This one is special because of the coaches. Their motto is "Hard Work Pays Off" and if you look at the coaches, you can tell they take that to heart. It is located in an industrial park in Beltsville, they have about 10 rowers, a few GHDs, a handful of bikes and all the other equipment that one would expect at a box. Oh! And there are showers!

As part of the event, there was a full warmup and workout (which my husband enjoyed, but I had our baby with me, so I was just there for support). I've been doing CrossFit on and off for years, so I am not new to the workouts or equipment, but if you're new to CrossFit, they offer a free trial workout where you can try it out to see if you like it. Even though it's a group class, athletes all get a lot of personal attention and tailoring of the workout, so it's still individualized. The coaching and management here is excellent, well-organized, and attentive to all the athletes. Their instruction before the workout was detailed but efficient, as they helped people with their technique, and modified the movements for anyone who needed it. The coaches here all have experience in a wide variety of sports in addition to CrossFit and can accommodate athletes of varying abilities, skill levels, and with different fitness goals. Compared to other gyms I've been to, there's a lot of space and very nice new equipment in great condition. The athletes and coaches are diverse, welcoming, and supportive, and create such a positive environment for anyone to work out in.

So far it hasn't been crowded weight area. There are quite a few pieces of cardio equipment. All in all, I'd say the gym has all you need. Maybe the equipment isn't new, but it appears to be clean and well maintained. The locker room decor is better than average with glass doors on the showers and shelves and hooks in and around the showers. The recovery zone is very relaxing. Updated 3/1/26. Ok, I've come back to give the whole truth that I was reluctant to share. I was being greedy and didn't want to share, but you guys deserve to know. Workout Anytime uses the very B E S T chair massagers and Hydromassage tables I've tried anywhere. One negative: I saw a man walk out of the sauna literally dripping with sweat. He walked directly to the massage chair and sat down. When he was done, he did not wipe down the equipment. I use the wipes before AND after using the equipment. You might like to too. I have a lot of gym experience, and this Lanham location is a solid choice. I currently belong to several gyms and frankly, Anytime Workout is my preferred gym, over Planet Fitness, the YMCA, and LA Fitness. From what I've seen, Gold's is a joke. The first membership I would drop is LA Fitness. All the employees at this Lanham location are very kind and the clientele is very supportive of other members. They are providing a great community and I'm sure you'll fit right in. I hope this helps with your decision-making process. No matter which gym you join, make sure you FULLY understand their billing and cancellation policies.

I decided to give them a peek myself, as I am trying to get back into a regular gym membership. I signed up for a free trial online and literally within a minute or two I received a call, haha. Talk about promptness! When I got a chance later on, I went to the gym to experience it. I love the massage area and I appreciate that they have WiFi -- it's essential when trying to listen to online music and the mobile network isn't always reliable. The layout is straightforward and every section has the disinfectant spray and towels. Their rules are clearly displayed and from the crowd everyone seems to conduct themselves pretty well. The locker room is very clean, and while I didn't use one during my visit, there are plenty to choose from -- even some smaller ones near the front. There are two desks near the front, and each one has hand sanitizer. There's also a dispenser next to the front entrance. I really like that you need to be able to scan in to enter, and you get penalized if you let people tail you. It's my first time entering a gym like that, and it's a nice sense of security. And every member gets a free towel and water bottle to use during their session -- nice! FYI, basic membership does not include the classes (they're $15 each otherwise). I do wish there was more hand sanitizer throughout the entire gym and not just in the front, but otherwise I think the spot is a great deal and worth exploring.

I found myself really missing lifting heavy weights. I could only do so much with my home setup. Everyone has always talked about how Planet Fitness is only $10/month, and it's barely 10 min from my house, so I said... what harm could it do? In an unusual fashion, I'm going to break my review down into a pros & cons list. PROS: Signup - EASY! I didn't have to talk to anyone -- the only thing I asked was if I could walk around and see the gym before committing. When I was done, all I had to do was scan the QR code, make an account on the app and sign up -- no upselling or having small talk with a trainer... it was AMAZING! Cleanliness - seeing sweat every now & then is inevitable, but I have seen way worse. I really appreciate the distribution of disinfectants and hand sanitizer machines. So far, I haven't hit one machine that was empty! Lockers - There are several lockers out on the main floor, so I don't have to walk all the way into the locker room -- that's a win for me! It used to stink back in the day XD. QR Codes - lots of workout machines have QR codes so you can scan and see how the exercises are supposed to be done if you don't know how! Crowd meter - the app will tell you how busy the gym is before you even get there... that saves me a drive, because I don't like working out when it's busy! CONS: Stairmasters - One of my favorite machines, it's great for the legs. And there are 5 of them -- but only 2 are currently operational, and they're right next to each other :-/. I do hope it's only temporary. Location - Planet Fitness is easy to get to, but it's on the corner of Beltway Plaza where a lot of not-so-pleasant incidents occur, especially at night. Despite the 24 hour convenience, I find it in my best interest to avoid going at night if possible. Might be trickier once winter arrives, but I will have to do what I can! Otherwise, for $10/month, it's a no-frills option and I'm a fan. Staff are quite kind, thankfully. I don't know if this is universal in gyms now, but some of their rules fascinate me -- no cell phone usage in the locker room -- is that because of Instagram fitness models or courtesy? And I know what a lunk is now -- I'm happy they take people dropping weights and grunting seriously. That used to be quite disruptive!

My trainer was very good but changed my schedule once I decided to go down in my package from three days to four days. He wanted me to come in earlier which really wasn't conducive for my work schedule. Which leads me to say this establishment Elite Technique is more so money driven then client centric. With this experience I decided to take some time off on my fitness journey because it seemed as if the package I selected was more important than the client as i do understand your trainer wants you to obtain results, one's finances comes first. After some months, I decided to begin my fitness journey again with another organization EVOL which is one of their competitors to my knowledge. Rightfully so their prices are drastically different. I decided that I wanted to receive my initial photos that my trainer at Elite Technique took back when I started my fitness journey. I reached out to my trainer because i still has his contact information, wished him happy holidays and requested my photos that we took in late February/ early March. Unfortunately, I didn't receive a message back from him. To take it up a level, I out to the business manager via text and surprisingly I didn't hear back from him. Then I decided to try giving this establishment a call. The business manager answered and told me that he would put in a request for those photos from my trainer. A day later, he tells me that the photos are no longer available. Not surprising at all because I have heard from other clients that this is how this organization operates. It is astonishing to me that an organization such as this one would not have a timeframe where photos are retained for their previous customers. My advice to you would be to get your photos when they are initially taken by your trainer because if you decide to stop going and go somewhere else, the likely hood of you receiving the photos are very slim. This is unfortunate as the services they provide is something that you have paid for and should receive regardless of what you decide to do. All in all, I believe this organization needs to work on being more client centric. Please do your research because there are other organizations out there where you will obtain the same results at a more reasonable price.
