Welp. Spoke too soon. A friend of mine warned me that they were unreliable. I'd also heard a thing or two from others. I brushed it off because I had yet to experience them being unreliable. They'd always been timely and the dispatchers all seemed professional and polite. That was until tonight. I called for a cab at 4:50pm. The female dispatcher said they'd send a cab right over. In my experience, I'd never waited more than 10-15 minutes, so I expected that they'd show up within that window. 30 minutes go by. I call back. The dispatcher says "Oh, he should be pulling up any minute now." 10 minutes go by. I call back (because, to me, "any minute" is no more than 2-5 minutes). This time, she says "I see that he's right there; he should be pulling up any second now." [side bar: it's worth noting that all of these interactions were had with the feeling that the dispatcher was extremely annoyed and inconvenienced by my call. How dare I call her at work and ask her to do work!]. Another 15 minutes go by. I call back. This time, a male dispatcher takes my call. His attitude was super stank from jump. I explain that it's been nearly an hour since I called and all I keep getting told is that the driver should be pulling up any second. Those were obviously lies. I explained that the whole reason I was calling a cab was to get over to UPS before close (6pm). With the driver still not there, it was looking more and more like that wasn't gonna happen, but still, I had faith. I further explained that I'd previously had good vibes from this company, but that this current experience was causing me to rethink things. The dispatcher went in. He became incredibly defensive, aggravated, and hostile. He then started yelling at me: "do you want me to still send a cab or NOT?!" He repeated that about 4 times. (yet, I thought y'all already sent one? I thought he was supposedly pulling up "any second"?). Anyway, I asked that he still send the cab, as I aimed to call UPS and ask them if they would let me slip in a little late. He then claimed that the driver was on my street (which is a cul de sac, so he can't miss me) and he was once again within minutes of me. After taking a chill pill he then tried to riddle off a bunch of unsolicited excuses: "oh, well we don't usually come to your area; "that particular driver is new," blah blah blah. We hung up, with my expectation that the cab was actually on my street, like the dispatcher said he was. 30 minutes later and still no cab, and no call back. Obviously I didn't make it before they closed.
Horrible experience and they have proven themselves to be as UNRELIABLE as everyone says they are. Plus, the customer service STINKS. I guess I was getting lucky those other times. Smh. I hear BLUEBIRD is better, so you may wish to try your luck with them. I'm using them from now on. I'll post a review following some experiences. In the meantime, their number is (508) 999-1124. Alternately, the other cab company in the area is CHECKER CAB SERVICES, and they are at (508) 999-4545 (can't speak on that cab company, as I have not tried them), but it's worth a shot if you're out of options or luck. Both CHECKER and BLUEBIRD are based out of New Bedford. read more
