Ordered the koobideh kabob for delivery. I love Persian kabobs because once they're done well they're almost never dry! This was no different very juicy kabob with adequate rice and roasted tomato! The bread was a nice touch. It was packed well! The only thing I didn't love was they added some extra seasoning in the middle of the kabob and I would've preferred it plain, but that's just down to personal taste. It was really good and reheated well as well. Would definitely dine in!

Always an amazing experience when I go here! Authentic Persian food and Amoo is always there working and greeting the people! The food, service and vibe are all top shelf and prices are very reasonable! If you want great Persian food this is your place!

Delicious food. I have been wanting to try this place for a while now and was finally able to go. And I'm happy I did. They were super busy when we arrived so it took about 10 minutes to check on us but were very apologetic. All good. The setting is very casual so not a romantic first date setting, but the food is delicious so if you want to impress via taste buds, then give it a try. Everything looked so good so we all tried different dishes for a wider experience. For starters we had tahdig, which I think is a must-try. I've wanted to try tahdig for awhile now and this hit my spot. For my meal, I had the pesto chicken kabobs, upgraded with shirin sweet polo rice, which was amazing on its own. One of my kids had the kadoo, which was also delicious. My wife had the bademjan, another winner. Also tried were the fesenjan, among other dishes. Again, everything was great.

It was good... service was incredible, interior very welcoming and cozy. But I still have to say for authentic flavors Kabob Baazar in Clarendon still feels more true to me, for grandmas cooking and flavors. She tried a few dishes from kabobs to pomegranate stew (which is notoriously challenging to make), and it all tasted OK. The reality is people adore it here and they have a huge following which I am glad for them as again the place and space its self is lovely ! But not the flavor profile that hits it totally right for us :). For a nicer Persian meal in McClean check out Divan as well, their flavor profile is much more of our choice :)

Great spot! I heard good things about Amoos and had to give it a try. There was an older gentleman who I presume is the owner who greeted me at the front and was very kind. The food was also great- the chicken was very well seasoned and tender. I also had enough leftovers for dinner.

Deliciousness - 4/5 Happiness 5/5 This was a really fun time at a truly unique middle eastern restaurant. You want quantity? The size of these entrees can sate the growliest tummy. You want quality? Flavors and unique offerings galore. Your wallet's in a pinch? No problem, as there are plenty of affordable options (and you'll definitely have leftovers). What I particularly enjoyed were some of the options that you don't see too often. The Tahdig is a must-have appetizer if you're eating with a group - a mini meal in itself, you get truly flavorful crispy rice topped with wonderfully cooked meat to share. I also really loved the option to get a cornish game hen as the gamy taste of the meat paired well with the saffron lime spice blend they grilled it in. We got the house wine, which was very flavorful. And my wife particularly enjoyed saffron ice cream (a dessert I've not come across - loaded with pistachios as well). The lamb is juicy and fall of the bone (if you're wise enough to get it bone-in), and everything had a great char to it. The service was also really great. We were warmly greeted, the waiter struck a great balance of engaging and letting us have our conversation, and everyone we met was friendly. I can't praise them enough for the fun service and meal.

While in VA for a quick visit we decided to look for food we don't have back home. Looking for something different we found Amoo's and this Persian paradise was amazing. It's located in a small strip mall but do not let that fool you. The service we received from the moment we arrived by our server Ana and the rest of the staff was wonderful. Now on to the food. Where do I start we tried 4 different plates and mixed and matched. We tried for starters the hummus and Laboo - served with warm pita. Entrees we tried were the traditional Koobideh - the saffron chicken - Chimichurri Chicken - and a lamb dish (can't remember the name). This came with saffron rice and Fasl Seasonal Garden Salad. The meats were all so flavorful and tender. Everything was hot and fresh. For dessert we had to try both the saffron ice cream and the baklava! We loved it so much the sad part is when we crave this we will be too far to order Please give them a try. You will not be disappointed. When we return to VA we will definitely visit again.

