We had the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, one with sliced pork and one without. The broth was rich with flavor and spice. The noodles were the perfect texture and the pork was tender and flavorful. The ambiance felt like home in all of the right ways. The vibe was welcoming and come as you are! The service was my favorite part. We were greeted and welcomed in as if we were family. It felt like our presence was wanted and greatly appreciated. We were also given friendly conversation and colorful jokes from the chef. We will definitely be coming back and trying other things on the menu. I did take note that the regulars seem to be ordering the sushi which was freshly prepared within eye site.

The location is pretty unassuming, but the quality of the food and service was surprisingly good. It's owned by a sweet husband and wife duo, who serve, cook and seat guests. The menu is pretty abundant so everyone can find something they like. The tempura was light and crispy. My chirashi bowl had super fresh fish and the rice was cooked well but the avocado was a bit underripe. I tried some of my sisters chicken teriyaki and it was a bit too sweet and chewy for my liking. Overall I'd give this place a 3.5/5 and recommend for you to check it out!

I'm not sure if quality has changed, but I tried some different items this time around and it was very mediocre. The flavor of the spicy tuna was a bit off. The chicken teriyaki and the nabeyaki udon were bland. I would not order those dishes again. Also when my husband ordered a beer, they gave him a very large 22oz bottle. I was surprised by the bottle size and thought to myself that maybe they only had one size. But I later saw the owner take out a normal sized 12 oz bottle for himself! I wish they would have asked what size he wanted instead of just opening the 22oz bottle, which was definitely way too much beer for him and a waste of beer and money for us. This was a disappointing visit and I probably won't be back again.

I've been coming to Yamado for probably over 10 years now. A family friend introduced it to me and it was the first spot I've ever tried sushi at - and it started my burning passion for this cuisine. Yamado is a very quaint restaurant tucked away in a strip mall (do not let the location or outside appearance deter you from checking this place out!), seating is pretty limited but there's also the option to sit at the bar as well. This establishment is CLEAN. If you come right when they open you can tell that they just did a deep clean. Every time I come in for a bite to eat, the waitress is extremely nice and the sushi chef is a gem. He comes around and asks you how your meal is, if you're getting a spicy ramen he'll ask if you want it spicier and he'll bring some seasoning over if you say yes. You can tell he absolutely loves what he does and he's beyond appreciative of everyone who comes in. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu here. I unfortunately do not have any photos because I get too excited and want to eat everything before I can snap a photo, but the next time I go I will be sure to take photos. The seaweed salad appetizer is an absolute must, I always get it when I come here. All of the sushi from the speciality rolls to the traditional are phenomenal and so fresh. It's always so hard to choose between sushi or ramen/udon. I personally am not a ramen person but my friends are and they say it's the best around. I, on the other hand, am a fiend for the Niku Udon which is their beef udon soup. Entrees like chicken katsu are also served here so there's something for everyone. If you're traveling down Ogden or are in Naperville, please stop by a check this place out.

We were craving some ramen. Decided to explore what's around us. We found this location just a few minutes away from where we live. This is nice cozy restaurant with good selection of ramen dishes and sushi. We ordered from their specialty ramen menu and enjoyed a nice dinner. The hosts were super kind and fun to talk to. We loved our ramen dishes.

Nice, warm ramen on a cold snowy day! I have been on a ramen kick lately and was looking to find a place near me so thought I'd give this place a try. I ordered to go through a 3rd party app. I ordered their Spicy Miso Ramen. The ramen came in rather small containers so I was a bit surprised. Granted, I'm not a ramen connoisseur but I tried pouring the broth in the styrofoam but completely overflowed so I had to transport to a bigger bowl. Broth was good, but I recently had a tastier broth in the south loop and it didn't exactly match that expectation. I thought the spice thermometer was spot on - not extremely spicy but not entirely bland either. I was also pleasantly surprised that despite the small containers, the meal was plenty filling and well worth the $15. I think I'd keep this place in mind for a close to home ramen place. I'm eager to try out their sushi next time too.

    Eating awesome food and drink!

Miss Lee and Ichiro run this place class and the food is even better! From the ramen to the apps, and especially the sushi, everything is amazing. Miss Lee carries the best sake!

This is probably as "mom & pop" of a restaurant as you can imagine. The owners started the sushi restaurant 30 years ago. There is no other staff. It's in a small strip mall that is not that busy and easy to miss. The owners know their local and loyal clientele by names. They have accumulated a large sushi roll menus, along with ramen and tempura. I am not sure it is the best sushi or Japanese restaurant, but it's still a gem in Naperville off Ogden.

From outside. I wish I had taken interior pics, it's a really cute place.

