for a long drive. I wolfed down half within ten miles, awesome! I restrained myself, by throwing the other wrapped half into the back seat (out of sight, out of mind...) and saved it for a later date. Upon arrival a few hours later, I tossed it in the fridge for the following day. I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit, but the second half was the best breakfast I have had in quite some time. I will never eat here again,I got a chicken gyro a very tasteless one at that.If the gentlemen behind the deli counter spend as much time flavoring and preparring the gyro as he did throwing kitchen tools it might have turned out better.I deliver in the area once a week and wanted to give local businesses money,but not this particular one I will just go to big y from now on.The only way this sandwich was edible was by adding my favorite hot sauce.And to top it off I bought a pre made chef salad for later and of course when I delve below the meats and cheese the lettuce is brown and wilted.Just excuse for fresh .Never again will I eat at Midway deli in New Milford,CT.
