An amazing team, and a moral team. When you hire partners; the issue is determining how much you can trust them. Honestly you do your research, but never truly know until you have finished an entire project with a partner. Although in this case your adding a 10 out of 10 partner to your team! They were supportive when you needed them; they kept things simple and easy in written form and just produced the effective result. Although most importantly they supported post the City's bureaucratic/intrusive/wasteful and impacting adjudications. Which is really where you need good engineers. City permitters are always going to create unnecessary roadblocks and impacts that are not real just to justify their power base. These guys helped myself through all of it. Hire them; got lucky had a neighbor who had alot of work done by them refer them. Was a really positive and lucky outcome for me. They will do the same for you. read more

Just want to be a little bit more fair about these guys. They were indeed slow then unresponsive in getting back to me, but I subsequently spent time reading through the city's ordinances and regulations about ADUs, as well as time on the phone with a planner. You do have to be very thorough and persistent in your questioning with the city, or you won't walk away feeling that you have an understanding of what you can or cannot do. I got the answers I needed by doing that - it took some time - but it saved me from having to pay these guys to get me where I got on my own. If you do more homework than you feel like with the city, you might have a better starting point. Good luck from there. read more

Our General Contractor R&L Construction recommended Yaghi to us. We did a nearly complete teardown and doubled the square footage of our single story ranch house to 3,500 sqft. After a bad experience with another engineering firm these guys were a breath of fresh air. They were fast and perfectly priced. William turned around corrections requested by the county in a day to keep progress moving. I'm told they are well respected by most cities which does a lot for getting plans approved. Yaghi "Chuck" first came out and contradicted what all our previous designers and engineers had told us. We originally wanted to go from 8-foot to 9-foot ceilings in half the house. Others wanted a complete tear down of the 8-foot walls while Chuck recommended easy alternatives (4x12 header) that saved us a ton of money. And just as he stated the permitting department had no problem with it. Throughout our project we dealt with about 15 different contractors and subcontractors. I gave a 2000$ deposit in April. Didn't hear back from them until the middle of June. They decided they should keep 750$ of the deposit after only doing sketches. Every time after I asked for my deposit back I could never get Al to call me back. The only person that would talk to me was the assistant. read more

We chose them because they seemed realistic about the scope of our relatively small job (small load bearing wall removal), were reasonably priced, and could get the work done sooner than their competitors - all of which proved to be true. It was also significant to us that they were in Orange, new how the City of Orange worked, and could point us in the right direction on how to move forward with permits - again, all of which proved to be true. Al was our engineer and he was both pleasant to work with and competent. When I turned in the plans to the city the lady said they looked well done and should be approved in a week. They were actually approved in a day. This allowed our construction to move forward sooner than planned which was a huge bonus. I would work with them again in a heartbeat. read more

Joseph Phan & Associates is not a company. He works out of his home on 15182 Summerwood St. Westminster, Ca. 92683. He works on his own time and not yours. Very incompetent of his work and knows nothing about city codes. His associates (Yaghi Shucri Consulting Engi Irvine, CA) is even worst when it comes to measurements. They waste 10 months of my time and 12,000 dollars and there works is not accepted by the county. Now I have to hire another company to finish there Kindergarden works. My best advice is don't hire these people even if they were doing it for free. read more
