Everything was wonderful! The hummus was excellent. The doner kebab and octopus were delicious and the walnut baklava was superb. Wait staff were gracious and I forgot to mention the Turkish wine. Excellent place in Falls Church!

Run don't walk!! This breakfast special is spectacular! Everything is HOUSE MADE. So Turkish pastry requires the same fastidiousness as French pastry does. They're making it in house !! A cornucopia of dips and fresh veggies, traditional omelette and potatoes, and fresh halloumi cheese! Gorgeous upscale interior the owner designed himself, high ceilings, fresh flowers, giant windows, white tables clothes ! Falls church is lucky the owner has opened this place and already making everyone feel like family ! Add to your list !

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel compelled to warn others. I truly don't understand why someone would go through the trouble and expense of opening a restaurant if they aren't committed to making good food. So many corners were cut here that it was almost insulting--and there's no way the owners genuinely believe what they're serving is good. Don't be fooled by the glowing five-star reviews. My husband and I chose this spot based on them, only to walk into a mostly empty restaurant--just one large group was seated when we arrived. A server greeted us and said our waitress would be right with us, only to turn around and become our waitress herself. It was disorganized from the start. We ordered the cold mezze sampler, and everything on the plate tasted store-bought, not house-made. It was all refrigerator-cold--so cold, in fact, that we could barely scoop anything up with the bread, which itself was also cold and tasted like it came out of a plastic bag. Not fresh, not warm, not good. For our mains, I ordered the branzino, and my husband got the salmon. The fish itself was okay--not amazing, but at least served warm. However, the dishes were completely overwhelmed with sauces. The sides were disappointing: cold potatoes, cold spinach, and a "salad" that was just unchopped spring mix tossed with cherry tomatoes and a balsamic drizzle. That same balsamic was inexplicably poured over the main dishes too, clashing with everything on the plate. The worst offender was the sauce on the salmon--a thick, dark paste made of butter and sumac that totally overpowered the fish. It was incredibly heavy-handed and hard to eat. Honestly, the nicest thing I can say about the place is that the furniture looked decent. The service, the food, the overall experience--mediocre at best. I walked away frustrated that we spent $100 here.

Cafe Zevian is a beautiful restaurant. The interior is beautifully crafted. Unfortunately the service and food leaves much to be desired. The staff were nice upon arrival we had a reservation but somehow it took us maybe 30 minutes to get asked what we wanted. 3 tables were seated and served way before we were asked if we wanted to order, and when we did order the item was not good. The sampler was basically $30 for 5 pieces of old bread (was not fresh or hot) and the dips. These dips by no means were bad in taste, but they weren't anything special they tasted like you could go to a grocery store and get the hummus and everything else. We were given two grape leafs when in other pictures of other reviews they were given four and a ton of bread. We saw all of the other tables get mountains of bread and service while we didn't. Even when we asked for the check we didn't get it until maybe 10 minutes after? The server also asked us if we did not like the food - we didn't want to be rude and say what we thought so we just said we were just grabbing small bites. Truthfully we looked up another restaurant and left to go there instead! If you want good Mediterranean food maybe go somewhere else.

Cyndy's Bottom Line: Delicious Mediterranean food in Falls Church *Walk ins welcomed for lunch *Reservations on TOCK *Hours: Mon-Fri : 7.30 AM- 10.00PM Sat-Sun (Brunch) : 10.00 AM - 9.30 PM *Serving Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner *Credit cards accepted *A gratuity of 22% will be charged for a party of (6) or more. *Street parking and garage *Available for private functions I went to the newly opened Cafe Zevian for lunch craving a doner kebab like the one that I had in Berlin. The menu is good for not only lunch but also breakfast and dinner. The restaurant is spacious, great decor and ambiance. Nicely appointed seating with large windows. This is what we ate: +Complimentary bread and spicy tomato dip. Yummy +Doner sandwich -Turkish dish of veal and lamb marinated for about 12 hrs, cooked on a vertical rotisserie with tomatoes and fresh green peppers. *The doner kebab is so tasty delicious. The veal and lamb so robust in flavor, tender and perfectly assembled in the lightly grilled thin flatbread. Delish!! I can't wait to eat another one! +Sarma -Grape Leaves stuffed with rice, served with fresh lettuce, pomegranate and lemon. *Beautifully plated and well executed. The rice in the grape leaves so flavorful, the lettuce perfectly chopped and dressed. The pomegranate adds a burst of sweetness, followed by a subtle tartness. Fresh and delicious! +Turkish tea -a strong, full-bodied black tea served piping hot in small tulip-shaped glasses, accompanied by sugar and a yummy cookie. *Love the flavor of Turkish tea. *Friendly & attentive service. *Highly recommend!

