It's frustrating where this store is located because it's usually congested. I live on the north side which isn't far but having to deal with the traffic honestly keeps me from going, sometimes especially if I just need a few things. First world problems. Anyway, everything about the store is a win for me. I love the selection of produce, but sometimes they do run very low on things. They do offer a lot of products that are hard to find elsewhere and the quality is always really good . I don't go out of my way for organic, but they definitely have a really big selection Since Covid, I don't do hot bars, but they're premade meals are decent like the prime rib for like 10 bucks I found some of the best deals on really high-quality meat I've never been good at cooking steaks, but grabbed a Wagyu strip steak there for half off and it was easily the best thing I've ever made my family like their plates. Yes they're savages, but even they don't usually go that far. They have great selections of cheeses and ethnic spices that are hard to find in an actual supermarket so it's nice not to have to go to 20 different places. I love to cook, which means sometimes I need small amounts of spices if I'm trying something new so it's nice to be able to get most of them there. I think they originated in Ohio, so it's nice to see some of the Kroger offering since I lived there as a kid so it's nostalgic. The neighbor people that hanging out with the bar freaked me out a little bit not gonna lie. I don't get it. I can get behind one and have a drink as you walk through a grocery shopping but to go hang out at the grocery store for no reason, but to sit there and drink as people try to navigate their carts around you... yeah.... Weird. Sorry. Now here's what I definitely don't understand. Their cakes are so underrated unless I've just been walking through life with sunglasses in the AirPods. I have never heard anyone talk about how good their bakery is. They have a huge selection of premade stuff that isn't really their brand but the cupcakes that are made in the store and the cakes they make are incredible. The frosting for their buttercream, you can tell has actual butter in it most grocery stores around here for buttercream seem like they use shortening. I think Mariano's is fantastic and will definitely consider them when I need to order cakes in the future. The people there are also really helpful. My favorite is the woman that supervises the self checkout. She's incredibly friendly and helpful. She doesn't always come across that way initially because she doesn't seem outgoing but she really is great. I definitely say just throw this on your list of regular spots to shop. read more

I enjoy shopping at this store. One of the biggest reasons is that it is clean. You would think that to be a given for a grocery store ~ but that is not always the case. Just as I had begun my shopping, one of the employees ( and I wish I had gotten her name) came up to me with a new shopping cart that did not have wonky wheels. Totally unexpected. In their bakery section, there is a shelf marked for Irish Soda Bread. It was empty so I we and spoke to one of the bakery employees and was told they no longer make the soda bread. In the past they have carried it, year round. I guess now they will limit it to St. Patrick's Day. Bummers ~ bring back the soda bread. Not having shopped there in a while, I was pleasantly surprised to see they are back to providing grocery bags. I did bring my own ~ but won't have to in the future. read more

Needed sushi to take to a party in Bollingbrook. This location was only 5 miles away from my decision. Called in my order after reviewing menu's online. There was some confusion as to the platter's available. The sushi chef sold me on the Rainbow Platter which included 3 specialty rolls and 1 traditional maki roll. Price was 39.99 and included wasabi and ginger. All in all very fresh and a success at the board party that I attended. Mariano's does sushi very well for the price. This Mariano's store is close to a family member, that I wanted to buy some provisions for. Store had a very nice appearance. Shopped in the produce and deli and was happy with the selections. Not happy about the paper bags! One of them broke open removing it from my car at my destination. The grapes in the bag were heavier, and after paying about $ 8.00 for them, I wasn't happy about the bag breaking. Fortunately they were in a hard plastic shell and not ruined. I would have had a cat if the bag with the 2.5 pounds of potato salad broke open. I'm disabled with a lung issue, so making multiple trips in the heat wasn't happening. Years ago paper bags were phased out to "save the rainforest." What's old is new again. Green new scam. read more

