The instructor was rude and frankly mean. The food was amazing but not worth the unpleasant afternoon.

This is a nice cozy little place which does cooking classes for kids and adults alike. I came with…read moremy son who was invited for a birthday party. The place was quite neat and well organized. The instructor started off by getting everyone an apron and providing some basic safety guidelines. Then she moved on to explain what they were going to cook for that session. The instructor got the the kids who were in the 6-10 year old range engaged quite well. The kids made some tacos, some guacamole as well as mockaritos (virgin margaritas) as well. I can't comment on the taste of the food because I didn't try it. However the kids seemed to enjoy it and were quick to finish off their plates. Overall the kids enjoyed this unique birthday party experience. I am seriously considering teaming up with them for maybe an office team building session.

There were 9 adults and 4 children (the youngest was 3 years old). Once we entered the kitchen, we separated into our small groups of 2-3 people (mothers paired with their daughters). Pheap (the owner) had already measured and prepared all the ingredients for us. During the class we didn't have to follow any recipes (she shares her recipes via email). We saved a lot of time and were able to make a lot of food! Pheap would demonstrate each step before we would try to do them. She was extremely organized. We had plenty of space to work and all the tools we needed to get the job done. There were sinks nearby so we could wash our hands whenever we needed to. We didn't have to deal with sharp knives, powered kitchen tools or hot ovens, so this activity was safe and kid friendly! We rolled dough, made mini pie crusts, put the crusts into the tins, mixed ingredients and decorated cakes! Pheap put all our food into a fast cooking oven. She did all the planning and hard work for us! All we had to do was relax and have fun! I had an AMAZING time here! In a mere 3 hours, we made mini quiche, mini blueberry pies, scones, macaroons, cucumber sandwiches, strawberry parfaits and we decorated mini 3 tiered cakes! Not only did I experience my first ever High Tea, but I was proud in knowing that I participated in making the food! Afterwards we enjoyed our food in the beautiful dining area! This was an excellent way to spend quality time with family and friends! Check out the menus on the Palates website and see what types of food you might want to make. There are so many options to choose from! I definitely recommend this place!

Some highlights were the Arctic char, the shrimp that was prepared in front of us, the popover with bacon jam, The devils butter and the short bread cookies. They also created a Xmas cocktail for us. Attending a presentation there this past week, I finally had the opportunity to see what Kitchen by Brad had to offer. At the front of the establishment is a reasonably large room, a perfect venue for the presentation I attended. Offered that evening were a variety of nibbles, presented tapas style, all of which were delicious! Standouts for me were short ribs which were prepared to delicious, tender perfection (unlike many places where they can be tough and/or dry). Two other items that were standouts were wonderfully prepared jumbo prawns in a spicy sauce and a "to die for" stack of candied bacon. Numerous other items were also offered, all well prepared and very tasty. Also offered were above average pairings of a white and red wine, and a very good prosecco. Service was provided by a very capable and friendly young lady and Brad made numerous appearances as well. If you have a meeting, presentation, or moderate sized family gathering, you owe it to yourselves to call Kitchen by Brad and see what they have to offer and if they can accommodate your needs.

However, I'm not a wine drinker, so it didn't really feel like a good deal for me. I would've rathered they include the apron instead. The class runs from 6-9pm, which was a little on the later side for me to really want to eat, but I guess when you're running a class on a weekday, you have to accommodate work end times. Class is in a conveniently located Grant Macewan building, and it includes parking in the campus parkade across the street. The classroom is very nice. There's a large family style table and then the kitchen area. The set up of the class itself is a little awkward. We sat around the kitchen prep area, which would've benefited from some mirrors so we can see what the instructor was doing. They do have cameras behind the instructor, but then the TV screens are located behind you, which really doesn't help much at all unless you keep turning around to look at it. The instructor did encourage students to come around and watch, but after a long day at work, sitting and watching is more preferable.. The instructor was good, very informative. The other kitchen staff were nice as well. It was a fun experience, and they offer a variety of classes, it's just the price point is a little on the higher side compared to other cooking classes offered in the city. Take out boxes are provided if you have leftovers or want to share what you've made. Recipes from the class are also provided.

I took the Advanced Bread Making class and it was great! We are split into teams and everyone makes a different style of loaf (or whatever it is that you are learning that day). You can walk around and see what everyone is doing and Celeste, the owner, is guiding you. At the end everyone shares in a family style meal with usually something additional that Celeste made. No clean up just good chats and good food. Take the recipes home and try them out. And if you're considering buying a big ticket item this is a great way to try out some of the machines cause we used so many of them so what a great way to try before you buy! The classes are in the evening so there is no worry if other people bugging staff. Be prepared to stay a little late since we are learning and then enjoying a meal. Totally worth it.

So I walked in and this store is amazing! First the staff were very friendly, everything was very clean and sanitized was provided at the front. There were lots of pots and pans and utensils. All sorts of cooking gadgets, storage gadgets, and baking pans. In the back of the store there is a pantry section, this is where I found the citric acid I needed. They have tons of spices and baking ingredients plus more in the pantry. I found the prices on these items quite reasonable considering this is a smaller local business that is family owned. The aisles were large as well! I highly recommend you check this place out if you're looking for any specialty items or neat gadgets or the next time you want to bake something! Barb's is a must shop!

The event is put on primarily by Dupe and Seun, however, they have help from other people as well who were there to help explain dishes! "Buka" stands for Nigerian Street Food. I had the opportunity of going to an event at Cafe Levi. They had booked the space and kitchen to be able to host a Nigerian lunch! I am not familiar with Nigerian food at all, so this was a completely new experience for me and my partner. They began with a powerpoint presentation which was actually very helpful because it showed the different types of foods in different areas. We had a chance to look at the different types of Nigerian spices that are used in the food - we passed them around. We were very well educated before we tried the food. They were so nice to accommodate me as a vegetarian! I loved the beans in particular because they were so spicy and delicious. My partner almost died though because it was so hot. it was very funny. I believe they do cooking lessons! I will definitely be trying one of these in 2020 and can't wait! This is definitely an experience that you don't want to miss!

I'd sampled some of their food at a Yelp event in the past but I was so excited to get to try an entire meal. Vegans and vegetarians: there are so many delicious options! We had the peppered broccoli, the vegetarian jollof sushi, the vegetarian buka pies and the jollof rice for dinner with the puff puffs in spicy chocolate and chin-chin poppers for dessert. The jollof rice is pretty spicy (which I liked) and it pairs perfectly with the broccoli. I loved everything and we had plenty of leftovers. The standout is definitely the puff puffs. They're kind of like a mini doughnut covered in chocolate sauce (with a kick). I can't wait to attend a cooking class in the future but at least for now, I'm happy to have the option to order delivery from them on Saturdays.
