Lots of folks stopping here. Also a visitor's center, civic center, hotel and restaurant. The visitors center had the history of Yellowstone and photos of animals in the area. We saw a mama elk and young feeding in the grass. We got some snacks and stood in a long queue to pay. The wait was not bad. We enjoyed our snacks with other visitors on a bench outside. read more

We stopped by here as it was a hot day and we saw the Ice-Cream sign outside the store .Even though the store has a lot of other stuff to offer but the ice cream corner had the most number of customers .Moose tracks, Buffalo chips, and Huckleberry were the most popular and the portion sizes were generous .They also had a big selection of souvenirs , Jams , wines , camping and hiking gear ,pottery ,clothes ,jewelry etc. . 5 stars for the ice cream, custom made at a Montana Wilcoxson's dairy. Moose tracks, Buffalo chips, and Huckleberry are all unique and fantastic especially on a hot day. They also have a General store surrounding the little ice cream stand but that is what 75% of the people were there for. read more

This is generally a store. Yellowstone isn't the best place for shopping. It's a good place for getting out in the wilderness, seeing some elk, and getting back to nature. This is not the best place to go bargain hunting. There are scant bargains to be found in this general store. The store is mostly souvenirs, gifts, and things you'll never need again, stamped with "Yellowstone" or with a bear printed on it. A lot of the things are made and printed in China, shipped here. You can get the same gifts outside the park for a fraction of the price. I'm not sure who's profiting so much off of the ridiculous prices, but I'm pretty sure it's not all just the parks system. This place is wooden all over- like a big log cabin. It has a series of coolers in the back with ice cream and cold Cokes. They mostly sell clothing gifts emblazoned with a picture of something scenic in the park. When I went, the staff was taking their sweet, sweet time ringing things up. They were like the bison on the road to get here. Take their time, don't care if they're holding up the line, oblivious to the desires and needs of the travelers. Parking was easy, but the handicapped entrance is on the other side of the building from the handicapped parking. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I don't know how many people showed up about 4 PM ish when we were inside shopping and all of a sudden it was announced by a woman worker there that in 15 minutes they were closing and that we needed to leave!! This was a SATURDAY!! My God people are you saying you don't need our business? A lot of us like ourselves , traveled all the way from West Yellowstone or further to see Mammoth and make a quick stop in this store for a snack drink or souvenir ,for them to close within 15 minutes (4:15pm) and everybody's running around in a mad rush trying to grab stuff quickly and pay!! On top of all that a young female clerk cashing out our purchases frantically added a small flat bag containing a embroidered patch costing $10 we did not want nor add to our purchases and we didn't realize it was in our bag of purchases until we were all kicked out and us on our way back to West Yellowstone. You will never get my business again!!! read more

Well, if you're staying in the village or traveling through on your way elsewhere, or, if you waited until the last minute and now have to pick up gifts before you exit the park, there are the Yellowstone General stores and this one in Mammoth Hot Springs is the last one on your way back to Gardiner. It's an okay store, exactly what you'd expect for a convenience store, but a lot bigger. There are the usual gift items: hats, t-shirts, toys; but also groceries, and camping supplies and limited hiking gear; and for those hot summer days: ice cream. There's a small and limited lunch menu, too; but it's not really a place to linger for any length of time. read more

After driving from the west entrance it was nice to stop and get some supply's and ice cream the huckleberry is really good. They have a nice selection from food to clothing plus you can look out the door and see elk wondering around. Nice selection of beverages too read more

After taking in the beautiful Mammoth Hot Springs terrace, the first thing you'll want to do is cool down. This general store has it all but probably their most popular area is the center of the store which is a makeshift ice cream parlor. This was such a sight for sore eyes because I can barely go a few days without having ice cream. Their scoops are heaping and generous and my double scoop of mint chocolate chip and butterscotch was enough for 2 possibly 3 if you're in a sharing mood. Plus, after you get your ice cream, you can walk around their historic town which has elk just walking around like they're locals here. Very cool, the ice cream and the town with the elk citizens. read more

This is the last one in Mammoth Hot Springs just before you go on the way back to Gardiner. Good to get your last minute souvenirs, but not as flashy store as other General Stores. Souvenirs are pricey, but that is what you should expect. You can kill your hunger with a variety of snacks and if you are into ice cream, they also have in store. read more

There is 2 main stores here for the Ole Faithful shops. This main one is by the parking lot. They have a bathroom and also a little food area with ice cream. Some things are affordable, but of course being a tourist giftshop, most things are pretty pricey. For 1.75 ounces of wild animal meat such as elk or buffalo, it is $14.49. read more

What a lovely place to stop for a large variety of snacks and delicious ice cream. I'm not a huge ice cream fan, I prefer gelato (and even then I'm really picky). The lemon custard was exceptional. The store is clean, well staffed with friendly (but not over the top) employees to seem to genuinely love their jobs. There is a cooler of sandwiches with decent bread. A few gluten free options and a large variety of elk, bison, and regular beef jerky, and many packaged snack items. The well-stocked convenience store has many items for campers and travelers The souvenir gifts are nicer than most we've seen in the area. Great selection of mugs, glassware, and kitchen decor. Quite a few huckleberry food products, if that's your thing. This store was a welcomed stop after walking around the hot springs. Wonderful ice cream and helpful staff. Definitely recommend stopping in. read more

In the shoulder season before winter closure, this general store is one of few open in the park, but DO NOT GET ANY OF THE SANDWICHES HERE. Normally we would have been more the stop-for-ice-cream types, but it was close to dinnertime, so we needed some "real" food. In fairness to the store, it was the end of the day (around 5pm), but in fairness to us, those sandwiches did not just taste like they had been around all day -- more like multiple days. My chicken salad sandwich was not only soggy and super weird tasting, it actually had mold on the bread. I did not taste their ice cream (I wish I had instead), but I would challenge anyone working there to taste one of their overpriced sandwiches and still sell them with a straight face. Just don't want anyone else's exquisite drive through the park being ruined like mine was after I ate that sandwich. read more
