Had a really fun time at this past paint nite at Vin de Syrah on 12/7. It was my first paint nite event and I bought the Living Social deal which is a good deal for the event. I don't think I would go and pay full price of $45/ticket. I am not an artist by any means and just like to do events like this for fun. She provided clear step-by-step directions, walked around to make sure we were doing ok and had the best play list. The music made a huge difference! This is an update to my previous review. I am giving Paint Nite 2 stars since the management has offered to reimburse me for my class. It's not so much about the money is it is about the experience. Everyone was complaining about the paint brushes, because they sucked they were all frayed and old. The instructor didn't instruct us on how to paint, his advice was if you make a mistake then keep making mistakes throughout the painting. Whaaaat? The venue was really dark and held in a basement bar. Just an overall bummer night. I have been to many of these paint nights and I will go back, just with a different instructor and at a different venue. read more

My boyfriend & I went to Paint Nite at 2Plank Vineyards & had Lexi as our instructor. She was friendly & very funny, teaching a class of 40 people can't be easy & she did a great job! Very patient & great explanation with her paint techniques & gave lots of encouragement throughout the duration of the nearly 2 hours class. We sipped on tasty wine & listened to a great music playlist while learning to paint a fun beach cove setting. I've done two paintings with Paint Nite. One at 50 Barrels in Vista, I think, and the other at Blush Ice bar downtown. Both were so much fun! Wonderful fun for a date night or girl's night out. Great for beginners but also great for those who want to be a little creative. The instructors will show you the basics of how to create the painting, but you do not have to follow what they show. Instead of a tree with a bird, I did a palm tree. Always look for coupons. $50/per is a bit expensive. But if you find good coupons on Groupon, Living Social, sign up for their email list, etc., you could get 2/$50. Which is much more doable when you are planning on getting food and something to drink. Always a little crowded, but that doesn't bother me. I'm excited to have a painting I made myself and can be proud of :) My only complaint is that it is 21 year and older only. I want to take my younger sister but can't. read more

All I can say is OMG I can paint!!!! LOL I absolutely love love love this paint nite!! I've been to three now with Stephanie Chambers and she is an absolute blast and one incredible teacher!!! I was hesitant at first to go because it's hard for me to get even stick figures right sometimes but she guided me along with every one to create SUCH GREAT master pieces. I'm so proud of them I have them hanging all throughout my house :) The environment was nice, the people were delightful, everyone was so friendly and genuinely having a good time. The class started 45 minutes late at Player's sports bar. When you plan for a 7-9 class you don't expect to get done at 10pm The artist, Mike Morris kept saying he was sorry due to the worst traffic EVER. We all got there on time. Why didn't he? No helpers to put out paint, or water. We got our own water from a dirty bucket. Dirty aprons, table cloths and ratty brushes. Loud crappy music. Now for the NON-service for food or drinks. We had to go to the bar to be served. But we had a lot of time doing nothing while he put the place together. Tried to sell raffles tickets for his OWN previous paintings for some charity I've never heard of. HATED being asked for money when I'm painting. All in all. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. Try Painting and Vino. They at least have helpers and are one TIME!!!!! P.S. Told them all of this in their survey. NEVER heard back. read more

