Decided to finally put a Spafinder gift card to use yesterday after holding onto it for 2 whole years. It's crazy how difficult Spafinder actually makes things when the terms clearly say "doesn't ever expire" but they do. Idiots. Anyway, this review is about Xtreme Beauty Salon, not Spafinder. Xtreme Beauty Salon is located in Southland Mall in between the carousel and Macy's. It's staffed with approximately 13-14 nail techs and hair stylists combined. They do everything from cutting hair to waxing to nails to eyelashes. I really had no idea just how adorable they were until I walked in and got a quote from one of them for myself. Yesterday I went in after a stressful day at work and the receptionist was very helpful in accommodating me to be serviced right on the spot. She set me up with this fantastic nail tech of whom I can't really remember her name but I know that she's Cuban and her name sounds like "Saturday", or something. Either way, she was the best nail technician I've ever had. I'll be sure to update this review with her real name the next time I check-in. This nail tech was so thorough and clean about how she did my nails. She did exactly as I asked when I told her to file square with rounded corners and the gel polish was not thick at all. She was honest and forward about how she works and I couldn't be happier. My nails look beautiful and just in time for Easter. The salon itself is very busy so I recommend making an appointment to guarantee your spot. I was super lucky as a walk-in this time because aid visited twice before and hey were completely booked. The prices are amazing for the quality service you're getting - at least for the nails. This place should actually be getting no stars. Im very sad to say that the first time I came here to get a balayage it came out well but when I came back for the second time I got highlights ! They clearly don't understand what a balayage is, it's disappointing. I came here with my two little cousins because they wanted a balayage as well and we all got horribly different results. All three of us have the same exact hair color and they said that one of us couldn't get it bleached and the color would have to be honey just because they didn't want to do the extra work. After, my other cousin got an ombre from right above the roots of her hair. They even left the hair dye on for so long that parts of her hair are gray. When they finally finished my hair, they basically gave me highlights all over and now im practically a blonde when all i wanted was a balayage. Horrible experience. The only reason I gave my hair lady a $15 tip is because it took so long. They clearly don't know what they're doing. Highly do not recommend. Este lugar no debería tener estrellas. Rating is for manicure and pedicure!! Pros: - very clean salon - owner is very involved and sweet - hair stylists are always busy cleaning or helping someone - my stylist (long blonde hair) was so sweet and did an amazing job; 5 stars for the hair service Cons: - my appointment was at 2pm and the nail technician told me to wait 10 minutes as we she was working on someone else. 10 minutes turned into half an hour - the technician did not change the towel from TV precious client or clean the tools - she was constantly on her phone which pushed me to leave 2.5 hours after my confirmed appointment time - she nipped my cuticles so bad they bled around three different nails and I had to ask for her to put something on it; she goes in removing the cuticle at lightening speed which made it so stressful; her excuse was that my skin is sensitive! No! This is not my first manicure and pedicure - she does not clean around the nails and got an attitude when I asked for her to redo one of the nails she kept trying to "fix" half ass I would love to come back for my hair but I would NEVER come back for my nails. The other two technicians looked like they knew what they were doing but this young lady was inexperienced and had her head in the clouds while I was bleeding. Thanks but no thanks. read more

I found Milly on yelp many years ago after moving here from Chicago. (6yrs now)I had a very short pixie cut and was afraid I wasn't going to find someone to maintain it for me. None the less Milly met and exceed my expectations. I then was MIA for a while because I got pregnant with my daughter and decided to grow out my pixie cut. She had moved to a new location, and one day I was pleasantly surprised that she had moved to Southland Mall. Even closer to me. I can say that she is always very nice and she treats you like she's know you forever. Another person whose always been super sweet is Arlene. When I first started seeing Milly she was helping with hair washes and now she's the Manager. Today I had the privilege of having Arlene do my Keratin treatment and OMG it's perfect. This review is for eyelash extensions only! Ok, so this is a difficult review for me. Let me start by saying all of the staff I interacted with are super friendly and helpful. Also, the prices are great! I went in three times for eyelash extensions and they only charged $40 each time, $48 with tip. However, none of this makes up for the terror that resulted. I have been getting my lashes done for a year now and had an amazing expert in Denver who I miss very much, Once I moved to Miami, I started with someone else who I really enjoyed but I had to leave because she was dealing with personal issues and had to take a break. I went to Xtreme Beauty Salon and was super excited about the price. Not only that, she did my lashes in only 45 