Rudest cab driver i have ever experienced. My hotel shuttle broke and they asked me to take a cab, so i did. The cab driver was not happy with the "short fare" and complained about it the entire drive with vulgar langue. He was taking my boyfriend on a longer route. - Our driver was an idiot My boyfriend was stranded, as his car was in the shop, with no uber around. He called me. I couldnt come so I called this taxi service. Set a pickup time, gave them my email address and paid for the trip over the phone. I gave them my boyfriends number. Whyd my boyfriend call me 15-30 minutes talking 'bout, "This a**hole's saying that he wasn't paid. I -" Guy asked to speak to me. Boyfriend put the guy on the phone who not only spoke broken english but was trying his best to talk over me. So, I screamed at & over him and hung up on him, because, "I dont know why you got on the phone. You dont even know how to resolve a d*mned payment issue so what do we have to talk about? This was 'prepaid'. If the payment didnt go through on the phone, how the hell did you pick him up? Whyd you take the call? And how is any of this MY problem? Anyone with sense who wanted to get paid wouldve called their damned dispatcher by now." What did "shortbus" think I was going to do- give him my card number? Actually, I wouldve if he hadnt handled the situation so poorly. But, nope! I seldom get that riled up or the opportunity to be completely spiteful but he managed to crawl right up under my skin. Called the taxi service because how the hell did they set the appointment if the payment didnt go through - and how dare the stupid driver harass *MY* rider for the funds?! I was texting my boyfriend to walk away and cool off. I was still on hold by the time my boyfriend called back with the taxi company on the phone. My boyfriend was yelling in the background to "make sure they charge $42" because, apparently, the guy was ignoring my boyfriend and taking the long route to pull more money..because his is an out of state number and the driver probably assumed my boyfriend didnt know his way around. Im sure. My info was clarified with the dispatcher. I have no idea what happened but whatever error it was occurred on their end. The dispatcher and the driver began to talk and iron the mess out. Whatever. Again, I told my boyfriend to get out of there. It wasnt his issue. The payment situation was btween that driver and his employer. An hour later, I hadnt been charged. Another went by and I think I was charged $2 or 4. The driver had the nerve to charge a tip. My boyfriend said they called him all night long to reach me. In order to bill me properly. I couldve called back. I didnt. Because f*** those people, thats why. In truth, if this were an ethical company, I wouldve done the right thing. I wouldve called and paid them their due. They arent into doing the right thing and that guy got what he deserved for trying to hustle us. A**hole. Thats what happens when you play dirty. You dont win when youre deceitful. It doesnt happen often but if the recipient is worthy enough, sometimes, the universe will dish out the karma and give you a front row seat to bear witness. read more

I work for a company where we are contracted to use this company for our clients. I have had clients wait for hours. Customer service always has some sort of an excuse. On one experience, we called after our client was waiting for over an hour. Customer service told us they had a cab 3 miles away and that they should be arriving at any minute. 45 minutes later, they told us the cab was 2 miles away. After another 45 minutes, told us they did not have a cab available and then told me they never received a call, even though I talked to the same lady on the phone, all 3 times. On another experience, Customer Service told us that the cab arrived, and all the lights were out an no one was here. Its a 24/7 business when Security at each entrance at all times. So they straight out lied. Now, on rare occasions, we call, and they show up right away. I would say 1 out of 7 times we use them, it is a good experience. We use them because Corporate says we have to. If using them for yourself, save time and look elsewhere. They are not reliable at all. read more

I have used this service 3 times, and this 1-star rating reflect my latest (and last) experience with the Yellow Cab of Tampa. I will preface this with the fact that the first two times I tried this service went fine - on time and got me to where I needed to be. Now, my third, and most definitely last time, of using this service was nothing short of atrocious. The cab was 20 minutes past the scheduled pickup time, so I called to get a status update. The operator picked up, tersely stating that the cab was 16 minutes away. I asked "16 minutes away?" Mind you, it wasn't asked in a manner to confirm that's what I heard, but more of a "are you kidding, that's 36 minutes after when you're supposed to pick me up for a flight that's now quickly approaching." The lady on the phone obviously did not care, and said "Yes, 16 minutes" and abruptly hung up. Alright... 20 minutes pass yet again, and I give them another call. I got a different woman this time, who informed me that my cab was 16 minutes away. "Um, I called 20 minutes ago and someone told me the exact same ETA." She then put me on hold, and then put me back on and asked me when my scheduled pickup time was. I told her it was now 45 minutes past when I was supposed to be picked up, and she asked me, "Why didn't you call earlier?!?" Um, I did. I absolutely did. And now I'm calling you again because no one has picked me up. I was put on hold again because she was trying to put me in touch with the cab driver that obviously missed my pickup. I don't know why, but we were put on a three-way call, and the cab driver became argumentative and defensive with the operator, saying he already picked me up. Uh, no, clearly you have not, because I'm still standing here and am not at the airport. Turns out he picked up someone entirely different, causing the operator to put me through to another cab driver that was closer to me. This man said he was about 10-15 minutes away, but by this time I had no time to wait around for someone who may or may not show up. The cherry on top is that not a single employee ever apologized for this - instead, they were either putting fault on the customer and/or each other. The ending to this long story? Had to pay a $100+ overnight parking bill because we ended up DRIVING OURSELVES and paying a multi-night overnight fee. Thanks Yellow Cab, for making me pay five times the amount of a regular cab ride to the airport. Terrible. read more

