Came here to celebrate birthday. Our party thought we might have a drink while we waited for a table. It was a birthday celebration after all. As we entered the bar we were given some bad looks behind the bar & that's when he said the bar is not open? On a Sunday at 3:30 while the room is full of people waiting for dinner? My husband said " way to lose money ". Now we did not cancel our place in line. We walked over to another restaurant Spumoni. Its italian they treated us well and served us until our table was ready. I would've loved to stay, but it wasn't my birthday. Ordered our food stayed quite a while, bill came to bout 230.00 + tip. Food was average, but the servers did stop by frequently to check on us. I can't say im in a hurry to ho back. I think ill be at Spumoni if im back in that neighborhood. What did I like? The fact that you get your own table while the cook provides the show.

Our food was out pretty quick even though the place was packed. I was excited to see the fish collar on the menu, it was a little too crispy but still a treat. Also, if it's your birthday they will sing to you in giant plush costumes.

My wife and her family loves coming to this place. They would usually want to come here to celebrate birthday or any celebration so I would come here at least 2 times a year. This is not my favorite place to come because they don't take reservations, it can be a while before you actually eat, the ventilation isn't the best here so you'll likely smell like smoke and the price is on the pricer end since you're getting a chef cooking in front of you. They do a wait-list now and all of your party has to be present to be seated. A lot of family comes here to celebrate birthday because the workers will wear cartoon character on their head and come sing happy birthday to you. They'll sign it in Japanese and then English along with giving you a dessert. Most people would order the combination dinner entree here because of the deal. You'll get miso soup or chicken broth, salad and then your entree of choice. I got the filet mignon with salmon before, filet mignon with scallops and filet mignon with shrimp. I switch it up this time and did the new York steak with salmon. I chosed fried rice as my side, the chef will also give you some veggies and mushroom too. The show that the chef does is great if you never seen it before but if you seen it a couple of times then you just want to eat. My food was okay, it's not the best of worst. The chicken broth was alright, the steak was cooked to medium rare like I asked, the fried rice was kind of hard, the scallop was okay and I didn't even touch the veggies or mushroom.

My bestie & I had our galentines dinner yesterday at Yamato's and we absolutely freakin loved it. Immediately walking in, we were greeted & the decoration at this location was so cute. Gave real valentine vibes. We ordered a roll and 2 drinks, the roll we got was the yellow dragon roll which had avocado, shrimp tempura, & crab. It was immaculate. Our drinks were perfection. Not to strong not to sweet, we ordered watermelon martinis. Our chef was great & steak was cooked perfect for me. We had an amazing time. Great food.

Love this place! The food is great and the service is always fast. They have a huge menu, so many hibachi grill and sushi options. I love how if you're dining in for sushi only you have the choice to sit on the pretty patio. I got the filet mignon and hibachi shrimp combo with fried rice and veggies. It was amazing! The steak was cooked perfectly and everything was packed with flavor. It also comes with a choice of soup and salad. This is my go to meal when I come here. We also got some jumbo Sapporo. I definitely wanna try the sushi next time I come here.

    Crispy Dragon Roll was delicious!

We celebrated a Birthday and ordered off the regular menu because of my dad's favorite dish, Katsudon! The sushi and the bowls were amazing. The tempura udon was delicious and best when requesting the tempura be served on the side. The bar area was perfect for our large party with the TVs and service making everything just right. AJ was our server and he handled everything from start to finish perfectly. We appreciate his hospitality greatly!!! Our favorite cocktails had to be the Mexican Candy Margarita and the Watermelon!!! The bathrooms needed a bit more TLC with restocking especially. We will definitely return soon!

Valentine's Day lunch with my SO. Everybody got the memo and came before the restaurant even opened "officially". Upon entering, most of the tables at the main dining are taken already. Good thing no reservation is needed. We were seated right away and joined by a family. My SO and I ordered a combo (price was not bad). Steak and Chicken for me. Lobster and Chicken for my SO. It took 10 minutes for the chef to make our lunch. Huh! That was fast. We enjoyed our lunch but it got cold to a certain point. So we took home half. The meat was seasoned well and the veggies were cooked to perfection. Inside is dim and not airy. You have that smoky smell after leaving. Easy to find. Plenty of parking.

We went to get some dinner and waited a bit longer than expected. But they made it up by giving me a discount. Aside from that, the cooks are great.Good service overall Thank you. Definitely, coming back again. My little girl loves Yamatos and the koikhifish pawn.

Do they automatically add gratuity for large parties? Possibly 20 people?

They did not for a party of 8 when we were there but you can always call the restaurant to get the best answer.

How has this place been as of recent ? I came here about 3 years ago and had a positive experience, but recent reviews make me not want to come back.

