My cousin recommended this spot to get my passport photos done. I finally stopped by. It was quick, simple, and CRAZY cheap. CASH ONLY. When you go in, you mention what you are looking for. They tell you to walk into a room. You can comb/fix your hair and put on makeup. It's nothing crazy though. It's a DIY space. The photographer who takes your photo ensures you are positioned properly between each picture. Then, they allow you to choose from a few options - 3. At first, when I saw my photos, I thought it was iffy. I was not too fond of the way it turned out. Once you are done choosing, they will work on printing out the photos. In less than 10 minutes, I was out the door. Once it came out, I liked it. One task is done. Cheaper than any other options I've seen and more personalized service/options. I will be back maybe the next time I renew my passport OR I need photos again for something else. I would also recommend this spot to my own family and friends if they ever ask. read more

My party of two were not greeted upon entering and the staff was visibly disgruntled with a surly, curt dismissive with the appearance that we disturb them because they have to service us. Yardley offers a small studio with seating, lighting and backdrop in the rear to give the illusion of a professional photography studio. There is a mirror for guests to make yourself presentable preventing the appearance of criminal mug shot-ish. The person pushing the shutter button instructed me NOT to smile- not even a grin or a twinkle but to appear melancholy and expressionless. The staff are extremely limited to English speaking skills- LEP (Limited English Proficiency). The owner's attitude is HORRIBLE- abject pain! The owner was reluctant to give me a sales receipt as I requested who gave me a rude scowl look that I made her burn energy to do actual work. It did not take long for the photos to be printed. The result was four (4) passport photos for $10.00 (without tax) for a criminal mug shot appearance which is embedded onto my U.S. passport for ten (10) eternity years- AIJA! I usually go to CVS for my passport photos, they charge $10 for 2 (with the $2 off coupon) which is on the lower end compare to the UPS ($13 for 2) and Fedex ($15 for 2) stores around me, but since I needed 8 photos this time I wasn't ready to pay all that money on some not-so-flattering passport photos. Went in to Develop some 135 color negative, Nice people great prices. Everything was pretty straight forward. They even cut the film for you if you want them to and they put it in a nice sleeve. I was in and out of the place in 10 min. I got 4 passport photos for $10!! That is so cheap. Cash only. They will give you tissue to blot your face, my face was sweaty because it was a hot New York summer. There is also a mirror so you can make yourself look presentable. The lady at the counter didn't speak much English but there is a younger guy there who speaks excellent English.They took 3 photos, one with no smile, one with a smile but with no teeth showing, and one with a normal smile with your teeth showing. He uses a professional lighting setup and lens in an actual studio which is not something you're going to typically find at just any place that offers to take passport shots. And the results show it. If there is a non-star level I will def give them a "0"!!!! First of all the male photographer's English is very poor and he refused to speak mandarin to me. Secondly, his attitude is the worst in the world! Third, he gave me a wrong size visa photo, I need a 35*45, but he gave me a 37*48!!! I never saw a passport photo has this weird size. Also, the size of my head in this photo is even bigger the. my head in my 35*50cm photo. I have to retake my photo in case that the consulate won't accept this horrible quality photo. Also, he was very offended when I asked him that if he will do a little bit photoshop on the random hair showed up behind my ear. He said that if everything can be fixed by photoshop then there is no need to take a real photo! But what I was asking is very easy to be fixed! When I retake photos, his attitude was even worse! I got my passport photos done here in less than15 minutes by a friendly, old lady photographer who was meticulous about getting me the best picture. It was 4 pictures for something really cheap, I think $7? It definitely wasn't over $10. It's 27 cents each if you print less than 50 photos overall, 25 cents each if you do on just Kodak paper, while I get my crisp and nice Fujifilm photos from Rite Aid at 15 cents. I've printed and processed most of my photos from this place. It's a convenient location for me. I mainly come here now to process 35MM NEGATIVE FILM so this review is only based on that: - really quick, 1-hour process/prints (but not when you drop it off at 6pm and expect it to be done at 7pm when they close) - film comes back clean, no chemical streaks -processing is $3something which is CHEAP! -scanning on a CD is an additional $5 -developing them is around an additional $5 too i gave them a 120mm roll once, but i wasn't quite happy with the results: -printed the photos large, like a 5x5 in. should be for the money's worth but i was more satisfied with the clean 4x5 white border prints from Sunshine Color Lab. -i would only give them to process...since i have access to a free film scanner anyway as for DIGITAL PRINTS, they have self-serve machines where you pick the photos on a ubs or CD or SD card, print out the receipt and pay. it also takes only around an hour. but on the pricey side unless you're printing 30+ photos they also do passport and studio photos, but no idea $-wise ***they also have specials such as if you print a max # of photos, they give you a free enlarged photo*** they've been in business for 15 years+, i trust them with my photos because thats what they specialize, not crappy, what-"professional"-handles-your-film service like CVS read more

