Amid tears and a lot of stress, Samra was painfully dismissive and straight up nasty. I finally got her to call the owner, who insisted that we had picked up her dress. I demanded he search all the dress and he recommended that we go out and purchase another brand new dress. Seriously?! The next day, I get a text from Sergio saying that they found the dress. Incredibly friendly service, and wonderful at working with my shy, skinny daughter who needed to have her flower girl dress taken in several inches at the waist. Rose did a beautiful job with a week's turnaround time, and there were tons of compliments at the wedding. We discussed whether the sleeves should also be taken in, but then agreed that it would be considerable work and unnecessary -- I appreciate that she didn't try to upset me on additional alterations! The price felt a little on the high end initially ($65), but I haven't had to get dress alterations in years, and since the dress had multiple layers, including a thick base fabric and a very delicate overlay, I can see how it might be more complicated. read more

Last year, I inherited a vintage mink coat that belonged to my grandmother. Yelena Couture cancelled my first appointment and said they were closed with no legitimate reason, but rescheduled me for the following week. I cannot recommend Yelena couture enough. Rose is a master at alterations, from simple to complex. And she is sweet and trustworthy and a pleasure to deal with. She also gives great advice as to whether to alter something and how to do it best. Yelena Couture has truly changed my life. I love improving upon and re-inventing many of the clothes I buy. Of course I also need them to conform to my 2-size body, which is small on top and big on the bottom. Ever since I discovered Rose many years ago, this body I inherited is no longer a problem! Rose can take garments that used to be on my "No way" list and make them fit to a tee! But to resume where I started out, Rose makes it possible for me, (and helps me to) re-invent clothing to my liking. I can now buy a tunic top and have Rose turn it into a crop top. I can see a skirt that is a size zero made of incredibly gorgeous fabric and ask Rose to turn it into a scarf! No problem. I know what I'm dreaming of...she makes the dream come true. A bonus is that she can make all this magic take place in an usually short period of time. Previous tailors I've been to turn things around in 2 or 3 weeks. Rose can make it happen in days. And it doesn't hurt that her spacious and comfortable shop has its own parking lot and is conveniently located right near the Chestnut Hill Mall. I reached out to her on 12/20/18 in a panic because my maid of honor dress didn't fit for my little sisters new years eve wedding! Yikes! She responded on facebook at 930pm and was happy to help accommodate my last minute alterations. In the morning I called a local tailor that was 5 min down the street (vs 35 min without Boston traffic!) and they helped me out. I only went with them because of convenience. I was referred to Yelena Couture by the store I purchased my wedding gown from. I will make sure that this store will never refer anyone to them after the terrible experience I had. First of all their prices were outrageous. The alterations they did do were half-assed and you could tell they took shortcuts wherever they could. Yelena was rude and so was her staff. When I picked up my gown the hem was not even and the garment bag I brought it in, was completely destroyed from them treating my dress like trash. She had every excuse in the book about the hem and when I got the gown home after not wanting to deal with them anymore there was a red nail polish stain on the bust of my gown! On my wedding day, I went to get into the car and stuck myself with pins, which were left in my gown!! They completely forgot to alter one of the layers! When I took the pins out, so that I wouldn't get pricked again, the hem dropped 2 inches. My dress was too long all day and I was tripping on it. The bustle was also not done correctly and again was dress was too long. The back dragged and everyone stepped on it all night. It was the worst vendor I dealt with throughout the entire wedding planning process. Every other vendor did amazing jobs. At Yelena Couture they just want to take your money and do as little work as possible, hoping you won't notice their terrible workmanship. When I contacted them to try to resolve these issues, they told me Yelena was on vacation and they couldn't do anything about it. They promised to mail me a new garment bag so that I could transport my gown safely, because they destroyed my garment bag. It had holes and was covered in dirt. That replacement garment bag never came int he mail... they totally blew me off. Never ever get anything altered by them! That was the biggest mistake I made! read more
