The bread was a nice touch. It was packed well! They were super busy when we arrived so it took about 10 minutes to check on us but were very apologetic. All good. The setting is very casual so not a romantic first date setting, but the food is delicious so if you want to impress via taste buds, then give it a try. Everything looked so good so we all tried different dishes for a wider experience. For starters we had tahdig, which I think is a must-try. I've wanted to try tahdig for awhile now and this hit my spot. For my meal, I had the pesto chicken kabobs, upgraded with shirin sweet polo rice, which was amazing on its own. It was good... service was incredible, interior very welcoming and cozy. But I still have to say for authentic flavors Kabob Baazar in Clarendon still feels more true to me, for grandmas cooking and flavors. She tried a few dishes from kabobs to pomegranate stew (which is notoriously challenging to make), and it all tasted OK. The reality is people adore it here and they have a huge following which I am glad for them as again the place and space its self is lovely ! But not the flavor profile that hits it totally right for us :). For a nicer Persian meal in McClean check out Divan as well, their flavor profile is much more of our choice :) read more

Met friends from out of town and came to enjoy a night out and to try a restaurant none of us had gone to before. The staff was very friendly and helpful making us feel comfortable and welcomed. We enjoyed the delicious smoked eggplant appetizer (enough for 4 to share). We ordered the Cornish hen, bone in lamb shank, the lentil and beef stew, and ground beef kabobs. When I want Kabobs in Northern Virginia, I only think of Amoo's. I know there are plenty of other places, but I really like their kabobs the best. The experience, although nice and updated, is not as much about the ambiance as much that the kabobs are reliably delicious here. And service is kind and friendly. I have ordered the basic chicken kabobs for myself and family, as well as splurged on the salmon kabobs. The house-made yogurt with minced shallots is good, but I prefer the housemate yogurt with cucumbers and sun-dried dill. Definitely visit! read more

In my humble opinion, this is one of the best places for koobideh (ground meat with spices)! I love how tender and juicy their meat is, even when taken to-go. Their portions are generous and the prices are comparable for the area. Our usual order at any Persian restaurant is koobideh and saffron chicken - and this place just does both these dishes so well. Their barg is delicious too and great quality. The rice is fluffy and flavorful as well as their pita. Their tahdig is delicious, but is offered as a priced menu item, whereas some places it is given upon request/availability. Nonetheless, this place is consistently delicious and quick with the service. The ambiance is very casual/simple, but clean. There are many flavorful options that separates this place from other kabab eateries. Party had a chicken and lamb kabob, served with naan like bread, with both being very good, and rice and a grilled tomato. Flavors and unique offerings galore. Your wallet's in a pinch? No problem, as there are plenty of affordable options (and you'll definitely have leftovers). What I particularly enjoyed were some of the options that you don't see too often. The Tahdig is a must-have appetizer if you're eating with a group - a mini meal in itself, you get truly flavorful crispy rice topped with wonderfully cooked meat to share. I also really loved the option to get a cornish game hen as the gamy taste of the meat paired well with the saffron lime spice blend they grilled it in. We got the house wine, which was very flavorful. And my wife particularly enjoyed saffron ice cream (a dessert I've not come across - loaded with pistachios as well). The lamb is juicy and fall of the bone (if you're wise enough to get it bone-in), and everything had a great char to it. The service was also really great. We were warmly greeted, the waiter struck a great balance of engaging and letting us have our conversation, and everyone we met was friendly. While in VA for a quick visit we decided to look for food we don't have back home. Looking for something different we found Amoo's and this Persian paradise was amazing. It's located in a small strip mall but do not let that fool you. The service we received from the moment we arrived by our server Ana and the rest of the staff was wonderful. Now on to the food. Where do I start we tried 4 different plates and mixed and matched. We tried for starters the hummus and Laboo - served with warm pita. Entrees we tried were the traditional Koobideh - the saffron chicken - Chimichurri Chicken - and a lamb dish (can't remember the name). This came with saffron rice and Fasl Seasonal Garden Salad. The meats were all so flavorful and tender. Everything was hot and fresh. For dessert we had to try both the saffron ice cream and the baklava! We loved it so much the sad part is when we crave this we will be too far to order Please give them a try. You will not be disappointed. We haven't been to many Persian restaurants, so it took time to understand the menu Saffron Iced Tea and Saffron Hot Tea Both were delicious, so refreshing. Kashk Bademjan Dip - Yogurt Eggplant Dip This was so good, spreading it on the bread. Mahicheh with Tahdig - Lamb Shank with bottom of the pot rice aka Concon aka Pegao Of course, hubby had to get the rice. His Dominican blood would not stand for him to pass this up, LOL. And he loved it. Cornish Hen with Baghali Polo They cut the Cornish Hen up for easy eating. I love that! It's so small and