I scheduled 3 of my friends and myself to go to this paint Nite. I have been to many and this was by far the worst ever. The instructor decided that because there were some people not listening to him that he would skip the introduction and go straight into the painting. I really need more help than that. I'm not an artist and really could use the direction. That's one of the reasons I love paint nites like this. There were 4 girls in the back of the class that the instructor paid the most attention to. He kept making condescending remarks about the paintbrush choice. He was not available (mostly helping the 4 girls in the back) When I caught his eye, he just looked at me and said "WHAT" - with an attitude like, what do you want, .. I had to go pull him away from the 4 girls twice to get more paint for my painting. I was embarrased that I had invited people saying what a great experience it was and then it was a horrible experience. The instructor also did a raffle and the tickets were $2 a piece and he said that it went to some youth that he works with in Escondido. Not sure if that was Legit or not. The worst part is that prior to this review I contacted paint nite and told them about the bad experience and asked for at least 3 free classes ( I thought they should have given me 4 but I asked for at least 3) The answer I got back was that they would check with the instructor and that I could have a code for 50% off my next 4 classes. Well, I already get that or better with groupon but why would I go back if they don't stand behind their product. I paid money and had a bad experience. I should get to return without cost to another nite of my choice for myself and the guests that I invited. The Venue also was a nice place but not a good venue for paint nite, it was dark and crowded. There were only a few seats that had good lighting to be able to see what you were painting. Their equipment, mainly the paint brushes were in horrible shape so it was hard to get a good line. I heard some people complain about the brushes and the teacher said ' I'm not giving you a different brush'. I have been to many paint nites from this company and others and I always bring at least 1 other person, sometimes many. I won't be going back to this one, I'll go to Paints Uncorked, or Pinot's Pallet, or PaintnVinyard or Paint and Glow by Davina which is super fabulous with mixed-media like glitter and small figurines, seashells and glass gems, and glow paint. Check them out my Paint Night fellow enthusiasts. You'll get a kind considerate artist/teacher that will help you make a memory that will last a lifetime. Last night was supposed to be my second time doing a PaintNite event, however, when we got to Maloney's in downtown I was informed by the restaurant that it was canceled. How was there no notification that the event was canceled prior to my arriving there? I am confused as to how a company could not at least email us to let my friend and I know that they were canceling it. It's highly annoying and rude, when I am a new mommy and try to go out once a month. I was really looking forward to getting my paint on and was very disappointed that there was nothing put in place to allow me to change my paint night prior to arriving at the restaurant. read more

Not happy that the Maloney's venues were cancelled and no one told us. The communication to the customers about cancelling needs to be done 48 hours ahead of time, but I guess it is all one sided - the communication from the business to its customers is unheard of. Eventually paint nite got back to me after several attempts & I was able to reschedule the class. I wish there was a phone number or some other more efficient means of customer service. Otherwise, the classes are fun & the instructors are great-just a snaffu like this is totally avoidable & should be fixed quickly if the company creates the cancellation. read more

A friend bought the groupon because they offeres 18 and up painting events. We were excited. She was assured there were 18 and older events and in fact there were. But not many and the pictures were much less appealing/juvenile (as if somehow 18 year olds want to pain cartoon owls). But we were game.. We signed up for one, it was cancelled, we signed up for the next, it was cancelled and then a third. It was also cancelled. Each was cancelled for insufficient attendance at the last minute. We cannot cancel without penalty, but they can!? That is how their business operates I guess--buyer beware. Then the groupon was expired. There were no more 18- and-up events! They refused to refund or offer credit or permit us to take another class. I would not book further with this company because of their customer service and business practices. They ruined this gift. This was the 3rd time I have been to a Paint Nite class. A group of friends from work went to Chaplos, downtown, last night and had a great time painting and trying out a new restaurant! Jessica is always a great instructor. I am not artistic at all, but have learned and had fun at each class and my paintings have turned out better than I thought they would. She gives step by step instruction and help as you need it. There are always deals on groupon or livingsocial. She also did a private team building event at my husbands office a few months ago. I have done several PaintNite events in the past with my friends. I always found that they were well organized and fun. However, since the organization became Yaymaker and has gone virtual, the organization of the events and the customer service has declined dramatically. Two of my friends and I signed up for the Harry Potter Drinks class. We were all excited about getting together to do it. I got online to see what ingredients we needed for the event and no ingredient list was posted. I messaged Yaymaker asking what the ingredients were that we needed so we could be prepared for the class. I received no response. Two days before the event, I checked the website again and the ingredients required were listed. Fortunately for us, I did check the website again. So, we all divided up the ingredients and went shopping. The night of the event, we tried logging on at the time our confirmation stated. None of us could get in to the system. All three of us kept getting 'Invalid ID'. The customer service team sent all three of us bad links. I emailed Yaymaker letting them know that we couldn't get log into the class. I figured being a Sunday night I probably wouldn't get a response, but would try just in case. I didn't get any response that night and we missed the class. Two days later, a customer service rep sends me a link to the same class that happened two days prior in response to the email I sent on Sunday night. Why would you send me a link to a class that has already happened? That is completely useless! In addition, there was no follow up apology email for the mistake. They just forwarded an email with the event link to an event that was over. I have emailed the customer service team to request a refund since the mistake occurred on their end. I have not heard back from them as of yet. Virtual events are supposed to be about the customer experience. Yaymaker, you fail miserably in this arena! I won't be wasting any more time and money with this company. read more

