Along came Lil' kickers where our four year old is learning to play soccer and running off a lot of energy in the process! He space is very nice. It was just me and an old caucasion man and his what looked to be grandkid, I parked fine and the next second the old man crashed into me front behind sending my neck and head jolting forward, my parents then asked the workers how that happened and they said they did not engage the system in the engines to make they slow down for parking. So I was crashed into at full speed, we left after and my parents asked the man "How did you crash into my son?!" He said "I confused the pedal and the brake." Like come on how does that even happen and it also seemed like a way of him showing off to his grandkid but even if the confusion between the brake and pedal is true should he even be driving the go karts? And better yet on the actual road? The Yakima family fun center has failed to ensure safety. So be careful next time your on the go karts.

The long-awaited Chesterley YMCA is finally here and it was worth the wait! It's a great example of…read morea public private partnership that has been many years in the making. Located in Chesterly park, just off 40th and River Road, it's easy to get to and go from. The place has tons of different spaces within, including an aquatic center for kids with a number of waterslides, including two that actually go out the building and inside again, as well as waiting pools and a small lazy river. The place gets busy on weekends, but thus far hasn't been overwhelming! There's a large Olympic size pool for laps as well as an adults only warmer pool and a bit ole hot tub! Downstairs is a very nice basketball court As well as locker rooms and family locker rooms. All of the lockers are day use only, so it shouldn't create the issues of not being able to store your stuff anywhere. Upstairs love the free weights, nautilus machines, treadmills/elliptical machines and a running track. All the machines allow you to track your progress over time as well. Memberships are very affordable, especially for families, and This is a great addition to the valley and provides Another great place for kids to go during the year, and especially in the winter months.

The park is and has always been well maintained. The park has evolved and added overhead nets to protect the fans, which is an added bonus. The parking is always plentiful, and I have seen RV's parked around the perimeter of the parking area, so I guess it must be allowed. The park says dog allowed, but it is at the discretion of the tournament director, and for the state tournament, it was a no dogs allowed. The fields are always well maintained. The food and drink choices are a bit limited, and the restrooms seem to be inadequate since there always seemed to be a line. The park is in close proximity to stores, hotels, and restaurants. Price (6/10): It was about $130 per player. I believe this is the non-resident price so it could be cheaper. The course was sick and I was fine paying it after we finished, but still pretty pricy for a Yakima public course. Overall (10/10): Pricing won't make me not give this a 10/10. I have played many courses where they are working, don't get me wrong. At least they pull to the side and turn off the engine, not here. A great little known park by the Yakima river, on the way into Selah and with access to the…read moregreenway path and the Selah ridge hike on the William O Douglas trail. Access to this park is off of Resthave road just before you get to the exit for Selah. Take the exit, turn left and cross the freeway to go down into the park. The parking lot here has room for 50+ cars. There are a couple nice covered areas with picnics tables and a number of grills placed throughout the park. There's a lone bathroom at the east end of the park near the greenway path. The grassy area here is excellent for running around, having a picnic or just taking a stroll! A greenway auxiliary path runs into the park and provides access to the main pathway as well as an offshoot to Selah ridge where you can hike a section of the William O Douglas trail up the hill. A very nice park with access to the greenway, the river, Selah ridge and picnic areas - what's not to love!

A delightful park located just off 40th Avenue, near the entrance to the freeway. Known by older…read morelocals as the place where all the St. Helen's ash was dumped. Traditionally used for soccer tournaments and over the year, they've added a skate park, a great jungle gym and some bike paths. There are 6 full size soccer fields, tons of space to run and a large picnic shelter for a BBQ of any size! The bike path also leads straight down to the greenway path that will get you to Naches or Union gap, depending on which way you turn. We come down here with the little dudes and our cycle tends to include a chance to kick/throw a ball, take a bike ride over to the play structure, hang for a bit and then go over and watch other kids skateboard. Never fails to entertain for at least an hour or two. A great multi-use park with plenty to do and lots of room to run off energy.
