My initial appointment was a frightening time for me and although the condition that brought me there didn't turn out to be serious, Dr. Kurzrok took it seriously. I found him via the Washingtonian magazine's best list, which has always done me right. He has several locations and I went to the Providence hospital one. At one point, he wasn't sure what was going on and referred me to someone he felt was a better doctor. I've since come back to Dr Kurzrok because of his personality. He challenged me to be healthier as a means of avoiding further incidents and while I can see how that might come off as abrasive to some people, it was just what I needed.

We traveled from Bethesda to Washington Hospital Center specifically for those appointments. After we arrived, we were told that only my appointment existed. The staff then informed my wife that she had supposedly been removed from the practice because of an unspecified incident from about 10 years ago. No one could explain what had happened or why she had never been informed before we made the trip. I questioned why this had not been addressed before we drove into Washington and why no one could provide a clear explanation. Instead of trying to resolve the situation or apologizing for the confusion, the response became even more troubling. Although I had a scheduled appointment, Dr. Kruzrok came out personally and told me that he would not be seeing me either. From my perspective, my appointment was canceled because I respectfully stood up for my wife and questioned how we had been treated. Whatever happened to the Hippocratic Oath? Rather than provide the medical care I had traveled there to receive, Dr. Kruzrok chose not to see me. That decision was deeply disappointing and, in my opinion, inconsistent with the professionalism and compassion patients should expect from a physician. The issue here is bigger than one doctor. It reflects a culture of poor communication, lack of accountability, and disregard for patients' time. We rearranged our day, traveled into Washington, D.C., and left without either of us receiving the care we had scheduled. I found Dr. Kruzrok's demeanor to be smug and self-righteous, and his handling of this situation fell far short of what I expect from a physician. Based on this experience, I have no confidence in either Dr. Kruzrok or MedStar Health, and I cannot recommend either.

Everything about the entire experience was truly professional and first-class, including Dr. Chu's staff and state-of-the-art equipment. Dr. Chu's expertise and experience speak for themselves - he's brilliant and skilled, yet kind and even humble. He educated me about cataracts, and later performed cataract surgery on each eye. Unfortunately, his office staff isn't the most professional but they do always gave him my messages and called in my rx refills. Dr. Galdi himself was a little strange and didn't really want me to do any talking, "just the facts ma'am." My migraines improved somewhat, but I have added acupuncture twice weekly. Dr. Galdi's style of patient management is actually 'telephone-management": you don't come in again, you just call, leave a message and then he calls you back between 12 and 1pm. The problem is he tells you to call back in X number of days and then he just changes meds again. I feel like I'm talking to a robot for the 60 secs he's on the phone. Sorry, but I need a flesh-n-blood person and have since switched practices.

A half hour later I asked about the wait. I was told Dr. Wagner handles everything himself, just wait and he will get to me. After a full hour of waiting, Dr Wagner emerged, called my name and then asked if I had completed the form. The "sign in" cover sheet had said to sign in and in black and white letter said if new patient fill out form to the left. So I had missed that. No one asked me or reminded me about it in the full hour I was there. I said I hadn't and he told me I needed to fill out a front and back form that took me literally 2 minutes. He proceeded to take the next patient because I hadn't filled out the form even though I had waited one hour. Staff and a supervisor insisted it was not their job to say anything to new patients. I had called this practice a couple times ahead of the visit and asked about forms to complete ahead of time and was told there weren't any. I found that strange and often fill out forms ahead, especially online, as a new patient. In any event, the disregard this office showed for new patients and the one hour wait time made me realize the office was not for me.

I sent a message regarding this to Dr. Patel, and all I got was an out of the office response. So, the circus starts all over again. I am disappointed with MedStar to allow such poor care to be acceptable. Their doctors are overworked, and I wonder if Dr. Wexler even has a staff based on the nonresponses I've received for so long. It is unbelievable ill people must go through so much just to get a prescription. If you want a doctor who responds to your needs, look for someone who cares enough to read his e-mails and has a staff who calls back.

It's not him, it's the staff that reads his emails. Unfortunately, what happens is a lot of messages have the same general questions. Which equates to a cookie cutter approach and the only person that feels its an emergency is the patient. Might I suggest when you visit his office get acquainted with his STAFF. How you interact with them and how friendly you are will make them remember you when you call or send a message.
