I love Yellow Mart. I remember working there while I was in High School in the seventies. Most everyone from back then is gone now, but Yellow Mart is still the best place in the valley for western wear, jeans, hats and boots. Lots of variety and a friendly, helpful staff. I had not been there in a very long time (moved out of the area), but when I moved back into town, it was the only place to go for sports equipment and jeans. In a day and age where so much is moving to the sterile environment of the World Wide Web, it's great to see that stores like this are still there and bringing a friendly human touch to the shopping experience. read more

I've been shopping at this store for a long time now. The selection of Dickies and other brands is unreal, and the customer service has always been good. Even when it's pretty busy, the employees seem to get to everyone and help them with their needs. I love Yellow Mart. It's an old fashioned style sporting goods store that has pretty much everything you need. Much better than Big 5s and the other one in the Palm Desert Mall that sounds like Rick's. The unAmerican gun control sporting goods store at the Palm Desert Mall (Dick's) is just for posers, tight workout shirts and overpriced Chinese made tennis shoes, they even did away with their gun section. Thats why Yellow Mart is THE BEST Sporting Goods Store in the Coachella Valley they still have a gun section for lovers of the Second Amendment like me. read more

This is a special place. The grand sense of the past meets the present day wish list for any outdoorsman or lady. I met Mark, who has been serving for over 30 years. We had a grand conversation about generational change, and how YM does it's best to embrace it while refusing to fall prey to its flash. Old brands like Coleman, Pendleton surround you, Boots, firearms, hunting gear abounds. And there is an entire wig that serves youth sports. Well done. Yellow Mart may a competitor of sorts but I don't look at it that way. We specialize in different things and when it comes to accessories and a tremendous selection of shooting gear, reloading supplies and clothing, Yellow Mart is the place I recommend my customers go for things I don't carry. The staff is terrific and the store has a huge selection of things I like to buy. It's only about ten miles from my store and I am their newest regular customer. read more

I travel 50 miles one way to shop at this store. The customer service is excellent. The wealth of knowledge from staff is very handy when I have questions about items I want to purchase. Have loved yellow mart in the past. Well, pre-covid I guess. Walked in today to make a large purchase when it dawned on me NO ONE who worked there was wearing a mask! Just chatting away with customers, some also without masks, up close. Could not believe it and got out fast. My Granddaughters play Varsity Soccer at Palm Desert High School. We went to order their varsity jackets. The staff was extremely pleasant and attentive. Belia was the first to help us order one jacket and help set up the lettering and patches for the other. She was very helpful and really cared about getting what we wanted. Francis helped us with the 2nd one when it came in she also was very knowledgeable pleasant and paid attention to what we wanted. They even called me on Christmas Eve to let me know that the second jacket came in in case it was a Christmas present. They always called me to keep me informed. Just had one of the best shopping experiences I've had in so long. I went with my sons to look for cleats for football and Ryan helped us. He was so kind and patient. He made us feel welcomed and answered so many of our questions since this was our first time buying cleats and he was well experienced in playing football. What brought me to the store were the skateboards in the window. I thought it was a skateboard shop. I walked in and my mind was blown away. This store is AWESOME! Literally has just about everything from shoes, to clothes, guns, ammo, camping gear and much much more. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Great customer service is hard to come by, but not here. It's within every staff member! I came in just to look at the skateboards, didn't even look at them because I was glued to the grunt style and Ben Davis shirts. Ended up purchasing ammo too! Wow talk about hook line and sinker. They have fishing equipment and bait! This was to me so far Indios best hidden gem! I had no idea this store has been around for 75 years! Seriously stop by and you will not be disappointed, a little bit of caution though, you will want to spend. I'm going back on Thursday. read more

Yellow Mart is a true gem in the bastion of old style stores. I have been in the store multiple times for different things. There are no "salespeople", so you aren't hounded the minute you enter. You get to browse around and take your time. When I had questions, I asked. I dislike shopping in stores where salespeople are all over you and telling you how much they like something you have in your hand. Simply put Yellow Mart lets you shop. YAY!! ALL employees (and they are diverse) have been KIND and helpful. This is a family business and they have been employing East Valley folks for 40+ years. Kindness and love always win! read more

All the negative reviews were by scared little b!tchz who were angry that YM believes in civil rights and doesn't mandate masks. If you're that scared of getting sick stay home. I must say this. I don't write many reviews. But, I was super impressed by the calm and collected nature of every employee in this store today. Many people in line for guns and ammunition. With all of the uncertainty and panic in the world right now. I felt welcomed and supported and this in turn helped make the clientele all follow suit. I didn't hear anyone complain about the long wait, act irritated, make comments etc. which we all know, unfortunately, would be the case in many places. These men and women are working 12 hour shifts, and still keeping a great attitude. The prices were fair and not gouging, which they could have done. The staff was awesome, all of them , and everyone kept a safe distance in the store. I was in the store twice today. And between the two visits , was there for a few hours because a friend was making his first gun purchase and had questions and wanted me there. I suggested yellow mart over another store in the area as I've always been happy with this local business. We are both happy he decided to come there as he was already in line at the other store. Great job all of you. Super impressed. Definitely wIll come back soon and recommend you guys. read more

High priced and will not accept manufacturer coupons on any items. They say that because they are a private store they do not have to honor coupons. They are listed as a participating store but do not participate in couponing???? Best to use them for fitting a product then order it online. read more

I have been shopping here for about 10 years buying a few things each year, on Thursday I noticed a dusty Fenwick (CHINA) rod clearly but faded mark saying $19.99 I went to front to pay for it and the clerk rang it up as $79.99. I of course passed on this and suggested that it should be properly labelled . The clerk agreed then added curtly added OR MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR EYES CHECKED.