4/8/24 On our way from the Great Falls VA to DC, google Maps suggested this along the way, and we decided to stop in for something different. Ana and Estelle were friendly and helpful. We haven't been to many Persian restaurants, so it took time to understand the menu Saffron Iced Tea and Saffron Hot Tea Both were delicious, so refreshing. Kashk Bademjan Dip - Yogurt Eggplant Dip This was so good, spreading it on the bread. Mahicheh with Tahdig - Lamb Shank with bottom of the pot rice aka Concon aka Pegao Of course, hubby had to get the rice. His Dominican blood would not stand for him to pass this up, LOL. And he loved it. Cornish Hen with Baghali Polo They cut the Cornish Hen up for easy eating. I love that! It's so small and hard to eat when whole. Lima Bean rice was delicious. I'm so sad they are so far away. I would love to try everything on the menu!

Small, family owned business serving classic Iranian/Persian dishes. The owners were very kind and welcoming- my friend and I came when it was empty so the service was fast. Overall a homey feeling on the inside. I got the Barg Soltani which includes a Barg Kabob and Koobideh Kabob. I was disappointed by the Barg- I hadn't had Barg in a while and recall it being flavorful, juicy, and tender. But, this was hard to cut, chewy, and not flavorful or juicy. However, their koobideh was nicely seasoned, easy to cut, and juicy. Although not a normal part of Persian cuisine, I enjoyed the green sauce/chutney provided as it actually had some heat to add to the bland rice and Barg kabob. The rice was salty and I wish butter came with it like at other Persian restaurants. My friend ordered the vegan tofu fesenjoon. I only tried the sauce and it was sweet, but good. They seemed to enjoy it. Overall, not bad food. But, I had higher expectations for the Barg which was a big disappointment for me. I expected more flavor from this place. Their koobideh is good, but I've had better kabobs overall at other places. I'm not sure if I'd come back again, but it's decent.

Wonderful traditional Persian food. Some of the best tasting kabobs I have ever had. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I think this has become our new kabobs place.

The only downside of the experience is at the end when the waiter was boxing up all the food for us. Very sweet that they do this but when boxing up my partners food, they only boxed up the rice and they got rid of the lamb that he was looking forward to eating more of later. So that was kind of a disappointment for us. I think if we go again, we would request to box our food ourselves since I'm not sure why they decided to get rid of all of his lamb.

First, I didn't realize it was a sit down and order restaurant, I was used to short order. I was quickly seared and within a couple minutes one server had brought me water as well as fresh tandoori bread and a delicious spicy green sauce to go with it. A second server appeared quickly to take my order. I explained I was used to short order, and all I wanted was their version of chicken and steak (not ground beef.) The waiter explained how he'd do the combo on the menu and off he went. Having looked at the menu, I feared this might be an expensive option, and it was. But a few minutes later I was presented with a platter of delicious looking steak, chicken, rice, onions, tomato, and event a char-roasted jalapeño. It was enough food for my wife and I have had for dinner between us, so the price was well justified. Every thing was delicious. At the end of the meal, I asked if I could order another tandoori bread, and get a small to-go container of the green spicy spread to bring home for wife to try. They brought me both a generous helping of bread and the sauce, and charged me for neither. This service, combined with a delicious meal that, while expensive, will end up being three meals, means this is definitely a spot I plan to go back to as well as recommend.

