Me and my husband been trying out more unique spots lately. We came across this place and decided to give it a try and we're so glad we did. My husband ordered the build-your-own bowl with chicken teriyaki, white rice, and spicy mayo, plus add-ons of crab meat and a California roll. Everything tasted great, the portion was generous, and it was very filling. I got the udon & spicy tuna roll combo and was pleasantly surprised by how big the udon bowl was. The udon was really good, and the spicy tuna roll was delicious too. Such a perfect combo. The place itself is small but has plenty of seating. The menu has tons of options, and they even offer self-serve ramen, which we're definitely saving for next time. Overall, a really cool experience... affordable and satisfying. Honestly this place is alright when you're on a budget, I wouldn't say it's great or amazing though. You may be asking "why would you go to a sushi and ramen place and be upset when you order something that isn't either of those", I feel like a restaurant should be proud of every thing they offer on their menu. I came in with my boyfriend, wanting to try something new. We got a Mexican Roll, a Chicken Teriyaki bowl with an egg roll, shrimp tempura, white rice, and noodles (Chow Mein according to the lady working). For drinks we tried their Mandarin juice and a mango orange Hawaiian soda. The inside of the restaurant is pretty small, and it looks pretty cute and relatively clean. My boyfriend said his Mexican roll was pretty nice, he loves spicy rolls, he said this was a pretty good choice if you were on a budget, however he said that their spicy mayo was more on the mayo side, which isn't for everyone. I had the chicken teriyaki bowl, and honestly.... It was only just okay. The noodles have no flavor and were really dry, and the chicken was sliced very thin, and tasted a bit dry, it also felt like any sauce on it would just slide off. It's not a great thing to say that my favorite part of the Chicken teriyaki bowl was the white rice. I also added the shrimp tempura and an egg roll. The shrimp tempura tasted really good, but it was SUPER skinny. The egg roll was really good though. Also whatever teriyaki they use is really runny, rather than thick, but it is really sweet with an odd aftertaste. Now the drinks, I would pass on. They were... fine I guess? Their Jeju Mandarin just tasted like an odder version of unsweetened orange juice. I also didn't notice on the Hawaiian Soda was SPARKLING soda, it tasted pretty bleh. Good go to place for teriyaki, sushi with a bit of Korean. It's a small restaurant located in a plaza with plenty of parking. Received a warm welcome from the staff at the counter. There were about 5 tables and a ramen station along one of the walls. We ordered the bulgogi bento box which comes with a small salad, miso soup, 4 California rolls and tempura. We also ordered the salmon and volcano roll. Everything tasted decent and good portions for the price. The bulgogi was a little dry and overly cooked but the flavor was good. We also tried cooking a ramen at the cooking station. I know we can get ramen for less than the $6 that they charge but I think you also pay for the experience of cooking it at the ramen station. We got the mild Jin ramen and it just hit the spot! I would definitely give this place a try if you're in the area. Noticed a lot of people picking up food to go. I am so excited about Mukgo and I can't wait to come back. The shop is located in a plaza with plenty of parking. The service is amazing. I didn't get the name of the woman who took our orders, but she was so kind. She gave us recommendations, helped us with the hot water dispenser, and was so pleasant to talk to. I love the idea of their packaged ramen system. Basically, you pick a packaged ramen from a wall and then you can make it with machines in the restaurant and add toppings like green onions and cilantro. I got lucky and came on the first day of their holiday special, so my soup was only 3.99. This is a great deal, but I'm not sure I would feel the same way if I had to pay the full price. I would love to see Mukgo expand their topping section to include things like sesame seeds, crispy onion or garlic, or even rice cakes. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Mukgo and I will be back! read more