In the past I lowered the rating here several stars, b/c virtually every trip, I would be overcharged for something at checkout, compared to price on the shelf. I just got home from the Mariano's on 75th street in Naperville. I went thru a check-out lane that did not have anyone bagging groceries. I looked over at the self-check out area and saw three employees standing and laughing with the woman working at the service counter. There were three regular lanes open and nobody was helping bag the groceries. All of the women saw that customers were bagging their own groceries and could really care less. What a joke! At Jewel there are always managers telling workers to go bag, get carts, or give someone a break. Where are the managers at Mariano's. Why pay three people to stand there and do absolutely nothing! Purchased items from Naper Blvd Marianos that were so inedible I had to return them. The employee at customer service indicated that she could not offer customer service until 8 am because she had no CASH in her drawer (first clue of a customer no service issue), it was 7:15 am. Immediately asked for MOD. She said MOD could not help. She lied. MOD can fix any refund issue because it is a large part of their responsibilities. Got an employee in the bakery to request the MOD. Barb appears and gives me my DIGITAL refund. This is how it should have gone: Me: Good morning, I need to return some items. Mariano's in Naperville is still a solid 1 star. Reason, customer service, or lack thereof. The problem is their digital coupons and employees that aren't empowered to fix problems. Digital coupons are for VERY SPECIFIC items. You have to read AND understand the fine print. The latest fiasco was for blueberry muffins. The digital coupon was for "bakery fresh" muffins. When in the bakery section there was one table with muffins. No signs anywhere. No other muffins in the area. At checkout the muffins didn't ring up correctly. Someone came over to "help". He was of no use whatever. He wanted us to log in to our online account before he could help. He finally cancelled our entire order at the check out and told us to go to the customer service counter to resolve the issue. The woman at customer service (tallish, stringy blond hair and black and white plastic frame glasses) was completely useless and a little offensive. She told us we had the wrong muffins. She said the digital coupon was for "bakery fresh" muffins. My husband went back to the bakery section. There was only one table with muffins. No muffins behind the counter. No signs anywhere as to what might be "bakery fresh". We told her we no longer wanted the muffins. She took them off our order. read more

I still love Mariano's! And during this crazy pandemic, their drive up grocery pickup has been a life saver. I'm still able to get great produce and a quality groceries without having to go into the store. You can build you order line or in their app. Once it's ready, you drive to the store, park in one of the dedicated spots and call the store. They bring it out to your car, you pay, and they load it up for you. Easy peasy. read more

I hang out at the Marianos bar pretty regularly. They have awesome drink deals--$4 pints of beer on draft, or $3 glasses of wine. The bartenders--Susan, Rose, and Kate are all amazing. On Fridays they also have live music which is fun! The crowd is always friendly, and if you're looking for a snack you can feel free to grab something from the guac bar, a cheese board, sushi, or anything else the grocery store has to offer. I just wish there was a few more tables because sometimes the bar is so packed there's no where to sit read more

Still one of our favorite grocery stores... Maybe it's because they have a bar... and pints for $2... either way we love coming here! Another thing that this store does very well is their fresh grab and go section. They have everything from fresh made soups to pasta/potato salads and then even have a little grill where you can have your burgers or steaks cooked FOR you while you're shopping. Pretty amazing. Note, you can also eat your items at the bar which is a fun bonus if you plan on hanging around for awhile. It also seems like they are doing the best job they can to keep everything properly stocked during this time. They have hand sanitizers throughout the store and even the foot bar on the bottom of the bathroom door so you can open it hands-free. They also had a bunch of sanitizing wipes near the shopping carts/baskets for you to use. All the associates were keeping the lines moving as fast as possible, all while wearing smiles. Mariano's is one of the most visited my neighbor grocery store. Whenever I come here, I always spend more time trying to decide what i shouldn't get. Because I literally wanna get everything here. Their pies are to die for. I also love their selection the cooked food, the meat, the seafood, this deli has definitely a lot of options also. I'm so happy they open a Mariano's here. I also love that whenever I don't feel like cooking at home. I can just come here get something like steak/chicken or whatever is in the meat section and they cook it for me. While I look around and find more stuff to buy. I am absolutely so impressed by this store and all the people that work there! The customer service is out of this world! This Mariano's is good-sized and well-stocked on fresh produce. Their fresh-baked cookies are great and come in a variety of flavors like white chocolate cherry and chocolate pb chip. They even have live music on Friday afternoons near the bar (yes they have a bar...date night at Mariano's? ;D) Hot food bar could be better- we got dinner there on Wed night around 6:30. Most items were running low and/or dried out like they were sitting there too long. Of note, hot food bar hours are 10:30am-7pm so 7:06 you are...SOL! Decent grocery store sushi/poke bowls though they get sold out by evening. Indoor and outdoor cafe seating available if you're trying to grab a quick bite on the run. read more

