It's been a few weeks now since my visit but I can still remember and taste the fresh ingredients. It's a small shop in del ray but with plenty of seating inside and outside. The staff and extremely friendly. They were so welcoming and really patient with us as we had lot of questions. Even gave us a sample of their lemonade which was refreshing and so delicious had as craving more! Complimented the food so well. We all were so full by the end of our meal but wish we didn't so we could have more. You can tell everything is made in house with so many veggie toppings which I love!! You can get as much toppings as you want, either into a wrap, bowl, or salad. 10/10 recommend!! We also tried the cookies. She said to give them 6 or 8 minutes (can't remember) and they will be ready. Cookies are fresh fresh and always warmed up per order. They were perfect. If you go to their website they have a rewards program check it out first!!
This Mediterranean spot is a little out of the way in Del ray, but worth the visit. You get a generous chipotle-style bowl of delicious Mediterranean food. I like the chicken better than the gyro and then you get unlimited toppings, but my favorites were the cucumber, tomato salad and all of the pickles. They have a bunch of tables inside and a nice small patio in the back and tables out front so you have plenty of options to sit and enjoy your meal. Service was pretty quick and the french fries I got were made to order, hot and fresh!
We had spent the day in DC and wanted something healthy to eat while we are traveling. La'Balk was the answer. The staff was wonderful so nice and helpful. Answering all or our questions and offering us samples of their tea and mint lemonade, It was similar to Cava but with more authentic Mediterranean choices for toppings. I ordered the chicken in a salad bowl with just about all their toppings. My husband ordered the lamb (gyro meat) bowl with the basmati rice. They did not skimp on the helpings (neither one of us could finish our servings). We both really enjoyed our meals. We both also got the mint lemonade which was very refreshing. Their was plenty of seating inside and out (in front and back). It was clean including the bathrooms.

They have indoor and outdoor seatings. The menu offers outside the bowl they have desserts and also drinks. I ordered gyro bowl with Cucumber Lemonade and it's the best partner! Gyro was moist and all the added stuff tastes fresh. Of course will go back again to try other food in the menu. The only thing you need to consider the parking. This place is so good that it could get packed especially weekends and dinner time. It is somehow close to the King Street Station but it's still quite a walk.

So, I've been avoiding this place because it's tagged under shwarma, and I'm thinking it's going to be like Halal Guys or like the Middle Eastern version of Chipotle. It's not. It's quick, but the food is really high quality. Everything is made with care, and the staff are warm and helpful. The portions are hearty and the flavors are excellent. I got the lamb beef gyro pita shrak wrap and a cake with candied orange slices and pistachios. Both were really excellent. I was sad that Stomping Ground went the way of the dodo, but this is a fantastic replacement. If you've been hesitating to try it, don't! You won't regret it.

The food was so yummy, huge portion and were tasted so fresh. The vanilla latte was delicious, too. The girl behind the counter was super sweet and gave great recs for pastries. The pistachio one was unreal.
Fresh, well flavored, amazing Middle Eastern food in the heart of Del Ray! This place is definitely one of the favorite neighborhood food spots- I can tell. Quick service, helpful staff, cute interior, and lovely outdoor seating as well! For my first time, I got the popular mint lemonade which is refreshing, delicious, well balanced, and worth the hype! Got a bowl and sampled all the meats, but honestly the falafel was my favorite! The chicken was my favorite meat- it had a good seasoning to it. I'll def be coming back for another bowl. Managed to find street parking but I'm sure parking can be tricky on weekends and peak times. WORTH IT!
I've been to this place twice now and it's pretty good. If you're in the middle for some Mediterranean eats, definitely give this place a try. The food is fresh and the customer service is pleasant as well. The employees are very helpful, so don't be afraid to ask questions or recommendations. On the particular visit, I had the bowl with shawarma chicken and a few other toppings. I will recommend adding their "Garlic Paste" to your bowl or wrap. It adds such great flavor to the food.
We ordered chicken shawarma wrap and bowl. Both were amazing. I especially loved the taste of rice. Chicken was well cooked and marinated. You can choose as many toppings as you like and they are all delicious. I also tried the famous mint lemonade and it is refreshing as its fame. Very tasty. Servers were kind and friendly. I didn't feel like I'm being ignored. Inside is nice ambiance. There are also sitting options on outside which is pretty nice in a good weather.

So many options to choose from for your meal, and you're sure to leave full and satisfied. We've been to La'Baik multiple times and are sure to be back again soon!
I always feel compelled to try a place with 5 starts immediately! I'm so glad I did and I can attest for myself they absolutely deserve every star. It was my first time and the staff were absolutely amazing. They answered all my questions and let me sample the mint lemonade, which was out of this world good! The food was fresh and delicious and I cannot wait to go back.