a hidden gem in the SCV area (must try!) I will be coming back for the lunchboxes (includes miso soup, salad, tempura (light & crispy batter), rice, and protein of choice (I chose chicken). It was very hearty and a great value! they are currently having specials on certain rolls, so I totally recommend you add them onto your meal! I want to try their instant ramen machine--they have so many different types of ramen available. The machine is the one they use at the han river in Korea so it's cool to be experience that here locally in the SCV area. Great food, great ambiance & great service. Worst online ordering experience ever. Menu is unclear and every aspect of the ordering process has errors. Do not trust their online ordering. Our order was completely wrong and then they refused to give a refund. Eventually an older woman came out from the back and processed the refund. Unbelievable. We've been eating at this location for decades, almost weekly. New owners I guess. Placed an order on the phone for 3 teriyaki bowls. When I picked them up, I asked for green onions, cilantro, and peppers on top, what we do every time. But the young employee said the toppings were only for ramen customers. I told him we always get the toppings with no issue before. He reluctantly gave me 3 small plastic containers which I filled. Fine. But then he reminds me that I need to call and order the toppings next time. I said, I could have my son call back but I'm standing right here telling you I want the toppings. Why couldn't you add them in the kitchen? I was getting irritated by now. So I said that it was bad business practice. We are frequent and loyal customers. Allowing me to sprinkle some onions and cilantro on top shouldn't be a big deal. Then some A***E man sitting in the corner, maybe an owner, butts in and tells the kid he handled it all very well. I disagreed. No the kid was not rude but the business practice is a bad one. The man had the gall to argue with me! So I finally said if they don't want us to come back, we will gladly go somewhere else. And we will. Do NOT give these people your business. They do not care squat about their customers. So many other ramen and sushi restaurants who have better service, better food, and lower prices. read more

I have visited Mukgo about ten times now but today they gave me reason to be a weekly customer. The young man working today was so hospitable and kind. His welcoming demeanor and courteous but genuine attitude should bring people here in droves. I really love the food and they have kept their great specials. I guess this is a decent. I enjoyed how unique it was in comparison to other places I've ate before, but truth be told I don't think I'd come back here to eat. For starters the ramen clearly has a cool style, you choose which ramen packet you want there's a poster that helps you know if you want spicy or non spicy ramen, after they give you a bowl that you add all your stuff to and place it in a ramen heating matching, there's a few toppings you're able to choose as well after free of extra charge. Right now before the ending of the year it's 50% off ramen but normal price is $6.59 something like that. Honestly the main reason I dined here is because my 7 & 4 year old though their concept was cool but would I pay that price for Japanese ramen I can find in H mart etc for less the price same exact thing? I do not think so. We also had their rolls and honestly their rice did not taste so well to me and the tuna/salmon did not contain the best quality. However their drinks I loved ! They have these two different drink options inside these clear plastic pouches that reminded me of an adult version Capri Sun and both drinks tasted amazing to me. They do not have a bathroom ? Apparently it is out of service and said we can go across the parking lot to use Starbucks restroom but who wants to do all that in the middle of your dine in experience when you have two young children that will require to use the restroom. I would imagine there being a sign already stating there isn't any restrooms available so you can determine whether or not you want to dine in since the start. As we were eating I also noticed they have a B grade vs an A which lead into my curiosity to see whether or not it's hygienic in their kitchen or not and I noticed how they had a mop up against their sink, and the head of the mop was entering where they wash dishes. So imagine the fact that after mopping the bathroom floors, the kitchen floors, the dining floors, etc., they place the mop against the same sink they used to wash the dishes that they used to prepare and make the food ? A nice selection of instant ramen to choose from. I ended up going with the spicy Jin ramen, and the yuzu drink they offer. They had a neat tier list to help choose from the different spice levels, which is helpful for people who aren't familiar with different ramen brands. I enjoyed the experience of using the ramen maker thing, and I love the idea of adding different toppings. The selection was a little small though, so I would love to see them expand the choice of toppings. Some sesame seeds, rice cakes, and things like that would have taken it a step up. I was there during the 3.99 holiday special, so I think a greater selection would make that regular price of 6.99 more justifiable. But the staff was so nice and helpful and the space definitely has potential to be a great study hang out spot. read more

Ugh. I really wanted to like this place but a couple things here to note.... I purchased two ramens, one for me and one for the little one. They didn't have a huge selection to choose but it was big enough, for sure. The young girl was helpful when I asked her recommendations. The ramens themselves were pretty tasty. We also got the Mexican roll and mandarin juice. Came out to $36 which I felt was a bit pricey for packaged ramen that you can get at the Asian market down the street. The Mexican roll... I just couldn't do it. I couldn't eat it. The rice and sushi both tasted.... Off. The rice tasted liked the fridge... if that makes sense. Like they didn't cover it properly and it picked up the flavors of everything in the fridge. The quality of sushi was questionable and the roll was about $13. In the end, another person came to assist the front and the young girl disappeared. My kid did not finish the ramen and hardly put a dent in it so I asked the woman for a lid to take it home. Unfortunately, she said she didn't have any and there was no way of us taking our food home but the whole time they were sending off to orders? We've been coming to Rolla for years so we were excited to try the new revamp with the Korean ramen cookers! It was a fast and easy cooking process. We liked having the fresh toppings to add as well.