We went a few weeks ago and it was awesome!!! Great food, good service, and good atmosphere.

    Do they take reservations?

    No.

No to go or take out ? I am really upset after being a customer for years. Not happy.

Is inside dining open yet here?

    Not as of last week.

Are they open for the teppan take out?

Yes. They opened their doors for take out since Mother's Day. Somewhat of a limited menu but still very extensive. Teppan and sushi

Do you need a reservation? And is it a good restaurant for just two people?

I know reservations are required for large groups for teppan. Reservations for 2 may depend on whether you want teppan or sushi bar.

I have no idea if some of these reviewers even know what they're complaining about, like the "miso"…read moresoup that's actually consommé, and is very tasty. Maybe it doesn't have an Insta ready wall for fancy pics but it's a hidden gem that's been run by the same award winning chef for decades. There are pictures of him with generations of famous people from the world over who eat here so that speak speaks for itself. Also, he must be over 80 and he still greets and seats every customer personally. The place has been around a while so one might consider it a bit "rustic" and sure there's a wait, but that's because this place has stood the test of time and still turns out incredible food and service. And no, like the other reviewers said, there's no sushi but this is an authentic teppan whose focus is grilled food...and they're great at it

Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to what we remembered. Being given plastic utensils while dining in was surprising, especially at this price point. The service and food were just okay, and the "miso soup" was actually plain chicken broth, which was disappointing and unexpected. Overall, it didn't feel like the same experience we used to enjoy. I hope this is taken as constructive criticism, as we'd love to see the quality return to what it once was.

I believe our server's name was Hollyn. She asked us if we had ever been there before, and we said no. She offered to give us the spiel of how everything works but it seemed pretty straight forward. There were three menus - All You Can Eat, Adventures in Niku, and A la Cart. We opted for the AYCE premium at $50/person. We were told we can order 2 meats per person, and then as many sides as we wanted when we put in an order. We ordered: Garlic edamame, cheese corn, cucumbers, vegetable spring rolls, fried pork gyoza dumplings, toro beef, angus beef rib, New York steak, pork belly, shishito peppers, and a few other meat options that I can't remember from the AYCE menu. A la cart we ordered the garlic rice. From the Adventures in Niku menu we got the $2.50 Kirin drafts. My personal favorites were the Angus Beef Rib, garlic edamame, garlic fried rice, and lots and lots of s'mores! We were very impressed with our server because she was very present and not on autopilot. For example, when we put in our first order we ordered the garlic fried rice and a two steamed white rices. I believe when a different employee dropped off our meats, she said she was going to get the white rice but never came back. My partner and I didn't think anything of it because the garlic fried rice was so large, and we can always order more steamed rice if we really needed it. About halfway into our meal, our server looks at our food and goes "didn't you order 2 steamed rices in addition to the garlic fried rice?!" I said yes and she immediately went to go get it. It was really nice to see that she wasn't just putting orders in as she heard them, but she was actually fully present and listening to what the order was and then doing mental checks to see if we had received everything. She was fantastic! In addition to our server, I noticed that there were bussers who would walk around looking for empty plates to remove. This really helped with keeping our table as empty as possible for all the food that we ordered. Overall, the food was something fun and different than we're used to. However, the stand out for me were the friendliness and efficiency from all the employees.

Dear Mr. T, I am…read morewriting to express my disappointment regarding an incident that occurred at your restaurant yesterday evening. First, I would like to say that my family and I have dined at your restaurant on several occasions and have always had positive experiences. We have enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service, which is why the experience we had last night was particularly disappointing. My family and I visited your establishment again and ordered from the à la carte menu. After we had finished most of our meal and paid our bill, some members of our party, including my brothers, were still enjoying their sake and finishing their drinks. To our surprise, a staff member approached us and asked us to leave the restaurant. While I understand that it was a busy evening and that there may have been other customers waiting for tables, I found it inappropriate and unprofessional to be asked to leave when we were still consuming items we had legitimately purchased. We did not order from an all-you-can-eat menu, which typically has a clearly stated time limit. As paying customers dining from the regular menu, we reasonably expected to be allowed to finish our food and beverages without feeling rushed or pressured to leave. What was most disappointing was the manner in which the situation was handled. Hospitality should include treating guests with courtesy and respect, regardless of how busy the restaurant may be. Being asked to leave while still finishing our drinks and foods left us feeling unwelcome and diminished what would otherwise have been an enjoyable dining experience. I hope you will address this matter with your staff and reinforce the importance of professional customer service and respectful communication. Thank you for taking the time to review my concerns. I would appreciate your acknowledgment of this complaint and any information regarding how this matter will be addressed. Sincerely, Carla
