Always an amazing experience when I go here! Authentic Persian food and Amoo is always there working and greeting the people! The food, service and vibe are all top shelf and prices are very reasonable! If you want great Persian food this is your place!

Delicious food. I have been wanting to try this place for a while now and was finally able to go. And I'm happy I did. They were super busy when we arrived so it took about 10 minutes to check on us but were very apologetic. All good. The setting is very casual so not a romantic first date setting, but the food is delicious so if you want to impress via taste buds, then give it a try. Everything looked so good so we all tried different dishes for a wider experience. For starters we had tahdig, which I think is a must-try. I've wanted to try tahdig for awhile now and this hit my spot. For my meal, I had the pesto chicken kabobs, upgraded with shirin sweet polo rice, which was amazing on its own. One of my kids had the kadoo, which was also delicious. My wife had the bademjan, another winner. Also tried were the fesenjan, among other dishes. Again, everything was great.

It was good... service was incredible, interior very welcoming and cozy. But I still have to say for authentic flavors Kabob Baazar in Clarendon still feels more true to me, for grandmas cooking and flavors. She tried a few dishes from kabobs to pomegranate stew (which is notoriously challenging to make), and it all tasted OK. The reality is people adore it here and they have a huge following which I am glad for them as again the place and space its self is lovely ! But not the flavor profile that hits it totally right for us :). For a nicer Persian meal in McClean check out Divan as well, their flavor profile is much more of our choice :)

Great spot! I heard good things about Amoos and had to give it a try. There was an older gentleman who I presume is the owner who greeted me at the front and was very kind. The food was also great- the chicken was very well seasoned and tender. I also had enough leftovers for dinner.

Deliciousness - 4/5 Happiness 5/5 This was a really fun time at a truly unique middle eastern restaurant. You want quantity? The size of these entrees can sate the growliest tummy. You want quality? Flavors and unique offerings galore. Your wallet's in a pinch? No problem, as there are plenty of affordable options (and you'll definitely have leftovers). What I particularly enjoyed were some of the options that you don't see too often. The Tahdig is a must-have appetizer if you're eating with a group - a mini meal in itself, you get truly flavorful crispy rice topped with wonderfully cooked meat to share. I also really loved the option to get a cornish game hen as the gamy taste of the meat paired well with the saffron lime spice blend they grilled it in. We got the house wine, which was very flavorful. And my wife particularly enjoyed saffron ice cream (a dessert I've not come across - loaded with pistachios as well). The lamb is juicy and fall of the bone (if you're wise enough to get it bone-in), and everything had a great char to it. The service was also really great. We were warmly greeted, the waiter struck a great balance of engaging and letting us have our conversation, and everyone we met was friendly. I can't praise them enough for the fun service and meal.

While in VA for a quick visit we decided to look for food we don't have back home. Looking for something different we found Amoo's and this Persian paradise was amazing. It's located in a small strip mall but do not let that fool you. The service we received from the moment we arrived by our server Ana and the rest of the staff was wonderful. Now on to the food. Where do I start we tried 4 different plates and mixed and matched. We tried for starters the hummus and Laboo - served with warm pita. Entrees we tried were the traditional Koobideh - the saffron chicken - Chimichurri Chicken - and a lamb dish (can't remember the name). This came with saffron rice and Fasl Seasonal Garden Salad. The meats were all so flavorful and tender. Everything was hot and fresh. For dessert we had to try both the saffron ice cream and the baklava! We loved it so much the sad part is when we crave this we will be too far to order Please give them a try. You will not be disappointed. When we return to VA we will definitely visit again.

4/8/24 On our way from the Great Falls VA to DC, google Maps suggested this along the way, and we decided to stop in for something different. Ana and Estelle were friendly and helpful. We haven't been to many Persian restaurants, so it took time to understand the menu Saffron Iced Tea and Saffron Hot Tea Both were delicious, so refreshing. Kashk Bademjan Dip - Yogurt Eggplant Dip This was so good, spreading it on the bread. Mahicheh with Tahdig - Lamb Shank with bottom of the pot rice aka Concon aka Pegao Of course, hubby had to get the rice. His Dominican blood would not stand for him to pass this up, LOL. And he loved it. Cornish Hen with Baghali Polo They cut the Cornish Hen up for easy eating. I love that! It's so small and hard to eat when whole. Lima Bean rice was delicious. I'm so sad they are so far away. I would love to try everything on the menu!

