At the time, my family's attention and resources were focused entirely on helping my 16-year-old cousin fight cancer, so committing to a project like solar just wasn't possible. When Carlos learned about our situation--and that my cousin shared the same name as his son--he immediately showed that this was about more than a sale. He told me to take my time, focus on my family, and not worry about solar until the timing was right. Over the next 16 months, Carlos proved his sincerity. My main complaint is that our sales person told us that we would receive a cash rebate from the federal government that we could apply to the cost of our system. When we filed our taxes for 2016, our CPA informed us that not only would we not receive a cash rebate but the rebate was to be applied to federal taxes as a credit and was not usable for self-employment taxes. My husband and I are very disappointed at the misinformation we received.
