This company has a bad case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. A technician came to open up a newly installed geothermal HVAC unit. He declined because he said that he didn't know what type of gas that was within the unit. After a few calls, Three weeks later, another tech comes by and opens it up - no problem right?? Except he didn't check or was told that the geothermal unit needed it's gases to be drained and replaced with refrigerant. I purchased what they called a GeoThermal heating and cooling unit at the Las Cruces Home and Garden show. The install went well, and the unit worked, though my electric bill "savings" were non existant. I paid ALOT for this unit. Fast forward a few years later, and after being told I had a leak from three different techs, and then having their leak specialist come out to find the leak, the specialist spent over 4 hours and told me there was no leak. He flat out said that he could find no leak, nor any evidence of a leak. After fighting with their management, that wanted to charge me in excess of $500 for their leak service, I decided to drop Yellowbird completely, as of 2021. This year, I had a competing service out to check the AC unit. First, they found the leak in 10 minutes. Then, I come to find out that the unit that was sold to me at an exorbitant price, was not in ANY way a GeoThermal unit. It is actually a water cooled compressor AC unit. They also informed me that I would be lucky to get a few more years of service from this unit, which is barely 7 years old, and until today, never touched by anyone other than a Yellowbird technician. Apparently, the service contract I renewed every year did not include anything other than an look at the unit. No actual service maintenance. In my opinion, after 7 years of dealing with this company, they are shady, untrustworthy, and they charge waaaaay more than some of their competitors. They do not do the work you pay them for, and their office manager is a flat out jackass. I have to take some of the blame for not doing due diligence on this company, but it is no surprise that they rate so low. If they sold you something that they presented as a "GeoThermal" unit, have it checked out. I can pretty much guarantee that it is the same type of unit was sold, which again is NOT geothermal, but a water cooled compressor AC. I have a rental property with a HVAC service contract thru Yellow Bird. My tenants contacted them when their furnace stopped working. J.D., the service technician, showed up promptly to troubleshoot and fix the problem. This review is mainly to express how very impressed and satisfied I am with his professionalism and customer service. J.D. called me out of state and gave me a very easy to understand explanation on what he thought was the potential problem with the furnace (bad inducer assembly). He located a spare part, installed it, and the furnace started working again. Not only did he fix the immediate issue, but J.D. went above and beyond when he noticed the furnace & duct work was not anchored down appropriately, which was causing additional noise to the unit. He anchored them down at no extra charge. J.D. also noticed that the placement of the thermostat was not in an ideal location and was probably the reason the heater kept shutting off before reaching the set temperature in the house. He recommended re-locating the thermostat at some point in the future and advised the tenants to simply set the thermostat a few degrees higher as a quick fix. I highly recommend J.D. for any HVAC work. He was patient with all my questions & concerns, super knowledgeable and a good teacher (I know nothing about furnaces), and he left a good impression with my tenants as well. Yellow Bird owners take note: You should put J.D. at the top of your list when dispatching technicians for service calls. Very sad that this company doesn't even follow what their website says about the respect they have for their customers. This company has been a nightmare to work with. Their employees hit and damaged our septic line which we were told they would pay to fix, never heard from them so we went ahead and fixed it, gave them the invoice for the repairs, we were expected to receive a check in the amount of the repairs this was about 2 weeks ago, still haven't received any check I keep getting the run around about the check, so then we cancelled the solar panels because well if they are this bad with their air conditioning and they don't respect our property or our time as they say they do on the website why in the heck do I wanna get solar panels from them.....so now I have to be credited for the solar panels and they are refusing to response regarding the credit and the financing on just the geothermal unit......at this point if I don't hear back from them I guess we are hiring an attorney and going for more than just the $900 check they owe us and credit to the financing company. 1/22/2020 We got our check but we decided not to do solar panels and we cancelled those early September until this day we are paying for solar panels not installed on our home..... now owner is giving me a run around on our tax credit papers..... and he wants me to settle for a check less than what the solar panels are worth! 2/3/2020 So I did not receive my tax credit forms that the owner supposedly would have sent out Wednesday....I called today and no one could give me answers whether my forms got sent out or NOT....these forms are the only things i am waiting for to file my taxes to receive my tax credit for my geothermal unit we are paying for....this shit show has been terrible.... i hate dealing with these people i seriously just want my forms so i can never speak to them again or deal with all their horrible service and run around bullshit! 2/27/2020 So we received our forms after I had to hound them at the office and actually physically stop by since they like to ignore customers. When we got our forms they had a three thousand dollar increase which I called them out on it and got some bullshit excuse that it was the price of the geothermal bundled with solar since that was originally what we wanted but I thought bundles were suppose to save you money....... I told him I would not sign and they needed to be corrected so I dropped them back off at their office this was on the 18th of this month. I have yet to receive a text or call that my papers are ready. I have texted to see if they are ready and no response. The equipment they sold us 7 years ago has required major maintenance every year beyond the normal maintenance and now our unit needs a new compressor or to be completely replaced. Unfortunately, we have to give this review. This company installed a geothermal unit a few years back. I love that it is energy efficient. But, it has had a number of maintenance issues. That is to be expected with new technology. But, the service fees have become ridiculous. Most recently, a thermostat is not working. Yellow bird charged over $250 ($89 dispatch fee plus flat $159) to come out and reset thermostat (basically reprogramming a digital thermostat). That fixed the problem for a day. They wanted to charge us $250 again to come out and check it again. Who charges like that when the problem is not fixed? read more

