I was so excited to try this place because of the theming and it was amplified after looking at the flavor list. What a let down. I was excited to try the Fruity Pebble- tasting Play Doh but it didn't taste like Fruity Pebbles at all. Even my little one made a face and I never saw him do that with ice cream. I opted for the Brookie Dough, which I probably should have sampled also. It ended up being more like cookies and cream to the point where I actually went inside to look again and make sure I got the right order. There was barely any cookie dough at all. The kids got Cookie Monster and regular cookie dough. We get Cookie Monster from our local place often, so my son was set on it. He didn't even want to eat this though. Odd taste, barely any cookie. Same thing with my daughter - I was prodding her to eat and then I tasted it - odd taste, barely any cookie. It tasted syrupy, maybe like maple. My husband loves s'more flavored ice cream so got the Philly Graham Slam and that was the most tolerable, though not even close to other versions. I am surprised to see the line out the door when we drive by. I don't think it's inedible, but I would rather opt for another place. The outside area to sit and eat was nice, mostly clean, and they provided wet towels in case the tables needed cleaning. PROS: When I went there it was during the time of covid. They had many flavors posted on their door and the nicest staff serving you making sure everything went well and that they kept sanitary. The prices were normal for an ice cream place and the ice cream tasted great and was prepared well. CONS: Unfortunately, the parking lot is very tiny and there's hardly any seating. At the same time, it's a small building so when you're allowed to go inside it can be packed. Not sure if there's a bathroom open to the public either. OVERALL: Despite those cons I'd give this place a 4 stars because you have to keep in mind that its an ice cream parlor, not a diner, so these are common cons to smaller ice cream places. We threw a high school graduation party for my son this past weekend. He had requested an ice cream cake with a layer of regular cake. The Ice cream shops I normally go to did not make that type. This led me to try Yellow Brick Road, and I'm so glad that I did! I gave the order over the phone, and the employee was so helpful and friendly. The price of the cake was totally reasonable. But the very best part was how delicious the cake was. The vanilla and chocolate ice cream were so creamy, there were lots of crunchies, a layer of cake, and a layer of rich chocolate syrup. The ice cream is pretty good here but nothing out of this world, pretty average to be honest. I like the whole theme and concept of the yellow brick road and wizard of Oz carried throughout the place. There's a decent list of ice cream flavors ~20 and some pretty creative ones like Brookie Dough or Brownie S'mores. The ice cream sandwiches are usually a hit in my house, we like the chipwiches and they're a quick and easy grab if you're in a time crunch. This place does get busy quick and often times there's a line out the door so be prepared to wait. I went to this place and was expecting a normal size Italian ice, instead I received a microscopic cup that u would use to take shot of whiskey with. My order was RAINBOW REGULAR SIZE Italian ice. I don't eat a lot of ice cream - or much in the way of dessert-like food of any kind - but my wife and I have an annual tradition we call Ice Cream for Dinner Day, and we celebrate it every year at the Carousel. We went in last week, and I ordered a mocha shake. The girl behind the counter asked, "Is mocha chip okay? That's all we have." Huh? There are a few different ways to make a mocha shake, and using actual mocha ice cream is not one that would ever have occurred to me, but she didn't seem to know any of the others. Let's see... you could put coffee syrup in chocolate ice cream, or chocolate syrup in coffee ice cream. You could even combine coffee and chocolate ice cream. The girl was stumped, I tell you. When I suggested all of the alternatives, you could actually see the light bulb appear over her head, and then explode from the overload. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep thinking about our poor world and how, someday, it will be held hostage by our most current crop of high school graduates. A big selling feature at the Carousel is the fact that they make waffles. There isn't much better than soft vanilla ice cream on a hot Belgian waffle, though I can only eat a bite or two. To me, it's one of those one note dishes where the flavor and texture, lovely though they may be, start to make me feel very ill in short order. My wife, however, loves them dearly and seems impervious to their effects. I believe she forces herself to stop three quarters of the way through, because she feels that to eat the whole thing by herself would be unseemly. They used to have a wide and varied selection of both common and unusual candies, but it appears the owners have shifted away from that. I was shocked to find candy cigarettes for sale as recently as two years ago; you may remember those fine confections of what seemed to be sugar and chalk, touched by a hint of wintergreen. Really? In this day and age? If I hadn't seen them, I'd have never believed any company was so bereft of good conscience as to still manufacture them. There were five packs left, and it was obvious that the candy operation was winding down, so I bought them just to get them off the rack and away from children's eyes. I display them on a bookshelf in my living room; they are an interesting artifact, and quite the conversation piece. Being that there are thankfully few instances of bad ice cream through the courses of our lives, there is no way I could recommend against the Carousel. Also, their prices are very reasonable, and the portions tend toward large, if you're the sort who goes for cheap and plentiful. You should definitely stop and treat yourself to something on one of these beautiful summer evenings we've been blessed with lately; it's one of those small things we don't always think to do, but that bring real joy to life. read more

I've been going here for years, even undertook their "pail of ice cream" challenge when they used to have it. Love this place. The woman owner is such a doll. The people ice cream is great, but they also have dog ice cream. Whenever we go there, we walk and bring our dog. He sits outside, and she comes outside with a complementary treat for him and some water. Dogs also get a complementary cup of vanilla ice cream. She's checked with a vet and the ice cream is totally fine for the dogs. Also, she has a freezer filled with dog ice cream sandwiches and dog ice cream cakes with dog cookies on it.
