I was going to do a round trip to my pharmacy and back, as I was out of my medication. I was told it would be a half hour. No cab showed up. I called the day before to schedule a taxi to take my wife and me to the airport to go on a vacation. They were supposed to come at 8 AM. They didn't. By calling them several times, I managed to get a taxi to come by 8:40 AM. If I hadn't put a margin for safety in my times, it might have been very difficult to make my flight. Two days in advance, our family had scheduled for our wheelchair-bound, 88 year-old mother to be picked up and transported to her birthday party where 45 people from multiple states had gathered to celebrate with her. We were notified 10 minutes before scheduled pickup that no one would be coming as no one was available. TEN MINUTES!!!! After scrambling we were able to get mom alternate transportation and to her party. When we called to complain after the event, we were told "oh well, sorry". Took a taxi from the airport. There was no identification or displayed meter in the car and when we arrived at my destination he quoted an exorbitant rate. He then told me he only wanted cash and would charge more for a credit card. He then didn't have enough change. I feel like I got ripped off. I will NEVER call yellow cab again!! I called them the day before I needed to go to Tampa airport for a 4:45 am pick up. I called at 4:45 to make sure cab would be on time. I was put on hold then the operator told me she could not reach the driver. But would try again. When I called at 5am he still could not be reached. But said there were other drivers available. At 5:10 NO ONE one could be reached!! At 5:15 we had to leave so we had to take our own car & had to park in short term parking cause we were so late. We were on vacation for 10 days so parking cost us $220!!! We were so upset that the cab never showed & that we were never informed, we had to call them. I never had a problem in the past but I will never call them again. Poor business! I wouldn't even give them one star. read more

When you give the phone number to the operator and she gives it to the driver wrong, that is a problem. When you give the operator the address and tell her the restaurant is behind the hotel and she does not pass that along to the driver there is a problem. Be careful in Tampa, there are very few cabs and companies like this are driving business to UBER. read more

The drivers will try to scam you. I had looked up rates from the official Tampa International Airport Ground Transportation site. They stated: "The minimum fee from the airport is $19. There is a flat rate fee of $30 to downtown Tampa." We were going to a hotel 3.4 miles away so I assumed the cost would be $19. Not cheap but it is what it is. We got in the cab and the driver told us it would be $30. I said "that is the cost to go downtown" (9 miles away). He then said downtown was $40. We got out of the car. We called Lyft and the cost was $14.78. No one likes to be taken advantage of. Avoid this company. read more

This review is mostly for the customer service associates and management at Yellow Cab. The drivers are independent contractors and I have never had any issues with the drivers. The customer service agents/management do not communicate with the drivers and do not know the laws the cab drivers have to follow due to them being independent contractors. Don't bother making a reservation as you will be misinformed. read more

My husband and I arrived at the Tampa Airport Saturday night at 6:30. We collected our luggage and went the taxi cab pick up area close to the Southwest luggage belt. There were 2 taxis that said yellow cab on the side , we were directed to go to the first one. We got inside and immediately noticed how very old, worn and filthy the car was. As we started the ride to our home in Safety Harbor, we noticed the cab had no meter, no tablet computer , no identification of the driver. We were a little scared so when the driver with a foreign accent dropped us off at our home, he asked us for $60 cash only. I pulled up the video footage from my 2 ring cameras, there were no numbers on the cab, it was a fake and we could have been robbed! I called Yellow Cab but they didn't seem concerned. Update July 8! So yet again my trip was cancelled by this company, I prescheduled it for this morning at 615am last night. I called because it got cancelled or should I say the driver marked he completed the trip and I proceed to call and they start looking for a driver at 615 (my pick up was supposed to be 615) I made it to work ten mins late thanks to them! I'll never use them ever again. I will just use lyft or Uber because they're reliable!!! Whatever you do, don't use this horrible colony with the worst customer service possible. I had a wonderful experience with the company. The supervisor called me 15 minutes before I was scheduled to leave to confirm that the driver would be pulling up in front of my house in about 5 minutes. The driver was excellent, with just the "right amount of talking" :D. The best part was that the supervisor called me once I was dropped off, to confirm that I was dropped at the right location, which to me added a personal touch that I was not expecting. read more

