I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and absolutely loved the setting - the rolling hills with the trees changing color was just magical! We purchased food from the local food truck in the parking lot. Nothing special but a nice option when you're hungry. I was happy to see they had lots of fruit-based wines. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the ones I chose except for one. The others were too sweet and syrupy for my taste. The live music was really good and we enjoyed sitting out on the patio watching the alpacas. I'd come back to give this one another shot if just for the scenery alone. read more

Be sure to add Yellow Butterfly to your list of wineries to visit! My friend from out of state visited a month ago, so we dedicated a Saturday to visiting some wineries in the valley. If you can't tell from all of the photos in the reviews, the landscape is absolutely stunning. They also have alpacas on the property which are fun to watch. The main portion of the winery is in a renovated barn. The inside is just as stunning as the outside. I may be partial since yellow is my favorite color, but the outside of the bar is gorgeous as well! Our service was wonderful. The two women working the bar were friendly, very helpful, and quick. The wine is also delicious. I always recommend getting a wine flight so you can taste a variety. Yellow Butterfly does a great job with their fruit wines! Their only downfall is their food menu. They often have a food truck, but it's not always what you are typically looking to eat with wine (there was a bbq truck when we were there.) Aside from this, they have bags of pretzels and other small snack to purchase. We wished we could have had a charcuterie board or at least some cheese and crackers with our wine. I really enjoyed our visit here. It has such a beautiful view of the hillside to enjoy while you sip wine on the deck. My mom and I did a tasting first at the bar to decide what to go with. While we are typically fans of dryer wines, we know that Ohio grapes are often much sweeter and it's usually just best to embrace the sweeter wine options! We quite liked several of the ones we tried and ended up getting a bottle of the Country Rose. There was live music outside and it was a beautiful fall afternoon/evening to sit outside, listen to the music, enjoy the views and each other's company. They have a large outdoor deck and the rolling hills and fall leaves made a beautiful setting . My wife and I agree that this is the prettiest setting of all the wineries we've been to in southern Ohio. It was so peaceful and idyllic. We enjoyed a grilled cheese from the food truck in the parking lot. We unfortunately did not enjoy the wines we chose - they were too sweet and syrupy for our taste. So 5 stars for the location and 2 stars for the wine. We enjoyed watching the alpacas as we drank our wine and ate our sandwich. The staff were friendly and helpful. I visited one of my besties in Coshocton and she took me here to sample a wine slushy. The views were beautiful and loved watching the lamas. The peach margarita slushy was pretty good, but the view topped it off. I thought the inside was beautiful and they have a lower level you can rent out. Beautiful area! The winery is housed in a large barn which I believe is 92 years old. The wines were absolutely wonderful. We tend to go for the sweeter wines, particularly fruit wines. We found several that we loved - the blackberry and the apricot were amongst our favorties. Our hostess was lovely and made recommendations. She chatted about the area and made us feel very welcome. Although we liked several of the wines, we only purchased one bottle. We were going to visit 10 to 12 wineries over the weekend and we didn't want to take home 50 bottles so we were limiting our purchases. Yellow Butterfly was one of our favs. We will definitely be back and we will make more purchases. read more

Visited five wineries in one day. Not bad for a light drinker and an easy drunk! I had to stop driving after the third one, remember, they give you just sips but I'm not a drinker! Anyway, I am not a wine expert so bare (or is it bear?) that in mind. I find it difficult to find wines I like. I like sweet, not dry. I found a few here. The host of the tasting is the wine maker himself. Very knowledgeable and friendly. He helped us understand the blends and his methods. Out back you can see alpacas too! I do know people and my opinion is for your continued success you should polish up your people skills or hire a person with a personality to serve your tastings and talk up your wine. Perhaps we caught you on an off day, but we ran into a group of ladies at another vineyard who shared the same feelings about their experience at your beautiful facility. We came to this lovely winery because of the musician. We had heard him before and liked his style, so we came to hear Jake "Barefoot" McCoy. This place has the most beautiful setting! Even though it was raining I stood out on the back deck to take pictures of the rolling hillsides, one with horses. There are alpacas at the bottom of the hill but I didn't go down because of the weather. The winery is an old barn fixed up. It was chllly and damp (we have had unusually cold weather here lately and the rain was caused by the recent hurricane in Texas.) They have a limited food menu, but everything that we saw being served looked good. We didn't order any food because we had dinner plans for later. Wine samples are 3 for $1, which is reasonable compared to some wineries we have visited. I wasn't crazy about any of the 3 I tried (the only dry wines, which are normally my favorites) and we selected one of the ones my husband selected which was a semisweet, but not so sweet that I couldn't drink it. Most of the wines are very sweet. Two tastings and one bottle of wine was $17.58. I don't know that we will go back as the drive was a little over an hour, but if it were closer, I think we would go for the music. We like wineries with food and live music! read more

Location is beautiful and very scenic. The food is very over priced for what is offered. The owner is not easy to work with and very quick to temper. I was part of a larger group ( of over 30 people) and the group was not treated very well. People trying to buy wine were ignored, they made the group organizers jump through hoops for no reason and were very unaccommodating. I was just there as part of a bus group 16 people. The same group was there last year I was once again disappointed. I believe they are not prepared for doing large groups. The wait staff was rude and disinterested the same as last year. The owners seemed to take issue with those of use who do not drink and did not participate in the wine tasting. The food was so so the same as last year. Once again people eating steak were subjected to not getting there food with everyone else. The told one lady that someone else in our group got her food, when the event coordinator double checked our meals with our orders they were exact. Then the poor lady was told her steak was set off to the side and did not make it out with the rest of the meals. My mom who was part of the group was asked if she wanted her dessert because they had run out of desserts. That was the tipping point. They knew who many people are coming this trip had been booked for months, and they ran out of food. W.T.F. Never again, I believe in second chances but not 3rd. This will keep me from doing this annual trip again if they are the restaurant/ winery we go to. read more

Recently I had the task of helping to organize a low key bachelorette party for a friend. The bridal party eventually decided on this winery. You need to make reservations by Thursday if you're going on Saturday and be prepared to let the staff know whether everyone wants the steak (how they want it done) or chicken and ribs when you make your reservation. This place is a little out of the way, but so worth the drive. The staff was very friendly and accommodating even offering to take pictures for us. The wines were delicious (and I am very picky about wine) and food was AMAZING! This place was quiet and we felt like we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Views are breath taking and all for a very fair price =) . Whether your going out for a night with the girls or on a romantic dinner date with the hubby I would highly recommend the Yellow Butterfly. read more

Applied to be a wine steward on indeed. The next day I got a call from a unfamiliar number and asked who he was calling. His response was " clearly not you"! I could not believe it! Wtf! When I researched where the call came from, I decide to drive up there to see what this prick looked like. Clearly, I was no longer interested in the job or being a customer, but I had to see this. I arrived at about noon on a Saturday, about 20 minutes after he called me,but he wasn't there. The staff was also rude, even though they had no customers. Two hours later I returned and staff told me that he was here somewhere and I could wait if I wanted. I walked all over the place for about 20 minutes. It was beautiful and country quaint. They now have 3 customers sitting at a table. It was Saturday and they would only be open two more hours so I was wondering when they would get busy. Shouldn't a wine\restaurant be open on Saturday night? Michael finally came out. I introduced myself and he said , "yeah, I know who you are" and had me write my number down again and said he would call me later that night. He never called. Guy is a flaming ass hole! read more
