I scheduled a pickup using their web site and received only a basic confirmation email that didn't contain any details. So later I called and confirmed the reservation, and I guess I'm lucky that I did because the person said "oh, I need to correct the drop off location...". On the pick-up day I received a call from the cab driver and was given a time-of-arrival that turned out to be a wild guess because he was 15 minutes late. I can't even begin to describe how run-down the vehicle was that picked me up...and when I mentioned something to the driver about how it ran, he said that it just came from the garage and still had an engine issue!! The last-straw for Yellow Cab was that we couldn't take the toll road (i.e., the fast route) because the cab driver "forgot" his transponder. I took a Yellow Cab home after a night of watching football with friends in Hyde Park. I felt like I was punished for making the responsible choice. The cab was grimy and dirty. The cab driver spoke to me inappropriately. It is quite sleazy for a cab driver to make a pass at an passenger, assuming that the late hour and her inebriation level makes this OK. I will not use Uber or Lyft currently due to the legal status of these operations. But I will call another cab company in the future. read more

I booked Yellow Cab for a 4:00 am pick up in Rocky Point to go to the airport. The driver arrived exactly on time to the minute. The driver was also courteous and polite. I arrived at St. Pete's airport ahead of schedule. have read all the negative reviews but my experience was 5 star, no complaints. I would use Yellow Cab again anytime. read more

I called to have a yellow cab pick me up on 6/19/17 when I called the dispatcher I specifically asked if I could pay with a credit card. They said yes. When the driver showed up in cab 59 he was on the phone and asked "where you goin" I gave him the address and off we went. He never started the meter. when we got to my destination 4 minutes later he says $11. a little high for a 4 minutes drive but I was in a hurry and just wanted to pay and go. He then said his card machine was not working. fortunately, I had some cash and paid him. When I then called the office back, the rude woman who answered the phone told me that all the card machines work and if you were not allowed to use a card the ride is free. Yesterday I rode in cab number 52 from the Tampa airport to the Don Cesar in St. Petersburg. The cab was very hot. The air conditioner in the back barely worked at all. We told the cabdriver, and he just said it works. He hardly said a word to us the whole trip. Also, the total fare was over $72. I make this trip every year a cab fare is normally between $40 and $50. There was no traffic, and we drove 80 miles an hour the whole way. This seems very excessive. I could get a town car or limousine from The Don for $65. read more

Liars and cheats! First I noticed that the meter wasn't running when we got in. I asked the driver why not and he said it was a flat rate. There wasn't any flat rate / location posted but the fare seemed reasonable so I didn't argue. When we got to our destination the driver demanded 5 times what he quoted us and took my bag when I refused. I asked to speak with his manager or to be given the number for the city's cab grievance line. He provided me with the number to his company I called and they confirmed that they do not have flat rates. Meanwhile he was also calling his company. When I told the person at the company that I had a driver trying to extort me she changed her story and needed to speak to a colleague. The same colleague that was on the phone with the driver that was trying to rip me off! Well wouldn't you know it, the person I was speaking to at the company came back on the line and completely changed her story from when she thought I was just a random customer calling in for a rate. We came here on vacation and being cheated was a really crappy start to it. Long story short these guys are crooks especially cab #198 my advice would be to avoid this cab company like the plague. Yellow Cab didn't show up and they didn't call back. When I called them back, they said one of their drivers would contact me. He didn't. It worked out to my long-term benefit, though. I downloaded the Lyft app and got a pleasant ride home for far less money than if the cab had ever showed. I haven't tried Uber yet, but I will. My parents took Yellow Cab to the airport so I didn't have to get my kids out of bed to take them. The driver drove all over the place, taking them way out of the way and back, and charging them almost double what United charged them last time they visited. These guys are crooks. Yellow Cab of Tampa is without a doubt the worst taxi service I've ever had the misfortune of using. The woman on the phone is incapable of comprehending simple directions, not to mention the cab drivers are incredibly rude. I was in a group of six, and the cab driver could only fit 4 of us, so he brought us to our destination promising to go back to pick up our friends. We confirmed with him 3-4 times on the ride that he would go back for them; at one point he even acted offended that we didn't believe him. Our friends waited 45 minutes for the cab and it never arrived. They were ultimately forced to walk. Yellow Cab is a terrible service and should never be used if you have any intention of getting a ride to a given destination. read more

Be Forewarned: Some of their cabbies are good. Some are out to take as much money from you as possible. They will go ridiculous routes on purpose to get more money from you and then they will be offended when you call them out on it. Your best bet is to stay clear of this company altogether. There cab dispatch has never learned what Google or Google Maps are to find a location you are describing. There management is worse than awful when you complain about their cab drivers purposely going terrible routes and then offer no restitution when they admit their drivers are inadequately prepared and they will blame it on the fact that the drivers haven't driven that route lately. If your drivers aren't "familiar" with the area, that is your problem, not mine. read more

Highly upset with this company. I was discharged from the hospital at 1:30 am and reserved the car 10 mins before discharge. A car never came. I kept calling to check if a car was coming and no one could give me an answer. I waited until 4:30 am before walking home alone and as a teenage girl that could have been extremely dangerous. You would think calling from a hospital would be a priority for pick up but I guess not. read more

Always terrible, terrible service. Booked a cab online, no one showed, and they claim never to have received the reservation. ALL cab companies in Tampa have the same terrible service, so they are no different from their competition. Calling is probably better than booking via the web, but you will wait on hold forever and may not get through. UBER really needs to take over this town. Took 3 hours for a cab to pick me up on a Saturday afternoon. I called at 2:45pm and was not picked up untill 5:45. I was over charged for the service. When I called to speak to the manager I was hung up on. When I called back I was continously hung up on. All I was looking for was an explaination and an appology. I went through so many people over the phone over the next hour who were rude and discourtious. I will never recomend or use yellow cab company again. They refuse to hold anyone with yellow cab responisble for there lies and misfortunes of people who call for a cab and have to wait over 3 hours, when they are promised from dispatch that the cab should be there in 15 minutes. "3 times I was told 15 minutes and it ended up to be 3.5 hours. I will be calling TIM the General Manager on Monday. I had an issue with one of your cabs/ driver on Saturday night / early Sunday morning. The cab number was 626 a beige mini van. I gave the driver a $100 bill and asked him to wait for us at Wal-Mart on Dale Mabry for no more than 5 min. Once we left Wal-Mart the driver was gone. One of your other drivers actually saw him leave as soon as we got in the store. The cab fare wouldn't have been more than $20 I was planning on giving the guy a really nice tip for waiting for us. I use yellow cab all of the time for the airport and hotels around Tampa and I have never had an issue. The two stars are because the driver was capable and polite and I reached my destination safely. Otherwise use only if absolutely desperate. Prices are outrageous and the vehicle I was in was unclean. No reason to put up with it. I see why people are flocking to Uber and I am now convinced.
