To my Ottawa Canadian Friends... This is an upscale Green Door. The food is just as incredible with wonderful decor and cozy seats. I fell in love with it instantly. I have been there twice and on both occasions the food was very fresh and seasoned to perfection. No salt or added spices needed. The wine mushrooms are divine and the brazed fennel addictive. Vegan's, vegetarians and paleo people would be pleased with the selection. No meat as it is vegetarian but tons of great veggie dishes that are sure to please. I went here twice and enjoyed every single bite. Both times I ate from their colorful buffet of freshly made vegetarian and vegan dishes. The chefs make every dish unique with a bend of ingredients and spices which are very tasty. So good!! Living in Southern California we have a variety of organic, gluten free, vegan and vegetarian places but honestly yamm needs to come here!! I loved every single bite of the cauliflower, polenta pie, potatoes, beets, hummus, mushrooms, roasted veggie, greens, dressings, soups, raw salad, goes on and on. Then what can I say about the desserts? Some places do great food and some do great desserts. Not Yamm their Vegan desserts are excellent too (especially in a cafe centric place like Vienna)!! Very nice restaurant, stylish, clean, comfortable and what's a big plus for me - a lot of HEALTHY options from the lunch buffet. The prices are like everywhere, you choose what you want to eat and the price depends on the weight of your food. Coffee is a bit expensive (something about 3,50€), but I enjoyed much a Nut-Ginger Cookie for 1,50€ which is not that bad, because it was really filling (and yummy!). It's cool that it's practically near university, so between my classes I'll definitely come back ! read more

After a few too many meat and carb heavy meals while traveling through Germany and Austria, we were so happy to stumble upon yamm! The hostess gave us a quick run through - grab a card, pile up your plate with fresh and delicious food, weigh your plate, and dig in! There's also a menu with drinks and other nibbles on the table, and a friendly server will be by to check on you. I had a full plate of food and a green smoothie (get the Granny Loves Spinach!) for less than 14€. I'm not a vegetarian by any standards, but definitely did not feel like anything was lacking. The highlights of the meal were the wasabi hummus, spinach strudel, and super fresh roasted veggies. We were too full to order anything more, but the dessert case also looked amazing! HOW on earth is this place so 'liked'???? I get it. The interior is incredible. Modern, sleek, clean. It is appealing. It is worthy of the two stars I gave it. The problem with the place is the food and service. I didn't go here with purpose. I was wandering around the Christmas market and needed a place with wifi and somewhere to warm my hands immediately. I stumbled upon this place, which from the outside looked rather sexy and inviting. I went in, they explained the concept to me, and I figured it would be a good place to chill for an hour or so. The concept is that it is a vegetarian buffet. But not a buffet where you eat your heart out, it is a buffet that you weigh your plate and pay for the weight of it after the food is on it. Decent concept I suppose. It took me about ten minutes to fill up a plate and I filled it with lots of variety and different items. Probably close to ten different items. As I got back to my table, still no service for drinks. I waited and waited, and finally went up to the cashier area and asked where my server was. A server finally came my way. I ordered a beer. About fifteen minutes later, a large still water came my way from a different server. I told him I didn't order this and had given the waitress an order for beer. Annoyed and thirsty, I told him to just leave it and I'd drink it. About ten minutes later, the first waitress came back to my table with a beer. The second waiter had informed her of the screw up and she brought the beer. I was cringing hoping I would not have to pay for both as my stupid plate of crap food was already 13 Euros. So, onto the food.... Horrible. Just horrible. It tasted like it was put together by a kid with no palate. Apparently the chef or founder of this place was award-winning and I'm still baffled at the news of that. I love the concept and idea of a vegetarian place, but the food needs to be tasty. There were some creative items on the buffet, but tasty? Nope. I have had better food at vegan cafes with owners with no culinary training. I am unsure if this buffet changes from day to day, but I am going to pray that it does for future diner's sake. Maybe I just hit it on a bad day... When it was time to pay, I learned that I was not charged for the water, which was cool. I think the serving staff knew I was frustrated with the service as they began being more attentive so I didn't have to wait all night to get things I needed. I am not a needy diner, I just don't enjoy waiting thirty minutes for a bill if I see you standing around doing nothing and you're being paid to do something. I will never go back here. BUT- if you're a vegetarian and curious, I suggest you go here, ask to check out the buffet, and then make a decision. It may change and have different offerings each day. The buffet I ate consisted of some awful curry with butter beans or something, many Russian-esque salads (which I usually enjoy, but these lacked taste), and several rice and potato options. After reading a few reviews here, I was ready to believe that my few leaves of salad would cost me a fortune. However, my plate (see photo) cost a bit over 5 eur. And it is a decent antipasti plate, isn't it. I was not too hungry, and with a bit of homemade bread that they bring in addition (was a bit old, but very tasty) this was exactly right. This is a very interesting concept, and an interesting concept is always interesting to see. Prices seem to make sense in the end whether you believe it or not - main courses are generally heavier, and if you get greedy and go for both main and appetizer, it will cost you approximately the same as when you order both in a 'normal' restaurant. I don't see what's wrong with that. In fact, I love the idea of redefining the "cheap" buffet food from pure greediness which only results in waste, to a more careful selection process, which is directly connected to your wallet, and environment. However, Yamm and I will probably not fall in love. Most of those stars are because of the neat possibility to meet friends with small kids here. There is a relatively small but sufficient play-area, cleverly separated from the rest of the place - so if you are not into that, you will not even notice, and if you are looking for somewhere to chat with a mum of a 2-3 year old, you will be more than happy. The reason we will not fall in love is the following: I don't like its artificial atmosphere. The lighting, black walls, then again all the colours, supposed to look modern and fresh like a smoothie, and modern.. but you come in from the sunny day outside, and you feel like entering some sort of a chamber. Despite the large windows, you have no idea about the early spring any more. At 6 o'clock, the lights get even dimmer, you are thinking, ok time for disco must be soon. It is indeed nothing else but the interior of a (breakfast) dining room of a modern, impersonal 4 star hotel. I understand that this will be up to a taste of lots of people though. As for me, especially because of the "healthy" food it propagates, this interior has missed the topic somehow. The food itselft... I haven't tasted everything, but what I had was decent, though not excessively yamm!ie. The curry humus was tasty indeed. Homemade Mango Lassi - very average. Those other thingies - ok, but a bit on the sour side, no special twists.. a bit boring and chewy after a while - as someone else said: it couldn't convert anyone from meat-eating. I am not a meat addict - on the contrary, but I had to think as soon as the place is religiously vegetarian or not to mention vegan - the fun with veggies usually gets lost, and only "healthy" aspect remains. The service on the other hand is excellent indeed. And one thing I really enjoyed was being able to read the ingredients everywhere. I might not be a vegan, but I also have a problem with industrially processed substitutes that vegan sometimes relies on - so knowing what's in what is important for all sides - thumbs up for that. I will probably go a few more times because of mums with kids anyway, so let's see if my opinion can still evolve somehow. read more