I just picked up a to-go order from La Baik on my way to the airport, and I have to give them a shoutout. My Lyft driver was kind enough to make a quick detour, and Hamdi took incredible care of me. He put together the freshest-looking bowl (I haven't even dug in yet, but just look at it ). The customer service? Top tier. Now... I was fully planning to pass on the mint lemonade, but Hamdi insisted. And when I tell you it's a MUST... I had no idea I was even thirsty until that first sip. It is ridiculously refreshing. If you're anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and go check them out. You won't regret it. read more

What a delightful little place. We came for lunch and the mint lemonade was so fresh and delicious. 10/10 recommendation! The chicken was a little dry, but the toppings were are excellent, particularly the sumac onions. The gyro meat was the better option this time so my brother won and I lost. read more
We went a bit out of our way for this one but I'm glad we did. I'm always a bit fan of middle eastern food and this was no exception. Fluffy and chewy wrap with some crunch falafel and an array of vegetables. It was just what we needed. The atmosphere is pretty top notch too. Hanging lights on the inside that gave it a nice warmth and plenty of nice seating all around. The staff was pretty friendly and it eas decently fast as well. read more

I wanted to love this place but I just don't. I ordered via UE and the delivery was perfect but the food was not. I ordered half falafel/lamb beef gyro pita shark wrap, 2x pita and hummus with pita chips. I requested feta, tomato, Romain lettuce and cucumber and called to request tzatziki on the side. The man who answered the phone was wonderful and very accommodating, so no issues there. I was actually looking forward to an in-person dine in experience after speaking with him. I digress. My wrap arrived nicely warm, but the toppings were so light, they were non-existing. The I loved how thin the bread wrapper was but the falafel was so garlicky, I ended up throwing the entire sandwich in the trash. The tzatziki tasted like raw garlic. I attempted to tame it with more Greek yogurt, fresh lemon juice and salt, but nope. It to went the way of the wrap. I was able to salvage the hummus with additional salt, fresh lemon juice and tahini. Sigh The chips were delicious and the pita was good as well. Both will go great with my homemade shakshuka. read more

Just want to give a shout out to the staff for being so welcoming, I kept seeing the very high reviews on Google and Yelp and this place is worth the hype. It's like an Arab chipotle, the gyro wrap was so good and gyro meat melts in your mouth and some of the better gyro I've had in the area. My wife got the chicken shawarma which was also tasty but i liked the gyro better. The fries with zaatar were great too read more

I love this place! Everything I've eaten here has been fresh and delicious. They make my favorite falafel in the area--it's always hot and crispy, and the veggies and salads are so fresh. My first visit took place on a busy day, and even so, they were very attuned to and careful about my allergies and took the time to talk me through the menu. I've been back several times since and look forward to my next visit. I really enjoyed sitting outside on their delightful patio, although inside is super cute too. read more
One of the most delicious and flavorful wraps I have had in a long time, and I love the build your own style of construction! It feels great to walk into a place, order a base item, and then be told you can fill it with anything you want that you can see, included in the price. No wonder we are starting to see more of these Mediterranean bowl and wrap fast casual places start to emerge. At my friends encouragement, I went for their gyro wrap, and man... I don't think I have ever seen so much gyro meat go into a single thing before. I also love the style of the wrap, like a thin dough, it isn't over filling you or distracting from the taste of the contents. There were so many excellent toppings to choose from, I am not sure I can re-count them all, but the things that stood out most when taking a bite were the sumac onions, mediterranean pickles, and the spicy cilantro and garlic sauces. We also got some falafel, excellent, very tender inside... maybe a little too heavy on greenery but that is just me being picky, they were very flavorful. There was also baba ghanoush, nice roasted eggplant flavor, not quite as thick as what I am used to, but still good nonethless. It came with the largest amount of pita chips I think I've ever been given. We snacked on that for a couple days. Overall, great place. Absolutely would come back. read more

Great Service, local, and amazing food! La Baik was a place I've been meaning to try the last few months so when I found myself in Old Towne Alexandria returning from a bike trip I knew I had to make the detour to the Del Ray area to try La Baik. La Baik is situated in a popular street in the del Ray area. There's no private parking lot, but there is a city lot nearby and ample street parking. Upon entering I first noticed the clean, modern simple design. There are several tables to the back of the restaurant. This is the local version of fast casual. You order at the counter where you progress as someone makes your choice of food. We ordered the Falafel Wrap and 2 orders of the Zatar Fries. The wrap was larger than what I expected and had a more diverse amount of toppings and sauces to choose from. The wrap wasn't dry or difficult to chew. The pita bread they used and ample amount of toppings made this the 1st falafel wrap that wasn't breaking apart or too dry to eat. As we checked out we met Nora! She's part of the family that owns La Baik. She shared with us the story of La Baik and how everything was made from her aunt's recipes. She even gave us some middle eastern desserts to try. She's an awesome representation of the restaurant. We ate the food so fast that we forgot to take pics.....next time! read more

Came by for a quick meal. Located on a busy street, there are two outdoor patios and seating inside available. You order and find a table. Inside the area is set up nicely with all the lights. We ordered the shahuska and egg sandwich. The shahuka was good, it was served with potatoes and naan bread. The latte was good. Service was great, food arrived in a timely manner. read more

My wife picked this spot, and I was happy to see it had great reviews. The place was well lit with good music and plenty of seating, creating a nice atmosphere. I went with the shawarma wrap, and they took the time to grill it to perfection. My wife customized a chicken bowl, and we both loved our meals. The flavors were fresh, and the quality was excellent. Definitely a great choice for a casual and delicious meal. read more

The atmosphere, seating, bathrooms, 100% halal food, and service were all amazing. Wrap and bowl portions are generous, 1 order of bowl or wrap will feed 2. There are a lot of good toppings and they're generous with them. The mint tea lemonade is delicious. Highly recommend this spot, i'll comeback for sure. I had the Lamb and Beef shawarma with zaatar fries. The fries alone were worth coming back for. Shout out to Hamdi, he was very welcoming and made the experience even better. They have bench seating, so come here with friends! read more