minutes, which was a red flag that I ignored because it was nice to finish so fast. I loved the way my lashes looked, for about two days. They started falling off quickly but the shedding stopped after a few days. This made me think it was something I was doing so I researched best methods to clean lashes in humidity and switched my routine. I had to go back only 13 days after the first application. My lashes would normally last 3 weeks. After the second time, I would wake myself up at night scratching the sides of my eyes. I would wake up with dry skin on the sides of my eyes. It was strange because my eyes did not itch where the lashes were, aside from on the outer edges. I started to doubt the new technician but could not find a replacement close enough to where I live within my price range. I nervously went a third time. I knew as soon as I walked out I would never return. After waiting 30 minutes past my appointment time, the technician finished my lashes in a surprising 15 minutes. The next couple of days were filled with sleepless nights, constant itching, and lashes falling with my own still attached. Four days later, I had less than half of the lashes left and a ton of empty gaps where my own lashes used to be. I have never had an issue with fake lashes taking off my real ones. I frantically called my old technician to see if she was back in biz, which she is. When she came to my house to do my lashes, she was shocked to see the train wreck on my eyes. Turns out the lady at Xtreme Beauty Salon had been slopping on glue on my eyelid and then carelessly throwing lashes on top. Each lash is supposed to have its own glue and be placed meticulously on each individual lash. My technician was able to remove some of the lashes but had to leave a lot on because the glue was so caked on from the past three applications that it was impossible to remove the lash. Turns out the itching eyes was due to the improper lash applications. On top of that, I was washing them correctly. Both methods I used were appropriate. Purchsed the GroupOn for their eyelash extensions, never again. I was very dissatisfied from the customer service the second I walked in the door. They rushed me to get to my appointment on time, calling me 10 minutes prior to my appointment time to ask if I was coming, and the woman who was to do my lashes was not even ready for me when I got there for another 20 minutes. Then the eyelashes....the glue was so clumpy and looked so uneven and terrible. When I made a comment after about why it looked like clumpy mascara, she just said its that way. I also had gaps where she missed lashes, and they weren't even in a straight line in some spots. I had smudged black glue on my upper eyelid and asked if she could carefully remove it for me so that I wouldn't ruin something myself, she told me to go home and do it myself. There was no care instructions given, but I had done all my research for do's and dont's of lash care, and by the next day before I even had my first shower I had lost one of the lashes and was left with a gap. Needless to say, the fill-in that I also purchased with the GroupOn will not be used! One week after application, I removed what was left of the disaster with coconut oil and steam at home. I have never really been committed to a certain hair stylist until I went to Xtreme. Milly does my hair. She's excellent with color. Unlike other hair dressers that'll dye your hair whatever color you want with out warning you the damage or the complications you might have afterwards, Milly is always very honest. She let's me know what color will look good on me, what might be a pain to get rid of, etc. Edeilys does my nails and she is the BEST! My nails always look top notch when I get them done with her. She takes her time taking out the cuticles and does a great gel mani. One downside is not everyone is fluent in Spanish, but a 15 dollar haircut and 30$ mani & pedi makes it completely worth it. read more

I went to get my hair done for prom and I asked for a simple blowout and curls and this lady only used about two sprays of hairspray after she had curled everything. The curls were gone by the time I got to my car. I was super upset and my hair looked entirely straight for the entire night. Literally had the most violent experience getting acrylics on. She had an attitude when I asked if she had time, and if she didn't have time I would have rather her said no than do my nails like she had some personal vendetta against my fingers. I was actually yelling OW out loud and she didn't stop. I asked if she could make the acrylics short like my other nails and she didn't. So they are longer than all my other nails and they look stupid. And I asked her to use the electrical buffer on my other nails and she said she would but she just unplugged it and put it away. First of all, the lady doing my nails was saying nasty things about me in Spanish just because I spoke to her in English. I know because I speak Spanish, I just don't look hispanic. The hair dresser was a very nice lady but, comepletly messed up my hair color. I had low lights and told her to touch up my roots with a lighter tone becasue I have been gradually stripping the black color out of my hair to lighten it up. She not only dyed my hair pitch black but the $120.00 to strip off I had been paying at another salon for 6 months went into the trash. As if that was not enough the woman dyed my forehead, ears, and neck and it took me rubbing in a dye skin stain remover for two days to remove the stains. I do not recomend dying your hair here.