I have a emergency appointment with the passport agency on Monday so I had called Yardley on Thurs speaking asking in English over the phone asking if they did passport photos and a woman picked up who said harshly to someone else at Yardley "English speaker and I don't know what he wants" while never asking me to hold on. Then a man answered who told me they did take photos for passports. I asked how much and he said $8 for 2 photos. I asked what time they close which he responded 6:30pm. And thanked him before hanging up. It's a great price but I couldn't make it in time after work. The next day I called on Friday and the same woman picked up - I asked her in English what time you guys close and again the woman said harshly to someone else at Yardley "English speaker and I don't know what he wants" while never asking me to hold on. Then I interrupted and asked her in Cantonese - what time do you close. She then responded 7pm. I said great I can make it after work. So I make it to Yardley at exactly 6:47pm as per my iPhone and asked the woman in Cantonese (definitely the same one on the phone) if I can have 2 passport photos taken. She tells me with a slight arrogance they shut off the machines at 6:45pm as she looks at the wall clock. In my head I was like it's exactly 6:48pm now and you said you were open till 7pm! I wasn't about to argue with the woman it was just 2-3 mins after their "shut off time on their machines" as I thinking if you don't want my business that is fine. I told her thank you and left. But since I was in a bind I walked back in and asked her if she knew of any other local photo shops or places nearby that did passport photos and she gave me another arrogant tone of voice/look and just said "no, I don't know". I am thinking how can you not know of any photo shops when you are in the business and been in business in the same location for as long as I remember as a kid ( I am 40 years old now)! From this experience on the phone and in person I would not recommend Yardley Studios. I will take my future business else where even if they are a bit cheaper in price. I actually walked a block and asked a pharmacy if they took passport pics or know of where I could go in the area they told me to walk a couple of blocks to 50B Mulberry St where I found a small photo shop named VITAL ARTS PHOTO CENTER INC with a woman named May. The owner's attitude can not be worse enough. I was just trying to confirm whether they know the requirements of passport photo by the country I am applying to. The photographer seemed to be offended, asking me to write the requirements in black and white. This is very ridiculous and seems to be a retaliation. For someone who has been in this business for years, I could not believe they would humiliate customers in this way by telling them to write the requirements. All they need to do as professional is to tell customers," Yes, we know that. Please let us take care of this and you could rely on our services". I randomly put down some bullet points and he started to make comments like," I do not understand how come they use a percentage as measurement. Please go figure it out and come back." I agree with all the 1 star reviewers. This place deserve a minus 1 for customer service. They had the nerve to try and rip my non english speaking mother by trying to sell her the negatives. She is elderly and on fixed income why are you trying to make a quick dollar by dupping her. All she needed was 2 passport photos. My experience was not any better. My passport photo looked heinous. I was not allowed to smile or grin and the lady which I am led to believe was the owner was adament about me combing out my curls cause as she points out it will cost more to retake the photo. Waste of time. I'm not sure why, but this place is one of the few places that develops film in the LES. Based on previous reviews, I thought this would be a perfect spot for me. The store itself is tucked away behind a ramp, making it hard to locate. When I walked in, they looked at my 35mm Astia roll and my 35mm Kodachrome roll and said no. I went to take my Canadian passports here after doing a bit of research and thought why not give it a try? When I got in the photographer was as blunt as the previous reviews but everything went super smoothly. I looked hideous in my first take but he noticed and gave me photography posing tips for the second take (yes he let me retake!). It was $20 but pretty cheap for Canadian ones. This is probably one of the worst photo taking experience. Photographer was so rude. After they took the pic, she told me to get out and wait. But I was looking for my glasses, so I said I need to find my glasses. And she yelled back, I didn't take your glasses. And then when I was paying for the photo, the cashier asked me how many photos I need, 2 or 4? I said 2. And paid $9. But immediately ( I mean like without 0.5 seconds of paying for it, I said let's do 4, cuz it was only a dollar more. But the cashier replied, nope, u said 2 already. I got the passport photos at Yardley based off of the great reviews that I found on Yelp. I have to say that I was not disappointed at all. The price can't be beat, but the location leaves a little to be desired, because it is really hidden. It is tucked away at this dead end street (if you can call it that) right next to Confucius Plaza and next to the bridge. The owner/photographer was very professional. He directed me to sit with good posture, proper head tilt and had the right photo equipment to get good lighting for the photo. You have to get a good shot for something as important as a passport photo. I was very pleased with the photo and I was able to choose from multiple shots! Apparently, as I found out from my mom that this is a very old mom and pop shop which seems like it has been passed down from father to son. I gotta support local businesses like this!
