Until I met Marcela, I was bouncing around salons and different techs. Getting my nails done was a nuisance but necessary. Having met Marcela a year ago has transformed my life. Every time I get a new set I get an outpour of compliments and questions on where I got them done in person and on Instagram. Every couple weeks I'll think of ideas for my next set, send her pics and we collaborate to create nail art. The salon was very clean but it was uncomfortably warm; almost hot. They tried to lower the a/c but…read moreit really never was cool. A couple of the nail techs were fanning themselves so it wasn't just me. I had been texting with "Sofia" a few times but after being at the salon I am not so sure "Sofia" actually exists. That said, the person I had been texting with and to whom I explained my situation (still recovering from surgery) and what I needed promised me that she would personally do my mani/pedi and that I would receive excellent service and I even received a text Saturday morning saying "Today's the big day etc." We arrived approximately 3:25 for the 3:30 appointments and were pleasantly greeted by two nail techs. I asked for "Sofia" and was told she was not there. I was very surprised and asked when she would be back and was told that they weren't sure but maybe two hours (she never came back while we were there. Shame on her). I explained that she had promised to do my mani/pedi and that I wasn't happy she wasn't there especially after her text in the morning. They apologized and seemed eager to take care of us so I agreed. The tech who started my pedi was very sweet but not very experienced. She also asked if she could take a picture showing her work and I said yes. She started and I could tell she really didn't have much experience and I was starting to feel very uncomfortable. After 40 minutes working on one foot and not even ready to start the other foot I asked her to please stop and is there a manager I could speak with. She brought her over and she fixed as much as she could and then began working on my other foot. When that was done I explained what I wanted for the mani. She worked hard and did a fair job. When all was said and done we were there over 4 1/2 hours which is a very long time. I've had this same mani/pedi for years in the many different places I have lived and it has never, not once, taken such a long time. Couple that with the chairs being very uncomfortable and the a/c not cooling this was not a good experience. It was a disappointing experience to say the least. During the text exchanges with "Sofia" I stated that I'm a bit of a perfectionist and need someone very experienced. None of our services were close to what was promised. I was assured that I would be very pleased and that she would do the mani/pedi and another experienced tech would do my cousin's. Neither of us will go back and if asked will not recommend. This is a small salon and it is very, very clean. We saw 4 nail techs working and one person taking payments. I do want to acknowledge again how very nice the nail techs are and how hard they tried and that is the only reason I left a generous tip. Based on how our mani/pedi turned out I would have tipped the bare minimum or less. What they need is a lot more experience. I am a supporter of small businesses and I think Sofia Nails & Spa could be successful but it will take a lot of time. A clean salon and nice nail techs is a good start but they need a whole lot more than clean and nice in my opinion. **Additionally, after looking closely at my pedi and how many nails are not completely polished; they are bare on the sides and unevenly filed and polished. I am very disappointed! My mani looks at least a week old except for the shine. Each one of my cousin's nails are a different shape with polish left on her skin. Whomever reads this from Sofia Nails & Spa should consider themselves lucky that I don't put a stop payment on my check. The services performed were disgraceful and very disappointing. I don't blame the techs because they really tried but their lack of experience is on the owner. They need to be properly taught and they were not. I would never recommend them. I would say to anyone considering going: BUYER BEWARE!