I was a devoted Yellow Cab customer for 3 1/2 years since moving to Tampa. But no longer. I had reserved/ordered a taxi for an important trip to the airport with my disabled mother and HE SCAMMED ME AND NEVER SHOWED UP. Repeatedly lied about his location (I could see he was driving AWAY from me on the app) and completely destroyed my dedication to this company and to taxis in general. I had previously consciously avoided Uber and/ Lyft but no more. Stay away from this horrible company. read more

I took one from the airport to Westshore plaza. The driver refused to use meter and quoted me $15 minimum after I got on the cab. Fine, it's usually $10 but I was so tired after long flight. The steady decline is complete. I've used them for years... Never again. Booked 8 hours in advance with their app. 5 mins before pickup, I checked the app and it showed no cars assigned and no cab nearby. I called, gave them my confirmation number, and they acted like the reservation didn't exist. Said they'd see who they could find. I asked who was assigned. They said "nobody" and they can't do anything about it since all of their drivers were independent. Then what's the point of using a company whose drivers and dispatchers couldn't care less about customers or good service? Uber's going to get my business in the future. I know this is not NY where there is a cab at every corner and there is no need for reservations. I have used yellow cab services several times and the last time I called for service I was still waiting 30 minutes later from the time they were supposed to arrived. I ended up canceling and have not used them since. For a service that is not commonly used around here I would have expected a much better service. read more

Asked for a cab the night before at 6 to arrive at 4:30 am for a very early morning flight. No cab at 4:30 even though the texts at 4:10 said it was on the way. Got a call at 4:40 that no one was available but they were rerouting another driver. So at 5 we are finally leaving the hotel. read more

I took a cab from airport to downtown- 15 minute trip. Once I arrived to my location, the driver told me the fare was $30 and he didn't accept credit cards. Luckily I had cash. I questioned the fare being so high and there was no meter running. I looked to see what uber would have cost and it was $15 dollars. I took uber back to the airport after my meetings and will use uber again when I'm back in 2 weeks. read more

I reserved a yellow cab on Aug 1, I only had to wait 5 minutes for the cab to arrive, the driver was friendly and courteous, and the cost was only $6.50, if you need a cab, I recommend Yellow Cab, they are better than a certain other cab company that will remain nameless! read more

Cell Phone fell out of my bags when he dropped me off from the airport. Hotel called dispatch and they did nothing to resolve the problem. So when the credit card company finally found the driver, he returned the phone, with a fee for getting it to me. I am torn, as loss of my phone would have been a catastrophe, so read this as a positive review, despite having to pay again to get it back. I am calling Dan's taxi next time, though. read more

Against my first instinct, we decided to reserve a taxi cab to the airport. Although they were courteous on the phone when we needed the cab earlier, the taxi driver was so rude, cab #6. He didn't answer our greetings, he was driving at 70mph on a 45 zone and he didn't bother to check for road work in his huge GPS , which led us to take another road and ended up paying more than we expected, he had the nerve to get upset because HE didn't check his route before hand. Really bad service. I was in Tampa for a business trip for few days and had to get cabs in few occasions. I got a cab from Yellow Cab at four different times, and each time, something wrong happened. The first time, after I arrived at the airport, the cab driver could not find my hotel and lost me, and for some reasons, did not want to use his GPS. The second time, the driver did not know how to go to my destination and I had to explain him myself. The third time, the driver complained when I told him that I was going to pay by credit card, even though I left a good tip. And the fourth time, it took one hour (and I am not even exaggerating!) for a cab to come and pick me up to go back to the airport so that I could catch my flight. Since I could not wait anymore, I had to get a Uber (which took only 7 minutes to come and pick me up). I refused to get into the cab, which arrived at the same time, and the cab driver got mad and insulted me. Dear Yellow Cab Company, when you are already losing customers to services such as Uber, why aren't you trying to at least keep a decent service for customers like me who are still willing to get normal cabs? I am not asking for much. Please, just be on time, know your directions, and stay polite with your customers. read more