I am not into Yelp...I have an account but I have only given out one other review..3 years ago! So it has to be something special in order to comment! I decided that the experiences I have had ...including the most recent one with Paint Nite was so great that I decided to make an exception! I have been to a few different classes and every time it's a blast! Stephanie has a great spirit and you can just tell that she loves what she does. She made the experience more than just a painting session.I can get easily bored...however Stephanie made it a good time. I am not an avid painter. However, even my daughter was impressed by my masterpiece! Of course I took the credit..lol. I definitely have plans to do more paint nites in the future! read more

My friends and I had scheduled a paintnite girls night out. We planned and reserved via the paintnite website one month in advance to attend a Maloney's venue. With all our scheduling conflicts, we managed to agree on one date and arranged for babysitting. We all received our confirmation with the policies and we were ready to go. On the day of the event, we checked the website and the venue disappeared! We tried to email paintnite but we didn't get a response until the next day (which was obviously too late). My friend called Maloney's that night before we headed out and found out that the Maloney's venue was cancelled for the month of June! We were all very disappointed and angry at this point and we still had to pay our babysitter for coming over as we sorted all of it out. What a waste of time and money! It seems very disrespectful to the customers not to have any cancellation notices sent out. So I said that I got an email the following day. Paintnite said thay they sent out an email that the class was cancelled and that the email probably went to our spam box. Pretty ridiculous! First, we had no problems receiving the confirmation email. Second, not one of us in the party of 6 got this cancellation email AND we all checked out spam folder. Take heed future painters - before you head to your next venue make sure there is a venue to go to. Paintnite won't apologize if they cancel a venue on you and won't tell you. There will be no compensation for your wasted money and time. read more

Huge fan of paint nite - Stephanie was our instructor. Painted "poppin poppies". Everything was wonderful except the bartender at Fresco. I understand it gets busy. The opposite side of the bar was taken care of...and on my side, was me and my friend (brown skin, in our 40's) and we already placed an order...then 2 young blond girls come up and order...Guess who got their orders first? YEP! and check it out, the guy KNEW he f'd up because 40 min later, he tried bringing me my wine while I was already painting...Uh. NO thank you. So needless to say...I felt DOUBLE discriminated on...because of my race AND my age....Hey! bartender - my BENJAMINS are just as good as those young little blondies that walked in. You weren't that busy...and to add salt to the wound, when I asked the HOSTESS of the restaurant if there was another bar (there wasn't) she tried to make an excuse for the guy, saying it was really busy...UH...4 women. It wasn't that busy. I'll still go to paint nite...but NEVER again to that venue. PAINT NITE actually gets 5 stars, FRESCO gets 1 star. read more

My husband got us two vouchers for a paint nite class for my birthday. We signed up for a class a couple of weeks ago, scheduled tonight (3/25/16) at Buca di Beppo in Carlsbad. We live in San Diego, but liked the painting, so decided to drive up to that event. We got there at 7:00, and sat down to have dinner. At 7:39 we received an email stating that there was an urgent cancellation due to the venue seating other guests in the room. We were given the code for a voucher on another night. When we asked the venue about it, they said that Mike (the guy teaching the class) got there and 6:15, was upset that he couldn't set up and "stormed out." It seems like something that paint nite should have looked into beforehand. I don't think that we will be signing up for another paint nite. It was super disappointing to over pay for average Italian food and drive 50 minutes each way for a last minute cancellation. Really unprofessional. read more

Maybe it's the location but I had a living social deal and they finally ended up just refunding me my money cause of my experience! A friend invited me to join her for a painting class at the Broken Yolk up in Carmel Mountain. I do not like to paint because I have no painting skills- at- all!! However, I joined her, just to get an afternoon away from my crazy life. Well, guess what? I loved the class and my painting actually turned out pretty darn good! The instructor was friendly and helpful and she guided us through the class so that each person knew exactly what to do and how to line everything up and space things out, etc. By the end of the class, we all had our own masterpieces to take home. I loved the class so much and enjoyed tapping into my creativity and painting skills so much, I've already signed up for another class! read more
