I was dropping off a friend in the area and found out this Turkish restaurant was near me so I wanted to give it a try. Honestly, I went in without expecting much; however, surprisingly this place is the best Turkish restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia, in my humble opinion. Why? First, ambience is wonderful. Restaurant was clean and beautifully decorated. There were Turkish vases hanging on the walls, handmade Turkish carpet at the vestibule of the restaurant, and pretty paintings all around the room. Absolutely loved every detail they came up with. Second, customer service was sensational and authentic. For example, the server named "Tugba" helped me with a big smile the entire time. She got my order and delivered in a timely manner. I don't think I waited more than 3 minutes for my starter and more than 7-9 minutes for my main dish. Third, food was delicious as heck. As a Turkish person, I did not expect this high quality of taste and delivery. It was actually super delicious!! Overall, 5 out of with full confidence. I will highly recommend to all my friends and family members. Tasting notes purely for my own memory. Grilled Shrimp and French Fries: Kiddo and adults loved them. Kids Grilled Chicken: Kiddo liked but not as much as the shrimp. Had a very strong grilled flavor but also stayed fairly soft and not dried out. Roasted potatoes: Soft and well seasoned. Adults liked them but it was a bit too much seasoning for the kiddo. Falafel: These are fine but not great. Instead of being balls with a soft center, they're flat pucks that are more fried surface than center. Not the kind of falafel I crave. Trio of Hummus, Cacik, and Htipiti. These were all good, not stellar, but worth getting again. Two pieces of bread was a good amount for these. Overall, this place seems to do the grilled foods quite well. The rest was good enough that I believe they likely have some real gems on the menu; I just need to try more to find em. It reminded my friend of falafel that his mother used to make. The main dish was supposed to be a mixture of diff. meats, however it was mostly chicken, which was slightly disappointing. We decided to give Yayla Bistro a try for my husband's birthday. We did make reservations and I am glad we did. The restaurant was very busy, but the energy was good. The service was excellent and Sibel was delightful! She was helpful with menu selections and was able to explain some of the dishes in detail. The food selections were very good and the grilled meats were done to perfection. We ordered the apricot delight for dessert and loved it. We would definitely recommend Yayla Bistro. The atmosphere was friendly and several tables had children, but it is not noisy like many restaurants. Yayla's was perfect. They serve the full menu on Saturday, not just the brunch menu. We had baba ganoush, and halloumi to share and moussaka, manti, and kofte platter for entrees. Our experience didn't live up to our expectations. We had heard a lot about this place and went with another couple to enjoy a Sunday dinner. I think our mistake was going on Superbowl Sunday? For starters, we shared some Baba Ghanoush, Grilled Calamari, and their Mezza Platter (for two). Of those, the high point was the calamari for its tenderness, and the low point was mostly everything else for its tastelessness. I had the Lamb Shank for dinner. That consisted of a remarkably tender and tasty hunk of lamb sitting in a rectangular bowl of bland red sauce with a few root vegetables floating around. For my free-with-a-yelp-check-in dessert, I had the Coppa Pistachio. Like the rest of my meal, it suffered for being overly bland. Access is convenient, there's covered parking a few doors down, just to the right of the entrance. The staff was pleasant, attentive, and mostly wearing masks. The room was cozy while the tables were still socially distant from each other. From the other reviews, I really expected this place to do better and expect that we'll give them another chance to try. read more

This was my first time coming to this restaurant, which is surprising because it's across from my favorite seafood restaurant in VA. The decor is very nice for this restaurant. They have a front seating area for the bar and then a larger dining area. When we first came we were the only ones there but more people came after. It's a very nice classy decor. Our server was excellent. She explained the menu since it was the first time and gave great suggestions. It was my mom's birthday so I wanted her to try something new and we don't eat a lot of Turkish food. We had the zucchini cakes which were good and the creamy cheese under made it even better. I recommend the platter if you want a good sampling of the menu which we both ate from and still had some to go. Lastly I had the rice pudding which is more on the custard side than other rice puddings that I have had but still very delicious. I'm happy that the manager honored my free dessert check in. We came in a Sunday and I didn't realize that was for Monday to Thursday so that made me even more of a fan. I will definitely come again. read more

A delightful surprise kind of hidden from view. It's a classic old school restaurant with cloth table tops. Kid friendly, outdoor patio, and lots of Turkish influence on the menu obviously but with a western spin. You'll find a burger and a pizza on the menu but try to avoid those especially the burger because it's well done and with no Mayo or sauce/juice. The serving sizes are pretty large, too, especially considering the reasonable prices. Our waitress was super sweet and accommodating. On a Monday night the place was not super busy, so you won't need a reservation; we saw about 3 other groups on the outdoor patio and a few more indoors. The location is great with lots of street meter parking that goes about 20 mins per 25 cents.