OMG is this heaven on earth or what?! I am sorry for underestimating you, Kroger, for you have really outdone yourself. Somehow I tend to avoid going to my local Kroger, but suddenly wish its sexier, sleeker, more beautiful older brother Mariano's were closer to me. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Walking in, I see a salad bar, an olive bar, a sushi bar... then there's an chocolate/candy corner, a sub corner, a bakery with all kinds of custom cakes and everything you could possibly imagine...then OMG there's a wine bar and an oyster bar!! The seafood and meat selection looks ah-maz-ing!! They also have a large selection of fresh vegetables, salsas, prepared salads, cheeses, fresh-squeezed juices and a trail mix bar!! I wish I were staying in Naperville longer so I could buy everything. Totally cannot wait to come back to town just to shop at this place. OMG love. read more

I hate shopping. I did come to this store when they opened and dragged along tonight with my wife. As I waited for her at the deli counter I was struck by how quickly this place has changed. It has been two years. The place is visibly dirty. I first noticed how dirty the concrete was at the entry. Not just the normal debris from the day but really a lack of deep cleaning. Maintenance is lacking also. Corners of cabinets repaired with duct tape and damaged signs abound. Hours signs at each department with crooked numbers. Lack off detail at each display. As an example- a sign above an end cap of bottled water says $2.00 with card. The sign near the floor says $1.88 with card. I sure hope the lack of maintenance cleanliness doesn't extend to storage areas and food service sanitation areas. Is this the Kroger difference or just a new poor manager? read more

So, yes, this place is huge and has a bar--and there's people there drinking all times of the day and night. The quality of their prepared foods is questionable. Cakes are awful but look awesome. The BBQ pork is okay. The beef in their hot food section is very fatty. Mashed potatoes taste kind of pasty and overmargined like they're from a huge container. Their homemade guacamole is great but they drastically shortened the hours it's available. I tried their aged parmesan and it tastes nothing like Whole Foods parmesan. The produce is okay. Their pre-cut veggies, though, were old tasting. I'd stick with fresh and nothing prepackaged, although their fresh squeezed OJ was great. Really check their dates, because they leave stuff for a long time on their shelves. Their canned, packaged, and cold goods have reasonable and competitive costs, so I often buy yogurt, crackers, coffee, pizza, and ice cream here. There's a few organic items.The other day, I tried to return some toiletries (unopened) that I bought for a major surgery and did not need, and the woman could not be less friendly re it, at the window. From their online policy, the only returns they should be questioning are food and flowers. So, not sure what her problem was, but she said, normally we don't take returns from our personal goods section. Whatever. Today, I'm returning Halloween candy today. Wish me luck! read more

Rude Old Lady Workin Self Check Out. Picked up Doughnuts, Cinnamon Rolls, & milk. I then headed up to the checkout & only one register was open with 3 people with full carts there so I headed to the Dreaded Self Checkout. I scanned the Cinnamon Rolls, then tried Doughnuts but there was no sku on the box, hit the button for the attendant to come and help. Waited for a bit & kept looking over she was talking to some co-workers waited a bit more looked over again then a line another costumer stood waiting behind me looking over again & finally she walked over & asked what's wrong I said the Cinnamon Rolls & Milk came up on the screen but when I typed in the number for the number for the Doughnuts 2505 but nothing appeared on the screen, she typed it & said how many ? I said a dozen. She then said "Oh you typed in the wrong number for a dozen Why Don't You Try The Right One", & walked away. So then I walked away as well saying "Oh I'm good ......I guess I'll TRY the Grocery Store Across The Street." Very rude & unprofessional she could of just helped me instead of a sarcastic comment & then walking away. read more

