I had a great lunch with a co-worker today at Yakiniku Korean while visiting from the Coast and I'm so glad I did! I've eaten at a couple of Korean restaurants on the coast and I really enjoyed their version of Beef Bulgogi Bento Box (12.99) that came with soup, option of gyoza or spring rolls, salad, and steamed or fried rice. You also get the banchan, which included kimchi, pickled cucumber, and pickled daikon radish. Service was excellent and very helpful. I definitely want to go back and try the Korean barbecue option at the table. read more

I was skeptical when I saw their menu and it was a little daunting to choose our food items but the food is AMAZING. I had steak hibachi and it was perfect. They use good quality meat. My husband had the beef tongue, which he grilled himself at the table. The service was excellent and the food from the kitchen came out quickly. We have a new favorite spot. Yakiniku is my new favorite restaurant in Jackson. Delicious Korean BBQ! Not too many other options for Korean BBQ in Jackson, but after you eat here you won't need other options. I took my family and we devoured the pork bulgogi and beef bibimbap. Both were incredible. We also ordered the pick 2 where you get to grill your own meat at the table, which the kids loved. We chose flank steak, pork, chicken miso, and shrimp. The mochi is a solid pick for dessert. My only complaint is the suggested tip on the bill suggests 20%-35%... I always tip well but this just rubbed me the wrong way (especially when I cooked half of the meal). read more

This was a an excellent medium filet of beef steak. The veggies were delicious! The pickled table accompaniments were perfect for palette cleansing. The service was spot on! I would recommend just ordering off the menu, rather then self cooking. Shelf cooking is highly over priced and bare minimum condiments. For the price you're paying for meats and vegetables, condiments sauces should be appropriate amount. You have to hunt your server down to get oil for cooking, while your food is burning or just sitting waiting 2 or 3 minutes until your server finally shows with cooking oil. I've been to several restaurants like this, this was the worst one for service and food. read more

This place is great. I love the service and atmosphere here. The food is alway great. My wife and I have been coming here since they opened. I love Yakiniku "which is Japanese BBQ". They bring out your food uncooked but seasoned and you have a grill in the center of the table. You cook your meet and vegetables the way you want them. This is served with soup and fried or white rice. They also bring out sauce and some small bits like pickled radish, kimchi, and sometimes potatoes. The staff will even teach you how to use the grill if you need help. If you're not into the thought of cooking they offer a whole cooked menu. It includes lots of Asian staples like hibachi as well as Asian appetizers. The staff are friendly and helpful with a great attitude. The local is amazing they lots of Asian decorations and TVs playing cooking shows. The restaurant has always been clean and up to my expectations. read more

Me and my husband had entirely too much fun coming here!! We will definitely be back!! Everyone was so amazingly nice and wonderful customer service, that you can't find at a lot of places at all. We even were brought sauces and appetizers to try off the menu. We made the food ourselves and it was so easy and fun! They had super simple directions at the table and then also show/tell you or offer to cook for you. Also tons of food from the back to order. So, I have to disclose that I'm half-Korean; my experiences with Korean food is personal. That being said, when I'd heard that a Korean BBQ place was opening up in Flowood, literally down the street from my neighborhood, the first in Jackson, I was beyond ecstatic! We went on a Tuesday night as a large group so we could order multiple items. First gripe: they do not have large tables to accommodate large parties; they split our party of nine into two adjacent tables. Second gripe: aside from kimchi, cucumber, and peanuts (!), this place doesn't serve the numerous traditional ban chan plates that normally accompany Korean BBQ. When we inquired and discovered that the owners are actually Chinese, we lowered our expectations. We ordered: gyoza (meat-filled dumplings/potstickers), fried avocado, and seafood pancake. All were good. The fried avocado had panko coating, was not greasy and was accompanied by yum yum sauce. The seafood pancake was not greasy nor fishy. It had great texture and taste. It was weirdly accompanied by a sweet plum sauce rather than a more traditional soy-sesame dipping sauce. We also had: "Korean glass noodles", called japchae. The traditional noodles are made with sweet potato starch noodles and this version was good; there were shiitake mushrooms! We tried two versions of kimchi soup and both were just okay as they could have been thicker/heartier. We had two different versions of bibimbap, beef and also shrimp. Both versions were really good and generously portioned. (We couldn't finish). Finally, we also ordered various meats to grill at the table ourselves: filet mignon, ribeye, and pork. They were very well-seasoned. (I read a gripe about price and portion size in an earlier review, but for traditional Korean BBQ, I found that both were nice; $10 for Korean BBQ is actually quite reasonable as in major cities the same portion size can be double in price!) All in all, this was a good experience. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The price point and portion size were good. My recommendation to the owners would be to expand the quantity/variety of ban chan and offer more traditional sauces. To get the best bang for your bucks, get the bibimbap. I'll definitely come back and I can't say THAT about a number of Jackson restaurants I've tried thus far. read more

Make sure you count your money!! Food has always been great over the years me eating at the restaurant. Never have had any complaints about service either. But today me and my fiance went to eat and upon paying for our meal, my fiance paid with 100 bill and our meal total was 75. Our waiter took our money to ring up our meal and passed it to the lady behind the counter to count out our change. We were supposed to get 24 dollars back and only received 14 the girl behind the front counter tried to pocket 10 dollar from us. My husband and I was excited to try this place. But unfortunately, the experience was lacking greatly. When our server came to our table we mentioned that it was our first time visiting. Well, typically when one says those words the server goes on to say what's the top dish or mention the customer's favorite. Her delivery was very slow and she never helped us in that area. She only suggested that we get the platter that would offer a variety of things when she noticed us choosing several meats while ordering. My husband and I decided to order some noodles that contained veggies to go along with our meat selection. Our server took forever bringing our meat so we could start cooking and our noodles arrived lukewarm in temperature. They we're pretty tasty although. My husband and I ate them to a point where we were almost full before we even got our meat to cook. We only had a baby portion of noodles left to go with our meat and by that time our noodles were ice cold. If you all will be bringing things out of the kitchen to go along with things the customer will cook on the grill be sure to bring it out as the meats are being cooked. I don't like eating cold food. We had a much better experience in Dallas with an establishment similar to this one. The one in Dallas we will definitely be visiting again we can't say the same about this place. Lastly, I like it when a server work for their tip. I don't believe in just giving someone a tip just because the receipt says what they should get. They have Korean BBQ, hibachi, hot food served to you, or you can order from a variety of different beefs porks seafood and chicken. It is great for a lunch special, a couples night out, or for a party as they have party packages. Over the years, I have been to dozens of Korean BBQs, including little Korea town in Los Angeles. What I like about this place is that they have BBQ grills at the tables, which is a must for real Korean BBQ and many Korean restaurants in the USA don't have the grills. It is quite attractive inside as well. However, both the quantity and seasoning of meat is well below par. The quantity of banchan is stingy.