Dear Joon Management,…read more My family and I have been regular customers at your restaurant since March because we truly enjoy your excellent Persian food. I have also brought many coworkers and friends to introduce them to your restaurant. Unfortunately, during every visit over the past several months, the rice has been excessively salty. It tastes as though salt was added to the rice rather than the rice being properly seasoned. In May, I brought eight guests, and nearly everyone left their rice untouched. In early July, I returned with four people, and once again no one ate the rice. We mentioned the issue to our waiter, who was very polite and said he would inform the manager and the cook. On the third Wednesday of July, I came with two friends, and once again none of us ate the rice. I spoke with the manager, who was very kind and assured me she would discuss the issue with the cook. Unfortunately, despite reporting the problem more than once, nothing has changed. If this had happened only once, I would not be writing this email. However, after several disappointing visits, I expected that our meals would have been replaced or that we would not have been charged for food that was left uneaten because of the overly salted rice. I respectfully request that you consider providing a refund or another appropriate resolution for our most recent visit. More importantly, I hope this issue is corrected so future customers can fully enjoy your excellent food. If our feedback is important to you, I would appreciate hearing from you. I would also like to share your response with the friends and coworkers I have encouraged to visit your restaurant. My name is David A., and my email address is Shirpelang@gmail.com. The ambiance and service were both good, and all the dishes were delicious. In particular, the Kashk Bademjan was creamy, smoky, and flavorful. However, the protein-to-rice ratio for all the main dishes was extremely low, especially for the price point. Notably, the salmon I ordered to go had just two medium chunks of salmon with a lot of rice for $35. To KooKoo's credit, when I mentioned this, they apologized and made it up to me. Additionally, there was a minimal amount of lamb once we took it off the bone and there was a lot of plain rice left over. Nonetheless, the food quality and taste itself is great. February 2025: I recently went here with two friends for a weeknight dinner and loved my experience. While the food came out on the slow side, the ambiance was good, the food was worth the wait, and KooKoo's prices are fair for the dishes and portions. KooKoo started by giving us complementary bread and seasoned vegetables, both of which were delicious. We shared the Tahdig, which was fantastic. The rice had perfect crispiness and the stew was a great hearty complement. I got the Khoresh Fesenjoon for my main and enjoyed it. While I wish there had been more meat in my stew to even out the stew-to-rice ratio, it was flavorful, with perfectly cooked chicken and rice, the right amount of pomegranate molasses, and good crunch with the walnuts. I look forward to going back to KooKoo!

A recent visit to DC with some dear friends provided the perfect opportunity to check out their branch here and assess how it compares to the original. Happily, I found the food here essentially equivalent to what I sampled at the Atlanta locations, that is, excellent. We started with the sabzi and bread service, which pairs Rumi's excellent and freshly baked Persian style naan with fresh herbs and feta cheese, which makes for a light and refreshing start to the meal. Our appetizers comprised the lamb hummus, the fatoush salad, kashk-bademjan eggplant dip, and the duo of yogurts. All were great, with the classic, creamy eggplant and the tangy, cooling yogurt duo standing out for me personally. We ordered three entrees, including the lamb kebab, beef soltani combination, and the duck fesenjan stew. All the kebabs possessed a juicy texture, great seasoning, and had an excellent cook. The duck had a tangy sweet flavor profile that may not be for everyone but was nonetheless satisfying with rice. Speaking of the rices, the fluffy grains complimented all of our dishes well and we particularly enjoyed the dill-fava bean as well as the lentil-raisin renditions. Do note that portions here are generous, and splitting entrees is suggested especially if you opt for a decent number of appetizers as we did. Special mention should be made of the cocktails at Rumi's. While I personally did not have a mixed drink, my friends all raved about the flavor profiles of their libations and found them refreshing and balanced relative to others we had in the city. Service here meets the high standard I experienced at the Atlanta locations, and our waitress was helpful and attentive. The space itself is bright and strikes a great balance between rustic Persian accents and more modern, swanky touches. Overall, Rumi's offers a well rounded Persian dining experience with great food, drinks, service, and ambiance which is hard to beat. It's well worth a visit for any fan of Middle Eastern flavors, and my wife and I are already planning our next meal here.

The entree was a bit of a cafeteria style thing, but it fit the bill; the menu says it offers not only tofu but some red kidney beans in a stew of greens with lime flavor, and while I can't think of any similar combination I've had in all my travels, it works. The yogurt they offer on the side is a Persian staple, but what really shined was the fresh bread whose odor wafted through my vehicle as I drove my takeout elsewhere. A delightfully thin and browned creation, it was 100% worth adding despite the fact that they already gave me a massive pile of rice (with a bit of saffron rice on top of the plain white rice). This isn't high-end cuisine, but they delivered distinctive flavors in a timely and convenient fashion, and with a good range of vegetarian choices.
