We had my Mia's 5th Birthday at Pachis, the birthday girl and all her friends had so much fun!!! April and Leslie were so awesome with the kids. I shared with Kate that my Mia is a big fan of the Disney movie Descendants, and they totally decorated and creative an active that was so creative and paired so nicely with my daughter's birthday theme. Pachis is such a great place to bring your kids if you a) need to let them explore art, b) need to let them explore art without feeling like you need to hover constantly, and c) if you want to meet a friendly, wonderful woman, Juliana. This place is GREAT. My kids were at ease with Juliana from the first moment we walked in, and they had a great time. They were not rushed, and anything they wanted to try, she brought it to them. We left with several pieces of art to hang in our gallery. And hello?! Painting with race cars?! My son's dream!!! There are so many treasures to look at, too- it was hard to not want one of all the beautiful hand-made items for sale. Juliana is also high-tech, had great music playing and was very easy to be around. We will be back, for sure! read more

Took my daughter who is almost 5 in today for the open art session and she was thrilled! We were warmly welcomes by Ms. April when we walked in and she took my daughter over to get an apron and told us about all the options for the day. My daughter immediately wanted to paint on the wall they have and kept returning to it. She made a few crafts/projects. There were two other girls there who seemed maybe 13 or so and the crafts were great for their age range as well as my daughter as you could be as detailed with a project as you wanted to be. April took the time to check on everyone and to encourage creativity. It was a really fun experience and my daughter already wants to go back! read more

I can't say enough about Pachis. My kids have been coming here for months and every week they learn something new and come home with an amazing project. One of the things I love the best is that Juliana doesn't just sit them down have them make something. They actually LEARN about a subject (ie. architecture, a specific artist, etc) and draw their inspiration from that. I also love that she does art from recycled and non-traditional materials. Just held my daughter's 3rd birthday party at Pachis....I can't say enough positive things about the WHOLE party and this place. Megan was so great to work with during the whole planning process. My daughter had her 5th birthday party and a couple days of camp at pachis. As I expected she loved her birthday party. I was a little more surprised by the comments I received after the days that she spent at camp over spring break. I arrived a half hour early to pick her up and she didn't want to leave. Her school day normally ends at 1, so I thought by 330 she would be done but she asked me to wait in the hallway so she could finish. In the car she told me there wasn't a single moment where she was bored and that "the teachers" really made it great. I believe this experience has opened her eyes about her own creativity and artistic ability. I'm seeing her spending most of her free time drawing new things and collecting items that can be turned into a craft project. Thanks Pachis for a great introduction to art. read more

This is been the worst experience I've had with any business in Liberty Station. We live in the neighborhood and try to support local businesses. Last year I was asked to switch the art class my daughter was enrolled in because the owner did not have enough children in the class. I was unable to make the new class and had to go round and round with her to get her to give me a credit. I just tried to use the credit and she explained to me that it expired in the new year. She never told me that at the time. Terrible business practices and very shortsighted. She can keep the $40 and know that I will never go back or send any of my friends there. read more

Fun, creative art classes for kids. My son loved it!

My daughter went to the winter camp in December. It was a gift from her grandmother for her birthday. I am only giving 4 stars because my daughter is 9 years old and loves to paint and draw. My husband and I thought she was going to be taught painting and drawing techniques but instead she was with a much much younger class. They were mostly 5 year olds. She had an awesome time and brought home arts and crafts which is what she really liked. I'd say this place is for people who need an alternate day care. I'd probably have my youngest go for the camp but find another art studio for my oldest. Friendly teachers who care deeply about the kids is a plus. Recommend for much younger crowd. Hopefully they come up with a class for kids who really want to learn. Overall it was pretty good read more

