They canceled my 1st appointment because I was running late after driving 40 min even though we had the appointment right afterwards. We told them we did not want to return to the office. Then they sent a letter telling us we were no longer welcome in the office. Then they tried to charge me a cancelation fee for the appointment they canceled which I told them I absolutely wasn't paying...so now for some reason 2 years later they tried to bill me again for the cancelation fee ‍ I still will not be paying it read more

I read some reviews and I thought I would call first. The woman who answered the phone reluctantly scheduled an appointment for my two buys, then went on a tangent about how they are a mandatory vaccination clinic. Now I am not anti-vac in any way, however I think first and on my own, and I clarified. Asking, so, if the CDC recommends you give my toddler 5 vaccines at once at a certain date and I instead ask to spread them out over 6 month giving one at a time, you will not do that for me? She said yes, they give whatever vaccines they feel are necessary at the time they are needed, no matter what the parents say. I'm not going to get into a discussion about the laws or what is actually allowed, but if a Dr. thinks the CDC and the Dr. get to make decisions for what they think is best for my family then they can all go pound sand. Not only am I never going near that place, but I am telling everyone in my parents groups and every single person I am able about my experience with them. read more

Our family has had the WORST experience with Dr. Clarissa Smith. She is unkind, unfeeling, cold and dismissive. My son has had some serious health conditions and she dismissed them with no feeling or compassion. I would NOT recommend this office. There is a sensitivity chip missing in this woman and she would be more suited for a prison than a pediatric office. read more

My kids have dealt with a lot of health problems and I know the difference between a provider that is compassionate, and one that is in it for the money. Also, some advice, send out reminders to your patients that they have an appointment. Stop sending out petty letters in all caps to your patients if they don't show up. I can't believe there are so many negative comments, except that most people only write reviews when they have a complaint which gives a a very skewed perspective. My son was born with complications. For the first few months of his life he kept falling off the charts in his growth. With the help of Yavapai Pediatrics, and Dr Smith guiding me and teaching me as a new mom he is now two years old and so healthy and BIG (tallest in his class)! Not only has Dr smith and the rest of the staff at Yavapai Pediatrics always been so positive and patient with my son, but they always make me feel like I am a great mom. During our visits we have also gotten to meet a couple of Medical students that are doing their clinical training. It is fun to see that Dr Smith takes the times to help prepare new, up and coming doctors in the practice of pediatric medicine. I would highly recommend Yavapai pediatrics for any family including those who's children have had health issues and other high risk complications. By the way the rooms are all decorated different and our favorite is the DINOSAUR room! read more

I stopped bringing my children here after multiple issues. We usually saw the same doctor every visit, but for some reason we were scheduled with someone new. This doctor came into the room, never introduced himself, then immediately determined a prognosis after barely looking at my child. (It was really ridiculous btw). The office is also VERY vaccine strict. You can't deter off the vaccine schedule even slightly without them being completely rude to you. I have never been so upset leaving a doctor's office not once but THREE times. I had to switch pediatricians due to a sudden move, and let me tell you I'm debating making a two hour drive when my son needs to be seen. Every single time I've come the receptionist is fairly rude, never smiles or interacts, and every time I've come they call my VERY OBVIOUS BOY a girl!!! They have the chart in front of them! Secondly, my son has had issues, like passing out, seizures, hives, fevers, etc. The first time I've met the Dr is the third visit because I requested it due to my son being sick for over a week. I waited 40 min in the waiting room which isn't too bad, got into the room, where dr Smith came in, looked in my son's ears, basically called me a liar as the hives had disappeared after the 3rd day of having them, said she didn't know what is was about but it was "probably" roseola. PROBABLY??? His toenails and nails are FALLING OFF TOO AND YOU "Think" it MIGHT be from something months ago? The appointment was a whole two minutes (no exaggeration) to not even have a solid diagnoses. If she hadn't have practically ran out of the room I would've demanded a blood test to confirm it wasn't other things. I will be switching ASAP. read more

Dr. Smith is absolutely wonderful! She is the most friendly expert we know, and uses her knowledge to serve a population it's obvious she loves working with! We wouldn't dream of taking our son anywhere else, even in the valley, and are so thrilled that he has been able to receive the level of care he has in our town! Any time I've had questions, her nurse staff have gotten back to me the same day and are always very friendly and helpful, never bothered by the plethora of questions a first-time mother has! It's obvious that they see the bigger picture- the more helpful they are to me with any questions I may have, the better care a precious child receives. We recently brought our child to Yavapai Pediatrics where she was seen by Dr. Smith. We have struggled to find passable care in PV and always just felt like "a number" at other practices. It was fine, but often felt a little discouraging. Then we went to Yavapai Peds. I don't leave a lot of reviews but the care we received from Dr. Smith and her team warranted it. This place is fantastic! We hardly waited in the waiting room. They were incredibly patient (spent over an hour with my daughter on two occasions), competent without being condescending (did a fantastic job of connecting with our child), and the staff is spectacular. This is a practice that really cares about kids, and I would recommend it to any parent in the area who is sick of halfhearted doctors visits where your kid is rushed through and your questions aren't answered. read more