Very good meal. You get a buffet and pay 2.7 for each 100g of food served. They give you a card that saves your weight and you take it to the table. A waiter then comes and takes your drink order. There are really lots of options. I'm not a vegan/vegetarian but with this food I'll consider it. Try the Quinoa and the apfel salad. The falafel aren't great but ok. Since there are at least 10 cold options and 10 warm options you can try a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Careful though 100g are really too little food. I think a meal would go for more or less 300-400 grams. Worth trying if you want something different (which is my case as a meat lover). However before 12 the price is 1.90 per 100g. read more

Fantastic fantastic fantastic vegan (and vegetarian) food! This is a by the kilo restaurant that is aesthetically pleasing and has delicious food. I had the glass noodles, wasabi hummus, and tortilla stuffed with sweet potato and bean. So savory. So far my spouse and I have eaten three meals in two days because we loved it so much. Not to be missed is the hazelnut chocolate torte. I love cakes and sweets and getting an amazing vegan torte is pure heaven. The prices are reasonable and if you eat there before 11:00 am the price is cheaper. The wait staff is friendly, helpful, and nice. Update, you must try the vegan breakfast. We did not even read the menu since we saw the fantastic buffet and stuck to that for the first couple of days. On the third day, we tried the vegan breakfast and it was such a beautiful presentation and wonderfully tasty as well. You get vegan cheese, vegan cold cuts, fruit, hummus, juice, buns, and a number of other delightful additions. It is also reasonable. read more

They have the best changing and play area I have yet to find in Vienna! In the changing room there is a microwave and bottle warmer and the changing table is super comfortable and clean. i like it when i don't have to choose just one thing from a menu, that way i don't feel like i have to pick the best one! do a lap around the whole buffet and start with small portions since its gonna fill up fast. it is rather expensive i paid 11.50 for my plate but it definitely left me with no room for dessert! some dishes were excellent, some just ok so thats why you should be careful not to load up too much on something just in case you dont end up liking it! too bad all the names were in german so i just had to take a chance with some, luckily you know they are all vegetarian so no crazy surprises. nice ambiance, friendly service. some sort of group area that is really beautiful upstairs, maybe good for a gathering, probably nice and easy for service and paying in a group since its buffet. oh and yay stürm! read more

Very impressed with the whole experience. The food was delicious and a good variety. The staff was friendly and quick, though not hovering around your table. Most notable, very children friendly. They have highchairs, change table and a play room for under four year olds with table directly in front of it to supervise. Which meant we could enjoy our meal while the little one was able to move around without disturbing anyone else in the restaurant. Very impressed and would definitely go back. read more

We went there for breakfast this morning and the service was terrible, to the point that we left and went somewhere else. They were totally disinterested in taking our order. I suspect this business will not be around in a few years if the quality of staff remains at such a low level. By far, our favorite meal in Vienna, our favorite ambiance, our favorite service. Tough to be vegan in a city that loves Wiener schnitzel. We did not have a reservation. We decided to visit on a Saturday night. We were promptly greeted where the host explained to us 'how it works.' We found comfortable, cushiony seats, and went to make our selections from the buffet. We LOVED the choices, the freshness, the flavor, the ease of reading the labels on what was included. We even loved the great lounge music--such an inviting atmosphere. Would go again. I was in Vienna a few weeks ago and was excited to see this place. I'm from LA and I'm spoiled with options over here, I was scared I wouldn't find anything in Austria. I'm vegan but my family is vegetarian so they were able to get what they wanted and I got what I wanted. The selection is huge, you just have to be careful when you pile the food on your plate because it all adds up! The desserts were awesome, I had three of them. Very nice concept and delicious food. The vegetarian options are diverse and also quite creative and interesting, which I found excellent. Staff are also very nice especially for Vienna. Water is free, but the food is rather expensive in my opinion. There is also a kids' area which is a great concept again.