I LOVE Yamado! This is a small, family-run Japanese restaurant serving sushi, sashimi, and ramen. I've had their ramen in the past - it is really flavorful and filling, always enough to bring home some for later. This night we had the sushi. We ordered salmon, tuna, zuke salmon, plus a spider roll and Grand Canyon roll. I think we were delivered the sashimi instead, but it was so good it didn't matter! The tuna was lightly seared and served with what the chef called his 'special wasabi sauce'. The zuke salmon was incredible - he said it was salmon belly marinated for 48(?) hours, then seasoned and served over seasoned rice. flavorful, and totally melt-in-your-mouth!! Chef said only he and one other chef in the area know how to make it. Worth the trip to try just this! The spider roll was good, but the Grand Canyon was amazing! Every bite had a new flavor or texture. It was super yummy and fun to eat! I wish I knew the name of the chef and his wife. They are so funny and kind. They will make your visit memorable!

I went to get food here with my friend the other day and I loved how it was a cute little corner ramen shop. It was empty when we went in but the vibes were super nice. I got the Bulgogi Ramen and the soup was nice and spicy and my friend's Tonkatsu Miso Ramen was super flavorful. I loved the perfectly boiled egg and the curly noodles that you get in ramen packages. The owners of the shop were also so friendly and adorable that they made the experience so much better.

    Variety of flaming rolls

Jewel in Naperville. Food and service were amazing, everything was fresh and flavorful. Owner gave an atmosphere of a loving and welcoming home. They come and talk with every costumer making you feel special. Will definitely be one of our go to sushi restaurants.

Blue is a damn, damn good place to go. The vegan options are wide and varied (Hello full vegan…read moremenu), and most importantly - good. It is a bit pricey as it is a downtown Naperville location, but it fits for a lot of family activities that tend to match what I do: friends in Bartlett, swimming events nearby, etc. They have two(!) nice outdoor seating areas in addition to lots of space inside - making this a great consideration for summer. I've been here at least 2 if not 3 times now, and I will be coming again. Happy hour menu during Happy hour (which I believe is Sunday) is well worth it. They placed my group in a spot where no one would be reaching over or around my baby. I greatly appreciated this! The options for happy hour are large, probably the best happy hour menu I've seen, EVER. The deals included drinks and food. I tried the white peach daiquiri and it was refreshing. It was a bit on the artificial side but overall I really liked it. It comes with boba which I found super fun for this drink. For food we tried the calamari and 4 different rolls. I don't normally like fried calamari but from Blue I LOOOOVED it. It was crispy, tasty and also comes with veggies. All the rolls were delicious too. A friend suggested we try the cowgirl roll and surprisingly it was so good! Reminded me of a cheeseburger in sushi form, super fun! This is a spot I see myself being frequent and recommending to others.

I've been a few places like this, from the familiar Benihana to a long-shuttered shithole storefront in OakPark where the Chef tried valiantly to put on a show, but fortunately he was a better Chef than a Showman. Shinto, here, is a fave of Daughter #3 and her family so we took over an entire table with our Party. A bit of Sushi pre-show, (it was edible) and then, curtains UP! The repertoire of Chefs in all these joints are quite similar, and the quality is measured by how inspired the chef is, and THAT metric is subjective to the receptiveness of the table. If all are ready to have a good time, the Circuses will match the Bread. If there's a Bruno Bummer in the crowd, it's going to be a long meal. Fortunately, our crew is of the "fun" persuasion and the Chef seemed to be, as well. The theatrics were the usual moves- tossing knives (and bits of Shrimp) in the air, and each of us got a chance to catch morsels in our mouths (mostly futile). The "onion train" thing, and occasional flambé were there, as was the balancing of the bowl of rice on a knife. The "Mustard Bottle with a string" is always good for a laugh. The Menu is pretty much the same at all of these places-Shrimp, Steak, or Chicken, Salad, Fried Rice, Veggies. All theatrically prepared in front of you. All of it top-quality and tasty. It would have been a great feed even without the stage show. If you're particular to only one type of dressing on your salad, you're out of luck unless you're into Soy Ginger, which is the onliest topper you're going to find here. Personally, I dig it, but Wife who is a Ranch aficionado took a pass. The Fried Rice was exceptional. There was nothing out of the ordinary in the ingredients, so the Chef's deft hand was responsible for the Yum. The Chef was quite fun, and he got our steaks off at the perfect desired temperatures, while keeping up the theatrics. There's an option for "French Garlic" topping for the proteins which is basically Garlic, Butter, and Breadcrumbs. This stuff would make a ceiling tile palatable. If you visit here, I highly recommend it. If you're looking for something different in the Hibachi line, this ain't it. But the show and the food were top-notch Throwing a well-deserved 5 stars.

The restaurant was also very clean inside. I didn't get a chance to try their ice cream this time, but it looked amazing and is definitely on my list for next visit. We started with the pork bao bun, and it was a 10/10. The bread-to-meat ratio was perfect, and the sauce was delicious. We also ordered the lollipop shrimp, which was very good. The sweet and sour sauce that comes with it was even better than the teriyaki sauce. For our main dishes, we got the chicken stir-fry ramen and the Niku Soba ramen. Both were 10/10. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. The broth in the Niku Soba was especially outstanding--probably one of the best ramen broths I've had. The pricing was reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Overall, a great experience, and we'll definitely be back.