I took a Yellow Cab from the Tampa International Airport to Sun City Center and it cost me 125 plus tip. I asked before I got into the cab, knowing that Lyft was charging 87 at that time of day. The driver said that whatever the meter said but approximately in the 90 range. When I got into the cab I realized there wasn't a visible meter and he charged another 5 for coming from the airport. On Valentine's Day 2/13/18 @approx 7:15pm my husband and I took this YELLOW CAB Grand Mini Van from Tampa International Airport to Enterprise Car Rental on Spruce Rd. The taxi attendant flagged the next car up which happened to be this van. We had two oversized bags, so this vehicle was perfect for our needs. The driver of foreign decent, was not engaging with us at all after loading bags in the back. We enter the vehicle, tell the driver where we are going, give him the address. He mumbles something and proceeds to drive off. At no time does he enter an address in a meter and or mobile device. This is our 1st time in Tampa and have no clue where we are going, so we enter the address in Waze to get a feel how of how far we are, It was only 2.3 miles away. A few minutes later, I asked the driver do you know where we are going? He rudely says "you gave me the address". I say okay, wasn't sure because there this no meter running. No reply from him. We arrive at Enterprise. He unloads our 2 bags and I ask him what do we owe you, he says $20. I said WHAT? for 2 miles? He got irate and said "that's the price, doesn't matter how far you go". I ask him if that's a flat rate, he says "yes, I wait a long time in line to pick people up only to go short distances". I reply that's just wrong, $20 for a short ride. He gets irate again and says "if you don't like it, I'll take you back to the airport". I say no, it's fine-give him the $20(no tip)due to his bad attitude. In my opinion, this guy should find a new job. His English isn't very good, horrible to zero communication skills and apparently doesn't like his job. The one time we did catch a ride, the driver was pulled over by a cop, got lost despite having GPS, and almost hit a tree. No joke. How is this company in business? I called for a taxi the day before my flight. I needed a taxi to pick my husband and I up and take us to the airport. I requested the taxi at 5:00 a.m. The taxi had been reserved. Today the taxi did not arrive on time, so my husband called again. Yellow cab staff stated that our taxi had never been reserved. We were told that we would have another taxi in about 10 to 15 minutes. It again, never happened. We literally just got a call from a taxi driver who is on his way to our home to pick us up at 5:41 a.m. We decided to take an Uber who arrived in 7 minutes. The Tampa airport should seriously consider removing Yellow cab from their website because when people request a taxi at a specific time it is for a reason, especially when you have a flight to catch at a busy airport. We survived. That's the best I can say about it. The vehicle had every maintenance warning light on, seats were shot, and ac was out giving us blasting wind from the rolled down windows. Driver had no idea where the hotel was, couldn't understand the address, had no gps. He was also drunk and weaving lanes. I used the Yellow Cab service at the Tampa Airport. Originally I had planned to use Uber but the app wouldn't let me confirm the ride so I ended up using Yellow Cab that is contracted by the airport. Uber had quoted me $34 for the ride and when I asked the driver how much the trip would cost (while enroute) with Yellow Cab, he said $89. When I said Uber quoted me $34 he said that taxi service will always be twice as much as Uber. Once we arrived at my destination I tried to pay with credit card and he said that due to Hurricane Elsa their credit card service was down and that I should pay with cash. I was with my young son so I decided not to argue. I later called Yellow Cab company and asked how much my trip would cost and I was quoted ~$60. I told her my experience and she took all my information and told me she would have the Yellow Cab Manager for the Tampa airport call me back. That was on 7/8/21 and I still have not received a call back. I was able to get the cab driver's cab #150 and he said his name was "Gean" and I had him spell his name and sign my receipt, however he refused to provide his last name and his signature is illegible. read more