Every time you come you see someone new never the actual doctor. They like to push multiple appointments instead of just getting to the point. My son projectile vomited all weekend when I took him in they told me water only for 2/3 days on my 6 month old! You're crazy! They fought with me to put my son on soy, knowing I had tried everything else. I'm the type of patient - and parent - with a strong belief in Western Medicine and a true desire to understand what's going on. That said, I absolutely love the medical staff at Yavapai Pediatrics. They are good at explaining what's going on without a lot of confusing medical jargon. My infant son has always been handled with a gentle touch by smiling professionals. I also like the fact that I can call and leave a question for a nurse. I've done this several times with questions about everything from diaper rash to feedings to medication. My calls have been returned in a very reasonable timeframe by a friendly, non-judgmental person who is sympathetic to a new mom. :) Dr Smith was even able to set a broken leg for my son, which saved me extra paperwork at the orthopedist! However, I do have to deduct a star for two reasons. First, when I call, I have to listen to hours and location information before I can talk to anyone. It's a bit annoying when I want to get through to somebody. Also, some of the front office staff can be a bit abrupt. They seem to immediately demand copays and paperwork right when you walk in. I understand this is needed, but can I finish signing in and put my toddler down first? Overall I would highly recommend them, despite these minor issues. Our family couldn't be more happy with Yavapai Pediatrics. They always return my calls quickly. They are fantastic about getting us in for appointments that day, and when you do go in the wait is short. The doctor and nurse practitioner are simply fabulous! A while ago, we went to another local pediatrician and they continuously misdiagnosed my son with eczema, we then went to Dr.Smith and we learned my son has an intolerance to dairy products. This place is a joke. Not sure which female doctor we saw but we had to wait twenty mins past our appt time (which is fine) and then we go back and my daughter has had a fever for over a week. (103) and this doctor could only recommend a chest x ray. When I refused because she said my daughters lungs sounded fine she kept pushing and pushing me after I kept saying no I don't want to do that. I walked out with no answers and no rx. I went to an urgent care the next day and they figured out she had a UTI and got her on antibiotics right away. She is 24 hours fever free now. Why didn't this doctor even suggest that? You know you have a bad pediatrician when after dropping your kid off to preschool, the receptionist reads out loud that you go to Yavapai Pediatrics and 5 other moms in the room all make a face. It would appear that this is a well known fact among moms and dads in this town but I'm surprised I don't see more negative reviews about her. Dr Smith has this way of making you feel like a total failure as a parent. I've seen her twice this year with my 2 toddlers and each time walked out feeling awful. She comes across very strong and judgmental. Completely dismisses any medical or school professional in this town as incompetent. Please keep in mind that she has very little experience yet comes across like she's the most qualified person in this town (even more so than the parent). Now I know some people may say "well it's because she cares so much about her patients" and this is what I've been telling myself too but trust me this is not the case here. Horrible! I will never take my children to her. Dr.Smith came off as rude and unprofessional. My son came in with a high fever of 106 to the ER. They did chest xray which came back with starting Punomina. They start strong antibiotics injection for it. The next day Dr Smith said it wasn't Punomina and would check for strep and RSV which both came out negative. But she still gave the injections. As i am telling her my concerns she is basically telling me its normal for my 3 year old to be sick for 3 months. Then when walking out the room talks bad about me to the other nurse like i cant hear. Unprofessional and rude. I wouldn't recommend her. read more

Our time at Yavapai Pediatrics was ok. Dr. Smith had poor bed side manner, she was unpleasant and cold during appointments.We really enjoyed Christen, she was nice and caring. Took extra time to spend getting to know the family and go over health care concerns. This practice has an unrealistic "no show" policy. If you miss 2 separate appointments you are dismissed from the office. Who does that? I was told I was not even allowed to explain to Dr. Smith why the appointment was missed. While the visit was pleasant for the most part and I do understand Drs are busy, Dr Smith spent very little time with us to get to know my 2 year old. We just moved up here and I loved his previous pediatrician so I was hoping to have someone like her. I urge any parents to look past the new décor of the office, and ignore the fresh paint, pretty toys and neat children's seats of Yavapai Pediatrics. If you plan on trusting the "Dr." to pay close attention to your child's overall wellness, take a few moments to consider her few years of experience and general lazy attitude towards your concerns. As a parent that brought her two children to her practice that suffered humiliation and rejection I plead with anyone willing to take a chance on this "Dr." a very stern warning. Her office visits are rushed to the point of making you totally feel like a complete nuisance and inconvenience. Your questions and or worries will be brushed off, smirked at and not taken seriously. She will barely listen to you, rush you in and out of the office and then take her time billing your insurance to reap the rewards of a job poorly done. She utterly failed to notice my oldest needs major physical therapy, missed his herniated umbilical cord that needs surgery, and skipped the vision screening which would have shown, he needs glasses. If that wasn't enough of a reason to not trust her judgment she utterly blundered on correctly diagnosing my youngest sons allergies to milk, eggs, and peanuts, of which he now requires an epi-pen. But let's not put all the blame on the "Dr.", the nurse practicioner hardly cared about my sons month long mysterious illness, scarcely checking his ears, and refusing to give him medication of any kind. In my understandable upset response to my sons deteriating health she told me if I didn't like what she said I could 'go somewhere else'. I did in fact, end up 'going somewhere else'. I took him to the Hospital, and he not only NEEDED antibiotics, but steroids as well. So in conclusion, I think if you take a really good look at the overall quality of care of the "Dr's" at Yavapai Pediatrics, I'm sure you'll find that something very major is definitely amiss. read more