My six year daughter absolutely loves Pachis. She is excited to go every week to her class during the school year and she comes home with the most amazing art projects! The teachers are all so wonderful and creative! My daughter did summer camp for one week this summer and she had so much fun! I will definitely be signing her up again next summer. I took my son who was 4 years old to Pachis, I had called earlier that week making sure it was ok with his age since they had mentioned online it was starting at 5 years. They told me it was fine since there was another student who was my sons age. I took my son for the first day and he enjoyed it, an hour later after I picked him up the founder, Juliana Flores called me saying he can not come in class anymore due to his age and the other student who was 4 in the class was her relative and thats why she made an exception. I found that highly unfair and insensitive to exclude my son out and to keep another who was the same age just because he was her nephew or relative. I had to tell my son he couldn't go and that upset him and me. It should never be ok to make an exception for one and not the other simply because he is related to you and the other is not, and in the future to make sure to make it clear to your staff about the age before having to bring in child then having to tell his mother he can't come. very unprofessional and unfair to the child. read more

Spent two houres with my daughter and she loved every minute! She made three art projects and was very proud. Juliana is great! She was open and very helpful. My daughter wanted to make a purse, in two seconds Juliana pulled out lots of fabric for her to choose from and made her a purse to decorate. We will defiantly come again! read more

We recently held my daughter's 3rd birthday party at Pachis and absolutely loved it! There were about 9 kids and Juliana and her staff kept them engaged and entertained for the 2 hour duration of the party. The kids loved putting on their smocks and getting to paint. While their art work was drying the kids moved to the outdoor grassy area and played a game, then came back in to finish their projects and have cupcakes. I think all the kids had a really fun time! I really appreciated being able to bring in our own decorations and our own food, The venue itself is bright and airy, they played great music. I would highly recommend Pachis for not only birthday parties but as a source for their creative outlets. We will definitely be back. read more

A wonderful introductory camp for young children. It's a small and intimate studio, the kids get plenty of time outdoors, and the fun and inventive projects my son comes home with are beautiful. My kids have both loved the independence they are offered with the supplies -- really allowing them to tap into their creativity in a place where it's okay to take a risk and make a mess! read more

Super cute studio with really fun and creative projects! Our 4 year old attended a one week camp this summer at Pachi's and she loved it. They did some really fun projects (for example, wrapped their feet in bubble wrap, dipped them in paint and played and danced on huge sheets of paper on the floor, what fun!) My 9 yo daughter attended the Pachis day camp for 4 days over the winter holiday break. My daughter loves all kinds of art. She goes to a weekly art class at the local rec center. We thought this day camp would be a good idea. Not quite...I think that the art projects were fun and age appropriate. But the teachers seemed to be disinterested and glum. My daughter and I independently observed that the teachers appeared to be half-hearted, lacking the kind of energy and interest we hoped for. They seemed detached, distant and disconnected from the kids. Not cruel or mean. Just not really caring or excited to be with children. We won't be going back. read more

Pachis, An Art School for Kids, is an absolute gem! I enrolled my then five (5) year old son in the after-school program as well as some of their special workshops and camps over the course of this past year. At first, I wasn't convinced that my super active son (who has a hard time sitting still, following instructions, and would rather run/jump/climb and playing with Legos) would be interested in art. I can't tell you how wrong I was...He LOVES it! In fact, when given the choice between soccer camp and art camp at Pachis, without hesitation, he insisted on art camp. You would not believe the cool art projects the kids get to do. They work with diverse materials - denim, watercolors, sewing material, etc... they once took a necktie and turned it into a dragonfly...it's pretty spectacular to see. Also, I really appreciate the quality of the school itself. The owner, Ms. Juliana, really knows how to work with kids. She is calm, firm, and has a gift in communicating her passion for art to the kids. The studio itself is bright, friendly, warm, well-organized, and conveniently located. I also appreciate the professionalism of the studio manager, Kate, and the other art teachers that I have encountered at the school. I'm a strong advocate for supporting small businesses and it brings me great joy to support a small business when they also provide a high-quality service for the community. Hands down the best children's art studio ever! Pachi's has kept my 6 year old son's enthusiasm and engagement going all week at art camp! This studio is a fun and safe space for kids to be creative. I have seen the kids form great friendships over the course of the week, which is rare for a camp, but speaks volumes to the environment at Pachi's. I have sent both my children, ages 9 and 6, to Pachis art camps during school breaks and the summer, and they have loved it. It's low-key art fun plus outside games and visits to Liberty Station park. The instructors have been very kind and welcoming. It's also a super convenient location. We will go again. read more
