The ice cream is pretty good here but nothing out of this world, pretty average to be honest. I like the whole theme and concept of the yellow brick road and wizard of Oz carried throughout the place. There's a decent list of ice cream flavors ~20 and some pretty creative ones like Brookie Dough or Brownie S'mores. The ice cream sandwiches are usually a hit in my house, we like the chipwiches and they're a quick and easy grab if you're in a time crunch. This place does get busy quick and often times there's a line out the door so be prepared to wait. I went to this place and was expecting a normal size Italian ice, instead I received a microscopic cup that u would use to take shot of whiskey with. My order was RAINBOW REGULAR SIZE Italian ice. Not only was the regular extremely small but the rainbow was not mixed. It was obviously cherry, blue raspberry, and lemon scooped in one tiny cup. Let me start by saying this ice cream is terrific and is one of the few places that has peach..my favorite BUT when Alex handed me my one scoop I actually laughed. He said you want another scoop? I said sure, thinking that paying for the extra scoop would make it a normal size. Wrong! It was just another golf ball sized scoop on top of the first. I don't eat a lot of ice cream - or much in the way of dessert-like food of any kind - but my wife and I have an annual tradition we call Ice Cream for Dinner Day, and we celebrate it every year at the Carousel. We went in last week, and I ordered a mocha shake. The girl behind the counter asked, "Is mocha chip okay? That's all we have." Huh? There are a few different ways to make a mocha shake, and using actual mocha ice cream is not one that would ever have occurred to me, but she didn't seem to know any of the others. Let's see... you could put coffee syrup in chocolate ice cream, or chocolate syrup in coffee ice cream. You could even combine coffee and chocolate ice cream. The girl was stumped, I tell you. When I suggested all of the alternatives, you could actually see the light bulb appear over her head, and then explode from the overload. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep thinking about our poor world and how, someday, it will be held hostage by our most current crop of high school graduates. A big selling feature at the Carousel is the fact that they make waffles. There isn't much better than soft vanilla ice cream on a hot Belgian waffle, though I can only eat a bite or two. To me, it's one of those one note dishes where the flavor and texture, lovely though they may be, start to make me feel very ill in short order. My wife, however, loves them dearly and seems impervious to their effects. I believe she forces herself to stop three quarters of the way through, because she feels that to eat the whole thing by herself would be unseemly. They used to have a wide and varied selection of both common and unusual candies, but it appears the owners have shifted away from that. I was shocked to find candy cigarettes for sale as recently as two years ago; you may remember those fine confections of what seemed to be sugar and chalk, touched by a hint of wintergreen. Really? In this day and age? If I hadn't seen them, I'd have never believed any company was so bereft of good conscience as to still manufacture them. There were five packs left, and it was obvious that the candy operation was winding down, so I bought them just to get them off the rack and away from children's eyes. I display them on a bookshelf in my living room; they are an interesting artifact, and quite the conversation piece. Being that there are thankfully few instances of bad ice cream through the courses of our lives, there is no way I could recommend against the Carousel. Also, their prices are very reasonable, and the portions tend toward large, if you're the sort who goes for cheap and plentiful. You should definitely stop and treat yourself to something on one of these beautiful summer evenings we've been blessed with lately; it's one of those small things we don't always think to do, but that bring real joy to life. read more

THE BEST!! Only ice cream shop in Brick I will go to. When they close for the season, I stock up on their ice cream cakes and go to their Silverton location for regular ice cream often! Their ice cream is awesome, their Italian ice is awesome and their cakes are awesome. My dog loves their dog ice cream treats as well! They all around have great products of all sorts. I've been going here for years, even undertook their "pail of ice cream" challenge when they used to have it. That was basically a pail literally with ice cream that earns you a spin on their prize wheel and your name on the wall though I don't believe they do that anymore. I did cheat by sharing, ha! On my way to a meeting and I pass this shop. I stop by and try a sundae. I was greeted warmly. They have many flavors of hard ice cream and the typical soft serve. My sundae was large and they give good portions. The place is clean and inviting. Located on the road and easy to see with its yellow exterior. The prices seem to be the standard rate. Love this place. The woman owner is such a doll. The people ice cream is great, but they also have dog ice cream. Whenever we go there, we walk and bring our dog. He sits outside, and she comes outside with a complementary treat for him and some water. Dogs also get a complementary cup of vanilla ice cream. She's checked with a vet and the ice cream is totally fine for the dogs. Also, she has a freezer filled with dog ice cream sandwiches and dog ice cream cakes with dog cookies on it. She's a total dog lover and we love it!!! It's so nice to be treated so well and then also have your pet treated so well! I would always give them lots of business! read more
