You have to appreciate that in small corners of this land, there are still rollarenas. For people of a certain age bracket, these rarified destiniations are assumed to meet a certain quota of nostolgia and absurdity whence you push through the doors. Richland's own Rollarena Skating Center delivers across the spectrum of stereotypes. A beautiful mid-century structure (with some bruises), you are immediately struck by the curved wooden beams and neon cursive lighting spelling out "Rollarena" at the far end. If you're lucky, you'll witness the Hokey-Pokey or Shoot-the-Duck to really envelope you with a flood of childhood memories. Hit the snack bar for some seriously unimpressive pizza or nachos or a slushee to really get those skates moving. Marvel at the bizarre and colorful carpet (where does one get this pattern for their house?!). Hit the gaming corner at the back of the rink and rock some mini-hoop or skee-ball. It hits all the points that you remember and want. Bring the kids or bring your friends and have a fun night out doing something you rarely do. read more

I called directly to skating link to make sure opening business hours correct as on Yelp, I have been told on Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. When I arrived with 3 granddaughters little after 2:58pm man at the window told me they are closing in 2 minutes, I had same experience last time. I had to drive to distance to pick up kids, here we go again I couldn't believe person working there never can tell actual business hours over the phone. They keep telling me the incorrect hours. I don't know how they expect us to come when they are really open for business. It's amazing they are still in the business. read more

We went on a Friday night family date. We all brought our own quads. Our oldest daughter received her pair as a gift and they were purchased there so she got to skate for free (you get one month of free skating if you buy skates there). This throwback is fun for everyone and it's nice that roller rinks can still exist. The age and cultural demographic was all over and creates a nice comfortable all-inclusive environment in a city where that is not always easy to find. The music was safe and eclectic with interruptions of hokey classics like the Cha Cha Slide and couples skate, which none of us were into, we all just wanted to skate. Overall the place is pretty sweet. The bathrooms can be a bit slippery if your on skates and could use some slip-resistance. The cardboard pizza and liquid cheese smell is a bit much, and you can't bring your own snacks in so don't try it. We'll be going again though, most likely on Wednesdays for the parents skate free session from 330 to 530. read more

The Richland Rollarena has apparently been there providing 8 wheeled entertainment in the Tri's for years. It sure seems like every native Tri-Citian has a story about going there. As a middle school teacher my colleagues and I are always looking for ways to provide kids with a quick (and cheap!) outing as a reward for meeting goals or working hard academically. Cue a trip of 120 honor roll 12 and 13 year olds invading the Rollarena. The noise, a mixture of throbbing old and new pop music and pre-teen screaming, could quite possibly be heard a couple blocks away. The cheap cost of $5 ($4 for private parties) allows for entry and skate rental is free. For an additional $2 you can go big time and hit up the deluxe in-line skates. The staff is super friendly and definitely easy-going. One example would be when one not-so-balanced boy and a plate of nachos met the ground after a slow-motion wobbly 5 ft trek from the snack counter to the table. It would be more correct to call it a 3 ft. trek since the nachos never made it to the table.... They did make a most glorious arch up about 8 feet into the air only to land with a nasty sounding splat alllllllll over him..... about 2 seconds after his backside hit the ground with a crash. The staff served him up another batch and smiled as they came out to clean up the floor. Going roller-skating is good clean fun and supporting a local business is always a good thing. This one is a definite place to try with kids! read more

Someone that loves skating should buy this place, because right now it is being regulated to death. No personal music is allowed and the house music was terrible. They rent speed skates yet do not allow fast skating. I definately felt ripped off and chose not to return. read more

I looked up hours of operation and then called to verify hours for a Friday night skate. I spoke with the owner and they stated that their hours are 7:30pm-10pm for Fridays; so I brought my kids and some friends to skate; We arrived at 8pm (assuming 2 hours would be worth the money for everyone). At 9:40pm, they told everyone to get off the floor and clear the rink, demanding that only ages 15+ could speed-skate for the next 20 minutes. I asked them what was going on and they stated the owner requires them to do this. if their hours are 7:30 pm-9:30pm, then that is what should be posted and stated when someone calls. It is very unprofessional for them to clear out paying patrons 20 minutes early. read more

My kids and I love skating here. They do activities during the public skate times that are optional and totally fun. We have had a birthday party here. The package was reasonably priced and the host was fantastic. She kept everything flowing smoothly and took so much pressure off of us which allowed us to enjoy the party time too. The owner aggressively harassed my daughter for sitting quietly with her service dog. He got about 6 inches from her face. The dog was under the table out of the way and was doing exactly as he should, not causing any trouble in anyway, most people didn't even know he was there. Multiple people witnessed this situation. I wasn't standing right there because I had multiple kids there. So it seems like the owner is a coward who saw a vulnerable teen with out the parent present and chose to act that way, my daughter doesn't want conflict and chose to stay polite. We have been there before in other groups and the owner is generally grumpy but has never singled someone out until last week. We kept going anyway because it's a place to skate. The saving grace is a particular employee (the assistant manager I believe) who is really awesome and understanding. I hope he pays her well enough for holding that place together. She is the only reason I would consider ever going back with my kids or any of the groups we are a part of that support this place. read more

I spent every Friday night here in middle school and it was awesome! Since then, I hadn't really gone until I found out they did skating lessons for children. We signed my 3 year old up and they've been just awesome! While I haven't been for 'free skate' since 2002, the place has gotten a new paint job, new carpet, and a friendly staff. He was just having fun and I guess he laughed to loud because the manager, Dusty or Dustin (something like that) started yelling at him to shut up. Really?? It's a noisy rink!! I was appalled. This is a great place for the Tri cities. The staff is great and consistently kind and helpful. The concession stand offers a good variety of snacks and beverages at a decent price. The nachos and criss cut fries are the best. The souvenir shop has a pretty good selection at really good prices. Overall the rollerina Is great entertainment at a reasonable price. OMG. I hadn't been here in years. I remember going to the Rollarena for high school gym class. It looks almost exactly the same, though they've updated the carpet and the rental skates (thank god!). It took most of the Friday night session for my leg muscles to remember that they knew how to skate. Bruised my tailbone and ego pretty badly...but it was fun. Great place for families! read more