I give this company 4stars for one reason only, and that is for the exceptional service that I received from Mr. Dooley, cab #79. He was always on time, very clean car, and drove with urgency. He wasn't one of those creepy cab drivers that i ran into a few times during my trip. He wasn't drilling me with questions, or forcing conversation. Yellow Cab taxis are in an unsafe mechanical condition. Ride them at the risk of your own personal injury. In Sept. 2015, I arrived at Tampa airport and took a Yellow Cab to the convention center. The cab was a Ford Crown Victoria, probably only about 5 years old, but in quite poor mechanical condition -- basically a "beater". While driving on the highway, the hood opened up and smashed into the windshield --- shattering it and blinding the driver. He got over to shoulder, and luckily nobody hit us in the process. His comment was interesting: "I hate when this happens". After waiting 15 minutes on the shoulder, another Yellow cab showed up, already with passengers on board, and I got in. After dropping the first passengers off at their destination, I was finally taken to the convention center. The driver had the audacity of charging the full rate for the ride. The incident was a direct consequence of the disrepair of the cars. Apparently, the hood's latch had worn out, and air had gotten under it while we were at highway speeds. I would like to say that the customer service I received yesterday, Saturday, January 25th, was bad, but there are two issues with that; first of all, "bad" does not adequately describe the atrocity of the "service" I received and secondly, I can't really call it customer "service" as no such thing as "service" was even remotely received. I requested a cab around 11AM to go downtown for Gasparilla, and that was somewhat okay. Of course I dealt with nasty attitudes on the phone because clearly, I'm an annoyance for wanting a cab, but that was to be expected from Yellow Cab. The reason I am taking time out of my day to write about my experience is because of what happened later on that evening when I called for a cab to pick me up. Admittedly, it was Gasparilla, so I expected longer than usual wait times. That was no issue. After calling approximately 32 times (no hyperbole there), I finally got through to an operator who told me it would be 5-30 minutes. After waiting an hour, in the cold, at a busy intersection in Downtown Tampa, I finally called to see what was going on. I was told that the driver called, but no one answered...I told her I had been outside the whole time and would have seen the cab so I asked where the cab went. Turns out he/she went to the address I had requested that morning. Not sure how that mix-up occurred, but I just let it go and requested another cab. After another 40 minutes of waiting, I called to ask what was going on. 20 minutes later I got through to an operator. waiting a total of two hours by this point, and was told no supervisor could talk to me. After a bit of complaining and being told there was nothing anyone could do, I was finally handed off to the "supervisor/dispatcher" who miraculously appeared when I complained enough. Ms. Chanjaree was the vile supervisor who did nothing to solve my problem. Over the course of our conversation, she told me there was nothing she could do for me and that I'll just have to wait another hour. Then she said that her employee told her that she told me that I was in a place where a cab couldn't pick me up...her employee never told me this, and I was not in a place where no one could pick me up because cars were driving by the whole time, including Yellow Cabs. When I questioned her for calling me a liar and telling me I was wrong, she said I was being "hostile." By this point I had been waiting 2 and a half hours. Finally she said she would try to get a hold of someone to get me, so I continued to wait. No one came to get me. I was finally able to flag down a taxi on my own. Unfortunately it was a Yellow Cab; it pained me to give this hideous business any of my money, let alone $33 just go home after waiting for about 3 hours. I will NEVER use this company again. If you use them, I get ready for a head ache and no remedy. read more

Would have given them zero stars if I could. We ordered a taxi for 3am the day before to make sure we would get to our flight in time. Instead, they never showed up. We called after 10 minutes of waiting and they said a taxi was 10-15 minutes away, so they would be 25 minutes late?! After 35 minutes of waiting, we got a friend to come and pick us up instead. I have used yellow cab alot due to an older car that yearly goes in for repairs..The one thing that disappoints me is that yellow cab the company takes 15% of the credit card revenue just because its a cc purchase. I don't always have cash but if I have to use a cc I don't want a discouraged driver who knows he won't get the total pmt...I try more to have some cash I will give them as a tip and pay fare w/ cc only...BOO yellow Cab for taken more than u should cause it's a cc...It should be 1 or 2 % only... read more

We booked online at 6 this morning and got a quick response, confirming we actually needed a van and then confirming that our taxi would pick us up at 10:30. We checked out of our hotel at 10:25 and waited for an hour. Called twice and we're told the cab was on the way (we were 3 miles from the dispatch center). Never again. read more