Small, family owned business serving classic Iranian/Persian dishes. The owners were very kind and welcoming- my friend and I came when it was empty so the service was fast. Overall a homey feeling on the inside. I got the Barg Soltani which includes a Barg Kabob and Koobideh Kabob. I was disappointed by the Barg- I hadn't had Barg in a while and recall it being flavorful, juicy, and tender. But, this was hard to cut, chewy, and not flavorful or juicy. However, their koobideh was nicely seasoned, easy to cut, and juicy. Although not a normal part of Persian cuisine, I enjoyed the green sauce/chutney provided as it actually had some heat to add to the bland rice and Barg kabob. The rice was salty and I wish butter came with it like at other Persian restaurants. My friend ordered the vegan tofu fesenjoon. I only tried the sauce and it was sweet, but good. They seemed to enjoy it. Overall, not bad food. But, I had higher expectations for the Barg which was a big disappointment for me. I expected more flavor from this place. Their koobideh is good, but I've had better kabobs overall at other places. I'm not sure if I'd come back again, but it's decent.

Wonderful traditional Persian food. Some of the best tasting kabobs I have ever had. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I think this has become our new kabobs place.

All three of the dips were a generous portion and the bread accompanying them is delicious. The bread was refilled 3 times during the meal. Very, very good. Each of the dips was different and very tasty. The Hummus was smooth and flavorful and the Spinach (served warm) had a garlic flavor. I took a lot of the dips home - the bread was so delicious, I filled up quickly. My friend thought the salad (Salad Alamut) was ok, but the soup (tomato based) was very good. We each had a decaf cappuccino, which were also very good. The service was outstanding. The bread basket was refilled several times and our water glasses were tended to very well. The place was not crowded and we had a leisurely lunch that lasted almost 3 hours. There was no impatience to present us with the bill, and, after we paid, we were still offered refills on water as we lingered for a few more minutes. Excellent service! We felt very welcomed here. We were having dinner with some friends and this was centrally located - plus one of our friends is Persian and she insisted - so we were offered a lovely glimpse into this beautiful cuisine. As any of you who have read my reviews know, I am Greek and Greek food is among my favorites. Well, Persian food is "kinda sorta" like Greek food only slightly different to keep it interesting. I was pleasantly surprised. We started out the meal with a sampling of appetizers. Zucchini fritters, hummus, fresh tomato salad, octopus, beet salad. All wonderful and all perfectly prepared and beautifully presented! For our main course, we had some lamb, a ground beef kabob and chicken kabobs. All wonderful. The lamb was - in my opinion - perfectly cooked; the meat was "fall off the bones" tender, just the way I like it and just the way that Greek cuisine would cook it. I did not need a knife to cut it. WOW!!! There was also a beef stew so luxuriously seasoned that it transported me to the Middle East! Cinnamon, probably star anise, cloves definitely! Really different and lovely. As good as all the food was, the rice might be the star of the show for me. They have a way of preparing rice so that it has a crust to it. The outer layer is crispy, crunchy (in a good way) and I loved that. The inside rice is tender and chewy. Divine Divan!!! The ambiance of the dining room is okay. Nothing special. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing to add an additional star to this review. Service was professional and fast. Will I return to Divan? Oh yes! Do I recommend it? Oh yes but not on a night when I want a table there!!!

There are several reasons why I would choose this restaurant again for my wedding: 1. Food quality was amazing. Both our Iranian and American guests raved about the food, saying it was the best food they have had at a wedding. The meat was tender and juicy and the rice was delicious without being oily, which is very hard to do. Our guests went for seconds and thirds and majority of the food was finished even though we ordered extra! Even my mom, who is a very harsh judge of Persian food, loved it. 2. Service was excellent. Wedding planning is a really stressful process, so choosing a caterer is really important. Coordination with Mr. Sanaei was very smooth. He gave us his personal phone number and texted us everything we needed within hours (including COI and business license). The business is very organized. The delivery was on-time, and all the food arrived well-packed. 3. Most importantly, the staff at the actual restaurant is just really kind. I initially just went for a meal and after being treated with such kindness, I decided to use them for catering. Honestly, I get a feeling that the staff are more like my cousins. The ability to run an efficient and organized business, while still giving us a homy/comforting feeling is what makes this Maman Joon so special! 4. Price is great! I got a quote from several Persian restaurants in the DMV area (and even other Maman Joon branches) and this was lower for the exact same meals. Overall, I highly recommend Maman Joon at McLean as both a restaurant and catering!

The yogurt they offer on the side is a Persian staple, but what really shined was the fresh bread whose odor wafted through my vehicle as I drove my takeout elsewhere. A delightfully thin and browned creation, it was 100% worth adding despite the fact that they already gave me a massive pile of rice (with a bit of saffron rice on top of the plain white rice). Of their other locations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, some of them offer these stews with tofu mixed in and some do not, though falafel and a few other options remain available.
