Rich and I feel so lucky that we live in an area with outstanding medical care from our primary care doctor; to the cardiologist, who did pre-op work-up; to Dr. Oristian; to Holy Cross Hospital's surgical staff. Dr. Oristian took his time to explain why Rich's condition did call for surgery, to explain the process, and our options. When there was a very minor concern after the surgery he called us immediately and checked back with us two times that evening to ensure that it was indeed a minor complication. As Rich was waiting for his surgery to begin a volunteer stopped to talk to us and said he had had the same procedure 3 times. He said he had asked various nurses who he should use for his surgery and they all recommended Dr. Oristian. I have always thought if you need a physician referral, talk to a nurse. They know. Also, we noticed that he was named a top surgeon, a peer reviewed honor, in the latest Washingtonian Magazine. Not only was Dr. Oristian 5 stars but so was his staff. I don't wish surgery on anyone but highly recommend Dr. Oristian if needed. I just mentioned to Rich I was writing my review and he chimed in "5 stars is not enough!".

The original dentist we went to didn't want to touch it. The specialist they recommended us to didn't want to mess with it. We did a lot of searching on the web and found this office and we are so happy we did! Dr. Longwe's office got us in pretty quickly for the consultation. He was very nice and patient with Grandma Nina, especially as she only spoke Ukrainian. He took his time with her and made her feel like a human being, instead of someone to shove into a chair and back out the door, like many dental practices. The next week was the extraction and Dr. Longwe handled it very quickly and professionally. The tooth came out in several pieces, but Grandma Nina scarcely felt any pain. All in all, he did the work in 10 to 15 minutes. He sewed up her jaw and gave her gauze pads to take home. Grandma Nina was so grateful she gave him a hug! It's the next day and Grandma Nina's face has almost no swelling. She no longer needs the pain medication and is doing quite well. From now on, Dulles Oral Surgical Center will handle all our oral surgical needs.

Basically I'm out $7600 because the billing specialist doesn't seem capable of filling anything out properly. She's very nice over the phone but I've had maybe 3 different claims submitted to insurance and none of them have been done correctly, according to UHC. She says she's been trying to get Dr. Longwe to be in network, but it's taking years. I had to pay nearly $10,000 up front but I figured it would be fine since UHC told me they were in network and that the procedure would be covered under my medical plan. Well neither has turned out to be the case because of how the claim has been submitted. Oh, and there's only one billing specialist, Katie. So if she's out of the office, you're out of luck. Again, she's very nice, but I don't know if she really knows how to do her job correctly. On to my actual experience... when I got my wisdom teeth extracted previously, I had no real issues. However when I got my coronoidectomy done, I had severe pain and woke up before the procedure was finished. My eyes were open and everything. I asked for more painkillers and was basically told too bad. Dr. Longwe had said "your jaw will be sore for a couple of weeks." Yeah, that was an extreme understatement. I was in extreme pain for multiple weeks. I was given no additional instructions for aftercare. It feels like my jaw has still not fully healed over 6 months later. I am planning on getting someone else to look at it to make sure I don't also have to worry about potential medical negligence.

She pulled together a team of the best diagnosticians and although it took a few years, she figured out that I had one of the rarest of diseases. And she promised that together, with experts at NIH, we would figure it out. She got me into a trial of the biologic drug, Xolair, which made a tremendous difference. But the rarest disease, hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES), took 5 more years to get a new biologic. But the miracle was that with the first injection of it, I went into complete remission. Unfortunately she moved from the major practice she was in to a smaller one for several years, so I have missed her. I'm hoping to hear soon that she takes my new insurance and will take me back as a patient. Most patients will never have to deal with the complexities this fatal disease brings to treatment for asthma and complex allergies. He did not disappoint. During the initial tests and conversations, he actually took me seriously when I discussed my symptoms and problems, and then he prescribed me a combination of medications for maintenance of my allergies that worked much better than any other I had taken. He even scheduled follow-up visits, checked in with me, and talked my options through with me when the maintenance drugs just weren't doing quite enough. We decided that, under my current circumstances, doing allergy shots might be best. I have been receiving them for a few months now, have had no complications or problems, and am actually beginning to notice some differences in my health. His hours for administering allergy shots are excellent for people who work, too. He has three locations, but I have only been to the Rockville and Chevy Chase offices. The Rockville office is actually shared with an OB/GYN practice, but it's still very comfortable (nice big couches to sit and read while you're waiting for him to check your shots). He has a great personality, too, and we have definitely had many a pleasant conversation during my many, many visits to his office. In short, he is truly a great doctor, and I would recommend him to anyone trying to overcome their debilitating allergies and asthma problems.

I walked into the offices to a smiling staff, who took the time to talk to me, and to ensure they understood what my symptoms were, and my history. Anna Maria did my ultrasound and walked through the veins with me to explain the results and ensure I didn't have any questions about the process. She was personable and focused immediately on ensuring that I didn't have DVT in any smaller veins, a traveler's fear. A huge sigh of relief. I then met with Dr. Neimat who did a full exam. His prior experience at a top cardiologist also helped with understanding root cause and family history. Dr. Neimat then met with me in his office to review the findings, explain how it manifested, and explain my options. He took the time to discuss everything, and ensure that I wasn't left with any open questions. Did I mention that at no time did I feel rushed, or like a number? Fast forward to today - I had a couple of surgeries to resolve the situation and am now pain free. I am now able to enjoy hiking and traveling again, and am so happy that I found this practice.