I bought a Geothermal AC and heating unit from them in 2016. I also have purchased the yearly service contract, which covers repairs, set-up and shutdown depending on the season. For the last two years, I have ahd to have the refrigerant refilled. Last year, the tech after filling it, stated that he had to speak to his service manager regarding what may be a problem, a possible leak, and that he would get back to me. I never heard from them again. This year, the first tech came out to set up the AC unit for the summer, again had to refill the refrigerant, as he stated I was completely empty, and stated that I had a leak. He stated that finding and repairing the leak could be an all day event, as it could be underground, where they would have to dig up the coils to repair a leak, or it could be in the main unit. Either way it would cost me about $600 above what the service contract covers. I set up an appointment, a second guy comes out, also states there is a "massive leak", and leaves. The AC quits working later that day. I again set up an appointment for a guy to come out and find and fix the leak, which two prior technicians have stated there is (and I believe them, you don't have to refill refrigerant unless there is a leak. Ever. Google it.) This guy tears the AC apart, runs a vacuum test, and tells me there is no leak, and that he recharged the system (for the second time this season). I will also state that this guy worked his butt off, in severe heat (105 degrees). I am now unsure as to whether or not to pay the $600 that the company is now demanding of me, for the following reasons. 1. 3 separate technicians from the same company stated there was a leak, two did so definitively. 2. The technician that came out searched for hours, and could not determine there was a leak, let alone find a leak. 3. AC units, even overly expensive geothermal units such as the one I purchased (from this company, I might add) do not "burn" or need to be "topped off" with refrigerant, unless there is a leak. 4. Knowing the above, there are only 3 possible explanations: A. Someone made a mistake. B. Shoddy work/diagnosis. C. I am being scammed. On top of that, the Service Manager had no clue as to what was actually done, claimed that a leak was found and fixed, even though the technician had stated that he could find no leak, and was rude and accusatory on the phone, and actually sounded like he was trying to intimidate me into paying with his gruff demeanor. I have no problem paying honest money for honest work, but the work I was told needed to be done by this company has NOT been done, if the refrigerant has indeed needed to be recharged three times in two years. Either someone is incompetent, someone is lying, or I am being scammed. Up until this point, I have had zero reasons to suspect the compan's honesty or integrity, and have been happy with the work they have done. I sincerely hope a resolution is reached. As it is now, I am considering having a different company come to either confirm or debunk this company's findings. read more

Yellowbird was recommended by a friend for installation of HVAC and solar panels. As soon as we said "Yes" the crews were here to begin the installation. All went smoothly and the benefits of replacing the swamp cooler immediately showed up. Our electric bill dropped to nearly Zero , and because the sun is free and water is becoming more scarce in our area, we now have air conditioning that costs next to nothing and losing the swamp cooler is better for the environment. I had a geo thermal system installed by one hour. Which is the same company as yellow bird. The system never worked right. Every year they had to install more Freon cuz it leaked out. The owner Rocky is a terrible business owner! instead of fixing the problem they just put bandaids on it and dumped more Freon into it. I would not recommend yellow bird to my worst enemy. read more

So having my system for 2 months now and have called several times about My central air unit they put in! I have stayed home from work 3 times now and still a no show!!! Now the solar guys are awesome and that works great. But really 88° is not my ideal temperature and it runs non stop and the thermostat is set at 70. I am still waiting for them today. If they don't show I will be demanding a refund and them to put my master cool A/C back on my roof because that at least worked good !!!!! read more

I was promised a refund check, that I still have to go out of my way to get a status on. I understand it takes time to get certain permits. But they lack so much communication and there's always a different excuse. They installed my system ok. from Dec-May I noticed that my eletric bill was still high . I thought that was a scam. then I decided to call the electric company. they me the pane weren't producing any energy and that I needEd to call Yellow Bird. So I did they sent someone out to check. They found out that a circuit breaker was ne turned on. after that everything was working. They told me to send them a copy of my Statements and Eletric bills back to December. So I did. They said they would compensate. it been over 3 months. when I call they always say they would call me back and give me the run around. Had to put a one star since I don't have the option to put any negative stars. Contract was signed 9 months ago and they are still not done with the job. We are paying for solar panels and our regular electric bill since they have not completed the job. 7 months of complaining and the job is still not done when they claim the job has been done since May. Still waiting to see how the system will work and hopefully we won't have to deal with Yellow Bird anymore especially when the receptionist won't even let you talk to the boss. Don't believe their ads and referral bonus. Referral bonus on business card states $250 per referral, but only received $75 after months of calling to find out status of this. BEWARE!! I have been under contract with Yellowbird since November 2019. It is now 8 months later and I am still not connected to El Paso Electric. We are still waiting on an inspection from the county.We are constantly having to call and follow up with staff to find out they dropped the ball again. 8 MONTHS!! I get that there is a pandemic but when you hear other companies that are getting it done in a month or two, this is just ridiculous. Next thing I know I was called by someone and they told me it would cost me an extra $2,500 for electrical upgrades. The sales person told me the price he quoted any and all electrical upgrades. So they gave me a new quote. the next thing I know is they call me and tell me they can't do the job because they can't get the AC unit. They told me they would call me the next week. That was a month ago and still no communication at all. I started this whole process in March. I have called over and over always they take a message. they arent as good as they say they are they installed the works on our house and there sales man told us a lot of lies they told us they would guarantee our incentives rebates something like 30 grand,also said they would help us do our taxes and they never did, so they installed our system and we never heard from them they were sopposed to come and make sure everything is running in good order and they never did they didnt even give us filters for the heating and cooling we had installed i had to bug them with a lot of call so they could fix there wire mistake they made on our hvac system they almost burnt it up i dont if there is a professional there, i have called several times to get some tax imformation good luck now all we got was 9000 dollars over a 5 year period for our geothermal and thats over taxes if you owe its a fraud these rebates service so now were stuck with 40, 000 thousand dollar bill good luck people youll never see them again when there done and they lied about lots of thing i can go on and and on but i think you get the ideal ! i just hope our system last GOD HELP US ! read more
