don't get me wrong the food is good but they don't understand what extra extra cooked vegetables are, also for a pickup for 2 shrimp hibach, order of wontons & a sweet tea of the only cup size they offer which is incredibly small & it was $38...seems a bit high when I saw on their in store menu that shrimp hibachi was 11.95 a plate...wontons & their small tea must be a super premium price...it's like for some reason they must charge extra to pickup and if that's the case they r just ripping ppl off... read more

As stated in previous reviews, the interior could use a good bit of updating although it's not dirty. I do prefer to order takeout. Seating is limited, and most of the booths are in disrepair. The people are friendly, and the food is typically hot and of decent quality for again a Japanese express. You get what you pay for. If I was expecting higher-quality sushi, I would go elsewhere. My husband does not like the pink sauce here, but I don't mind it. read more

Passing through here on the way to Destin! We got hibachi shrimp and miso soup. The shrimp and soup were delicious! The fried rice had very little flavor. The take out was doing a VERY brisk business! The lady taking orders was friendly! Overall, it was clean and tasty! read more

The price to food ratio is very fair and the food is good. Not a very impressive setting, but its defintely worth the visit.

Date of visit: 01/26/2018 - Richland, MS. It's always a pleasure to eat at OEC Japanese Express. However, I can only rate my favorite dish - steak and scallops - since that's all I ever get. The Yum-Yum (pink) sauce makes the difference. My scallops came on a bed of rice with the steak and mushrooms and carrots in separate sections of the styrofoam container. I have never seen this dish served on a plate, which is fine with me (since there will probably be some left over for take-home). It is accompanied by a small side salad with your choice of dressing (mine is blue cheese). The salad was lacking in ingredients, as it was only a small piece or two of cucumber with the rest being lettuce. The dressing was excellent, as I am a blue cheese junkie. After giving the rice a generous coating of Yum-Yum sauce, it's all good from there. There were ample portions of scallops, steak and mushrooms, cooked to my liking. The carrots were tender and flavorful. There's not really what one would call an "atmosphere" to the restaurant, but that is because it is an Express, with limited seating for maybe 20 people. However, it's always good, albeit a little pricey. All in all, it's a meal worth the money. read more

Food is great, but the atmosphere is terrible, all the seats are all busted, no music or tv just silence, and it didn't exactly smell good in there! It's good for to go orders but that's about it!....I spend good money on to-go food and would spend much more if they'd fix the inside up a little bit! read more

This is the real version. I was duped by the hibachi restaurant down near the Wal-Mart. This is a real Japanese restaurant. The food is freshly prepared and delicious. It has Miso soup in addition to the traditional foods. I enjoyed it plus it's in a shopping center and also clean it had a "A" rating which is always a plus for a food service venue. Plus their prices are quite reasonable. I recommend and will be back for takeout. read more

Sushi was eh, and as someone else said earlier the chicken fried rice is chicken and fried rice. No flavor, the sushi was drenched in a sauce that tasted like thousand islands, I will not be going back. read more

The restaurant is clean and the food was hot and ready shortly after we ordered. The sushi and wontons are great, however the chicken and rice is literally just chicken and fried rice. No sauce or flavor to it. The only seasonings used were salt and pepper. read more

During my drive from Texas to Florida I stopped and tried this place. It was pretty awesome! I have eaten sushi around the world and I was very impressed with this place. The egg rolls, seaweed salad and fried rice were equally as good and flavorful. Next time through, I will again indulge myself. A+ read more

cheap food. all rice and noodle based entrees. it is located in an old shopping strip and the inside is outdated. I wouldn't take a date there. it's probably ok for take out or if you're not in the mood to dress up. food is average, but no better. read more