hard to eat when whole. Lima Bean rice was delicious. Small, family owned business serving classic Iranian/Persian dishes. The owners were very kind and welcoming- my friend and I came when it was empty so the service was fast. Overall a homey feeling on the inside. I got the Barg Soltani which includes a Barg Kabob and Koobideh Kabob. I was disappointed by the Barg- I hadn't had Barg in a while and recall it being flavorful, juicy, and tender. But, this was hard to cut, chewy, and not flavorful or juicy. However, their koobideh was nicely seasoned, easy to cut, and juicy. Although not a normal part of Persian cuisine, I enjoyed the green sauce/chutney provided as it actually had some heat to add to the bland rice and Barg kabob. The rice was salty and I wish butter came with it like at other Persian restaurants. My friend ordered the vegan tofu fesenjoon. I only tried the sauce and it was sweet, but good. They seemed to enjoy it. Overall, not bad food. But, I had higher expectations for the Barg which was a big disappointment for me. I expected more flavor from this place. Went at around 2 pm for a late lunch. The place was not crowded but folks started showing up as we were leaving. The service was good and they were patient and gave good recommendations. I am kinda bummed that I missed this place and did not gone here earlier. The menu is large but not overwhelming with something for everyone ie veg, lamb, chicken and beef with one bison option too. I had the puréed eggplant and pomegranate tapenade which my wife and I cleaned up. For the main course, we had lamb fillet with pomegranate sauce along with Shirin pulao. The order I placed via uber eats was incomplete. I called to tell them that my salad was not included in my order even though I was charged for it. The owner was willing to rectify and was very apologetic. His solution was that I place an order for a Diet Coke via uber eats and he will send the missing salad plus he will give me ice cream. I was hesitant to use uber eats for delivery because of the delivery charges. He said he will take care of it. Now I got my receipt and I was charged $10.73 by uber eats because of the service charge and the overpriced Diet Coke. I basically paid for the mediocre ice cream that he sent. One job. Check the order before you give it to the customer. Your solution is an epic failure. My food was already cold when the salad was delivered. Damn. Great restaurant - while I admit I have only had sit down meals there a few times, I have routinely ordered from their take-out menu and absolutely love the Koobideh (ground beef filet on bed of white rice). I admit parking lot can be full sometimes leaving you with the only option of parking across the street. I can't speak for the physical restaurant because we had delivery. We were staying in a hotel nearby and decided to order Amoo's for dinner based on the reviews. My husband had the bison and I had the chimichurri chicken skewers. Both of our meals came with saffron rice. I didn't try the bison but my husband loved it. The chicken skewers had great flavor, were cooked well and I loved the chimichurri sauce. It had a little spice to it which I liked. We also ordered the Kashk Bademjan Dip. I never had anything like it. It was savory but I also tasted what I think was cinnamon. I really enjoyed it. The bread we had was very good. We ordered baklava as well and it was the best baklava I've ever had. I loved that it had a lot of pistachios. We would definitely visit often if we lived in the area. My only complaint was our meals didn't come with plastic utensils which we needed since we were staying in a hotel. Luckily we were able to grab some from the front desk. This restaurant exceeded my expectations. It's rare that you find vegan kabobs at a Persian restaurants, and it was soooo good (speaking as someone who has had meat kabobs as well). We arrived without a reservation and were seated within 5 minutes, regularly checked up on, and even introduced to the owner of the restaurant. Everyone was very kind and double checked with us to make sure they got our order correct. The vegan Koobideh was definitely the star plate, so delicious with the roasted tomatoes. The Fesenjan Stew was not particularly my favorite - I was not expecting the the pomegranate flavors to be so prominent - but I can understand why others might like it. Still, it was a very unique dish and symbolic of Irani culture. If I went back again, I would opt to try a different stew. The Tahdig was also cooked perfectly, just like my mom makes it :) Overall, I would recommend the drive out to try this authentic and unique Irani joint. They also brought out some fresh flat bread with butter and what tastes like a chimichurri sauce. For drink try out the Saffron Iced Tea. For mains we ordered Chicken Soltani which is a combination of Saffron Chicken & Koobideh like a ground beef (reminded me of meatloaf). We opted for salad instead of rice. This was delicious 10/10 highly recommend. We also ordered Barg which is a beef tenderloin it wasn't bad but compared to the Chicken Soltani it was definitely underwhelming. We both loved the flat bread and butter. My dish was quite tasty... the chops were seasoned well and I loved the saffron rice dish. The salad had a homemade dressing of herbs and lime juice. My husband enjoyed his dish and indicated he would try something different on a future visit. We came in early afternoon and was told by our server to make reservations if we intended to come during the dinner hour. I was glad we arrived early as we received attentive service, tasty food and the server answered all our questions regarding the foods on the menu.
