An experienced musician teaches the group how to play the songs as a band from a classic album or band or niche genre, often as suggested by the community. And Beacon turns out to holler for the class's performance in a local bar and the bands dress up to the nines. My friends and I loved so many of these classes: Purple Rain, 90s Women Rock, Buddy Holly, London Calling. The teachers give great private lessons too. A homegrown gem of a music program.

She has had and continues to have an incredibly positive experience, is challenged by the fantastic teachers, and continues to grow as a dancer. We dropped by 4 different studios and we knew PDC was for us! My 4-year-old daughter has been with PDC for 2 years and we absolutely love being a part of the PDC family! Classes are nurturing and positive, age-appropriate but certainly teaches the little ones to push themselves and do their best as little ballet and tap dancers! Owner, Paige L., and the toddler teacher, Ashley A., are absolutely amazing with the children! Each brings their excitement, their expertise, and their big hearts to the classes. Even the older dancers, who sometimes cross paths with the 2-4 year old class (or on the recital days) are so sweet and loving! They are like big sisters to the little dancers, taking them under their wing and making them feel like important parts of the PDC family. These girls have become extended family. All the parents look out for each other's daughters and support them with encouragement and love. There are workshops with special guest dancers and they have a winter performance for dancers who'd like to participate. The studio is an adorable boutique studio - small and quaint but perfect. Parents can sit right outside the class and watch. PDC is conveniently located right on Route 6 in Mahopac and parking is available behind the studio. If you are looking for a dance studio that feels like family, I highly recommend giving PDC a try!

We enrolled our daughter in classes after reading so many wonderful reviews about this school. We…read morewere excited to meet the staff and see what our daughter would be doing, as we had in other schools that she had been in. After being delayed for 4 weeks due to construction, and then being told the week before the school had actually moved, we arrived to a new building with no little to no parking and no signs saying where the school was. When we finally found it, we were greeted with a mask mandate that wasn't communicated, and a room that was a quarter of the size of their old space. These things we could deal with. It was what followed that completely soured our opinion of the school. The man at the entrance simply told about the masking and then told us that we could leave and didn't have to stick around. While he was polite, we were confused. In other schools, we more than welcome to wait and watch our daughter enjoy her class. When we told him we wanted to wait, he got annoyed and immediately got the owner. When she approached us she explained that they don't allow the parents to wait and that we should use this as "free time" and that we could come back five minutes before class ended to watch. She then basically pushed us out of the building. This wasn't communicated before hand, so our daughter was upset by this. Once we assured her we were just outside, we left to find other parents waiting in the parking lot just as confused and irritated as us. One parent went back in to complain, and instead of being gracious and helping we later heard the headmistress aggressively complaining to her staff about the parent, fully in front of the children they were supposed to be teaching. When we went back to watch, the instructors were already cleaning up and the headmistress had to tell the instructor to go back and show us what they had taught our daughter. We were greeted with a 5 minute stretching session that showed us nothing that our daughter didn't already know before going into the class. Between this all this, the complete lack of communication on the staff's part and the fact that the classes are 30 minutes long, which is half the time other dance studios are offering at twice the price, this studio does not hold its value at all.
