I have been browsing Yellow Mart for months for a new Sig Saur, the Rolex of handguns. MAtt called me and said they had a shipment. Sigs do not stay for long. They are simply the best hand gun made. I planned my trip so Matt was in and I was early and he had plenty of time. He had just what I wanted, 9mm. The price is fair. You can never lose money on a SIg since once you own it two years it might be worth at least if not more than you paid for it. Matt showed me the operation of the gun. I used to own one so it is similar. Double cock and twin safety mechanisms: lower hammer and unseat cartridge. He gave me his utmost attention and answered all of my questions. He is a true expert and not some new employee. This store is a real gem in our Valley. Do NOT miss buying a new firearm or outdoor clothes from them. Gonna give this 5 stars because of how understanding the staff was. My grandfather bought me sunglasses that weren't my style & a shirt that wasn't my size. Despite the numerous signs that said no refunds/exchanges, they were kind enough to realize my grandfather was not really qualified to buy me clothes & accessories -- so they let me trade for something that fit my taste & my body! I was quite surprised as the reviews on Yelp hadn't been stellar, but they served me very well and left me a much happier customer than I expected to be. I have bought a rifle and two handguns at Yellow Mart. Mostly I like that it is an old school sporting goods store unlike Sports Authority, etc. Matt is a very knowledgeable gun guy and very helpful in selecting the appropriate gun for your purpose. He mounted and bore-sighted a Leupold scope on my .30-06 and it was three inches off at 100 yards. Excellent work and saved me a lot of expensive ammo in getting it sighted in! I don't mind paying a little more for the good advice and hands-on service. As for the other reviews about Bruce Jernigan, I like him. The staff are fine but the owner has a real attitude problem. As a Canadian I spend 5 months of the year here in Indio. When I asked the owner to please show me a particular revolver he told me that "We don't do business with people from either North or South of the border." It was like the sporting goods store I went to on the east coast as a kid in the 60's that was the one place in town you had to go to buy your school gym clothes. From what I hear, these guys take care of LEO's but for the rest of us, they are over priced and have an attitude that stinks. Rude, dismissive, no help. I wanted to buy one of the Cricket single shot pistols (back before the rules for that got tougher) that is ACTUALLY a single shot, (not a work around model) and they just said "Not in THIS store you won't!" check out the link below. If you are in need of a certain sporting item, chances are you can find it at Yellow Mart. You can avoid going from store to store searching. That is the only reason I gave it at least two stars. The high prices are almost over shadowed by the inventory. Customer service here is a joke. The girls who work up front never know the answer to any question. They usually ignore you, just as everyone else does. There is a middle aged white guy and black guy who are the exceptions. They are usually very helpful. The owner is honestly one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. I can't recall his name, but I know him when I see him. He usually won't even acknowledge your presence. I've had several friends of mine who were ready to purchase their first firearm in cash. They have all walked out. They all have been ignored or just blown off. That goes for other friends shopping for other items as well. I prefer shopping at local shops instead of the big box shops, not Yellowmart though. I only go here when I know what I need can't be easily found at other stores. If you need something sports related and are in a hurry, Yellow Mart is your best bet.