Major downside the last few visits and today takes the cake. I usually love shopping here weekly. Today everything looked terrible from the hot food bar, to the empty lettuce shelf, to the empty deli sandwiches, to the overripe avocados, to the sad looking raspberries and blackberries and tiny blueberries, to not having the popcorn or hotdog buns I usually buy. This means I'm gonna have to make a trip somewhere else, which is a major inconvenience. I don't know why they have been going downhill this past month. read more

The good: Large store with bakery, deli, Starbucks, pre-made food/salad bar, juice bar, pharmacy and all non-specialty staple grocery items. Also the bar is fun and well-priced. The bad: Most everything else. Mariano's started off as a high-end grocery store, 1-step below Whole Foods, but that was years ago an now it's just a Jewel/Kroger with lipstick. Produce is average Prepared food is mostly gross Fish from the counter is always overpriced and terrible Bakery items look great, but don't taste very good Employees appear dead inside (I don't blame them) Grocery bags are always plastic (They've been out of paper on each of my visits for the last 3 years) Sale items/digital coupons make you buy 5 of a single item; unsurprisingly digital coupons never work and the staff can't help I live less than a minute away and really wish I could enjoy shopping here, but realistically unless I'm in a pinch, I'd rather make the 10min trip to Trader Joes. I never thought that a grocery store could get me so angry every time I shop, but I guess in that regard Mariano's is a real WINNER. read more

I went and complained to the service manager who told me they were a pilot program store.when l turned and walked away she flipped me off behind my back not. Knowing my wife was in line watching. Mariano's lost a steady customer today. I doubt I'll be the last. I have a Mariano's card which I thought entitled me to discounts in the store. Wrong. I found out today that I need to go online before I shop and scroll through the multitude of coupons so I can access them at the register to get the sale price. So, I make my list, go to the store to do my shopping, get to the register and load all of my groceries onto the conveyor belt, AND then access the Internet to find the coupons. Are they kidding me?? I am NOT interested in doing this. I won't do it. Goodbye Marianos! What will the people do who don't have an iPhone or know how to do the whole Internet thing? Are they supposed to just see the sale prices posted and realize that they're just not going to get them? Somebody needs to rethink this. How much harder do these stores want to make it for us to just buy groceries??? read more

Just made my last visit to this store. As a premium store, I have different expectations. The prices I paid were very premium, but the services were anything but that. The store was busy, but no one seemed to notice. Waited in line for a while because of a lack of cashiers. Worse yet , NO BAGGERS. Adding insult to injury, I had to bag my own groceries and was CHARGED 50 cents a bag for this privilege. Then, 3 of these bags, the handle, ripped. I have 5 other stores closer to me. Over the years I have spent thousand of dollars at the Mariano's Naperville location. Today I waited in line for 20 minutes then put all my groceries on the belt to have some manager yell at me about purchasing grocery bags. I was astounded. She angerly says you have to purcahse bags as of 11/16, which was a lie becuase I was last in this store 11/21. I had to purchase their paper bags at .10 a bag. By the time I loaded my car the handles tore off 1 bag, 1 bag shredded in half and I had groceries all over the pavement. I will never shop Mariano's/Krogers ever again. Huge diversified ethnic selections; fresh fish and meat counters exemplifying quality; absolutely loaded salad, olive, oyster, cheese, and, hot bar. Loved it! An item that really caught my interest was Koreo Kimchi Seasoning, Rub & Marinade. Wow, what a fantastic taste. Also the rolled grape leaves are awesome! Fantastic produce - fresh, beautifully laid out, great selection. Reasonable pricing for sale items, best bet for gourmet/specialty ingredients. Wide, well-lit aisles, clean and well-stocked makes for a pleasant grocery experience - unlike the usual abysmal mess. Friendly, helpful staff esp. in the produce section.
