There is a lot going on at this park that goes by a few names on the other site but there are signs…read morehere that provide the name: Whitley Branch Veterans Park. Disc golf course, pickleball courts, multiple playgrounds, several picnic shelters. It goes for maybe a half mile along Dixie Street with multiple entrances. At 7am on a Sunday, there was a good bunch of folks walking. It's clear that some people use the park for a "morning meetup" as they get in their steps and that was nice to see. The park is in excellent condition with neatly mown grass, no trash anywhere and all of the equipment I saw was cared for. The playground had several things to climb on, slide down and swing on. Plenty of parking near the covered picnic shelter that had picnic tables and trash cans and a charcoal grill. There is also a dog park here but I didn't see it this morning. Small State park with a campground. Level concrete sites. Full hookups. Great walking short flat…read moretrails. Frisbee golf course and fishing as well as kayaks on the lake. Campground drive is narrow and tight for larger rigs. Check your campsite measurements as some are shorter than others. Crowded on the weekends but still not loud. Everyone seemed very friendly. We were there over the weekend and no issues. Great place to walk the dogs and unwind.

The camp area has its own little playground area and I believe showers are available. 3 shelters with picnic tables are available for rent. They have put in a disc golf course which isn't for me, but apparently it's a popular sport. There is one basketball court. Cons: crazy amount of geese pooping everywhere on the walking trails. The pool closed years ago and it would be a better camping area for families if there was a splash pad.

Had to disconnect water and electric to move the RV closer so my hose would reach the sewer. Not good! UPDATE: three days later and on our way back I tried dialing about 14 times while on Interstate 75 and the call wouldn't go through and not because of my phone because I had three bars most of the time so we had to keep driving because maybe they shut down

We first stopped at the visitor center and we were thankful that there wasn't a lot of people inside. Staff here is very quiet and they weren't too interested in giving us a excited speech walking us to the area like most places probably would. Wasn't a big deal but this place has a nice gift shop and plenty of cool history and facts to check out. We then checked out the scenic Overlook which I have a separate review for. Then followed by going to the bridge that you drive through. Overall, I thought this place was a great little detour to check out and to rest my legs. Plenty of great things to see

Amazing park, pretty big and with tons of running trails. Perfect for bikes and walking, golf course seems pretty good also. Have this small office with a park ranger there where I suppose that there´s some one to give you information. Free entrance and the road is really easy to drive, no difficult to get there. I can´t tell if you can camp there, because like I said, there was no one around to ask. Anyways, was lovely to see that there are this kind of parks and really there are a lot of parks around here in KY! Safe travels!!

There are several other hikes you can do. This is very easy going down but be ready for coming back up. Steep but go slow, watch your footing and take step by step! For sure bring a bottle water with you and do in the morning. It is very cool to do and it brings life to pineville. There is several spots to camp and chill as we saw on drive up the mountain!!