12/25/25 Update: I see online their updated menu lists many more ingredients and food labels. Great update! Very helpful. Original review: This newly opened spot is perfect for a date night, friends gathering, or New Years Eve dinner! It's got Mediterranean food - Turkish, Greek, and Lebanese flavors! The hummus was great (though next time I will have them remove the red pepper flakes they sprinkle on top) and the bread that came with it was fantastic - a spongy, thicker than pita almost sourdough texture. The grilled chicken was delicious, seasoned well, tender and hot! The potatoes that came with it were a bit unseasoned except the red pepper flakes that were on there (too spicy for my mild palate). The cauliflower dish and mucver (veggie pancake, but it comes with a yogurt sauce below - dairy unlabeled: beware.) were both good and flavorful. The za'atar fries were fresh and hot, a bit salty but good to share. We were in a rush to eat and they were able to accommodate our speed and brought everything out as fast as they could. The staff was friendly and fast. You could tell they appreciated sharing their cuisine with us! Overall great food, experience, and ambiance. Just ask about ingredients on a dish you're interested in because the menu isn't listing dairy or red pepper flakes (or vegan/ eggs/ gluten, etc either).

Delightful calm atmosphere and well rounded menu with a quality I would visit for lunch any day of the week. Service was quick and concise. No complaints and felt as if the restaurant was well kept and clean.

Enjoyed the dinner with my husband at the new Cafe Zevian. Great tasting dishes, polite and friendly staff, and a bright, open concept environment, make this place elegant and cozy at the same time. We will be back soon!

Lamb chops. So juicy and delicious. Even the rice tastes great!

I got there after 6pm. It was packed. It was my first there and had no idea what I was getting into. The menus doesnt explain much nor were prices mentioned. Its like $39.99 They also tacked on a service fee. Which is deceiving since its not mentioned upfront in the menu. You find out when you get your bill. The service was 5 stars. The young man very attentive and friendly. Ushered our dirty tables and brought us our drinks. I had minty lemonade which I recommend if your gonna eat a lot. Here's my gripe. Its very important to label food. None of the food trays or stations were labeled. I have several food allergies and I had no idea what was what. I had to ask what was this or that. One tray had rice and I saw something that had deep fried crispy something. I thought it was chicken... it was fish :( The hummus was good though. The baklava meh. The pita bread was good. Some rice tray had kabob type of meat but it was lukewarm. For the price I paid, its not worth it. Please label your trays. Im give this place another try with my husband after Ramadan. , I saw on the dessert menu they have Knafeh.. a delicious middle eastern dessert that I love. Can't wait to try that.

We arrived at the tail end of their Iftar buffet and the restaurant was pretty full, but the manager (owner perhaps?) was so gracious and accommodating. Nobody else was sitting outside but he had the server set up a table for us within a few minutes. We ordered a sort of deep fried cheese stick wrapped in phyllo dough (can't remember the name!) which comes with a yogurt and dill dipping sauce - excellent! We also had the goshnan, a traditional meat pie with lamb and beef. The pastry was flaky and buttery and the mixture of meat and spices were very delicious. My son and I shared a chicken pide - a flatbread with cheese and chicken - also spiced to perfection. My husband ordered the rock pot soup with noodles and beef (you can also order it with seafood). He said it was very good. Our server was a sweetheart - patient with our questions and attentive even though he had to run in and out of the restaurant. The outside seating is nice because it's set back a bit from the street so you don't have cars roaring by while you eat. The Dolan Chai is not to be missed! It has dates and rose and lots of other wonderful elements. I've never had tea like this before. They also serve it iced which I imagine would be delightful.
