Beware of inappropriate movie previews! We took our young kids to see the Yellowstone movie and ended up being shown previews for Dune: Part II, the latest Hunger Games, and A Haunting in Venice. All really intense music with war, fighting to the death, witchcraft, seance and murder. Then to top if off -- a woman screaming in horror at the top of her lungs. My poor kids sat there scared and covering their eyes and ears the best they could. I tried to get them to leave but they were frozen in fear in their seats. We were unaware there would be previews at all - let alone THESE! Surely, other previews that are more appropriate for all ages exist. I was so mad I got up and complained. The employee said he couldn't stop or skip it. Saying, "Well, it's PG13." To which I asked him what the movie was rated because I thought maybe we were accidentally at the wrong showing. Nope, he said PG. Exactly my point! Not OK to have adult previews at a PG movie! He said he'd "tell the owners". I'm writing this review to warn other families to ask ahead about previews -- as I don't know if anything will change. read more

[843] Reading the negative reviews I notice they were reviewing the movie and not the actual theater. We visited this IMAX theater as they were showing Aquaman (new release). The lobby is a gift shop with a ton of cool items.. I plan to go back and pick up some gifts. The concession stand is small but has all that is needed for a movie. Plus the popcorn price was reasonable. There is no Fandango here or online ticket ordering. That did not end up mattering as this IMAX theater had a ton of seats (see my pic). This one movie room (I believe it only has one) is clean with comfortable seats. The staff is friendly. We walked but not sure if it had enough parking or the theater was packed We will be back to see the Yellowstone movie although I read it was boring. We have free tickets :) read more

Only theater in west Yellowstone. They also show regular movies nightly at 7pm. Only one theater but lots of seating. I would recommend upgrading to the premium seating. The seats are larger and more comfortable but they don't recline. They also have soft serve at their concessions which I really enjoyed. read more

Disappointing. We took our kids to see the Yellowstone IMAX. The previews were beyond inappropriate for children. When we complained, the employee said "I can't do anything about it, but I'll tell the owner." Then the Yellowstone iMAX film is pretty pathetic. We were sadly disappointed in our experience. Since most travelers will be going here to see the YELLOWSTONE movie, my review focuses not only on the theater itself but on the movie. Please know going in that this movie is from 1994. You will not be impressed by the effects or the video quality. It is not really an IMAX theater and although similar, it is not the same as today's IMAX films. I was hoping to learn about the park itself (more documentary style) but it was just a little bit of history with lots of scenery and Hollywood bear footage. I'm not saying it's not worth seeing, but know what you're getting into. The theater is very nice and the people who work there are friendly. We paid $11 per person to see the movie. We did not opt for the upgrade, which is the same kind of seating but higher up in the theater and with popcorn. The theater is surrounded by a very large, very nice gift shop. read more

I visited here everyday, as having a $.50 cone with huckleberry ice cream. Great price and great ice cream. I love huckleberry! I didn't see any movie, but shopped the gift shop and bought popcorn as well. This was the only theater open since the Carina Virus crap. Definitely was the perfect place to relax after a long day in Yellowstone. My husband and I came here to check out an Imax film before heading out of town. This place is also a store full of Yellowstone souvenirs and anything else you can think of to remind you of the place. We bought tickets for "Alaska" and "Yellowstone". They have a special going that you can see two movies for $13 so we opted for that. The price for one was $9. The guy selling us the tickets was super outgoing and friendly and that was nice. I am use to rude movie ticket people back home. He gave us a few suggestions for the area after the movies as well. Theater is nice and not a super huge IMAX theater like I have been to in Vegas but it was nice and air conditioned. I highly recommend seeing "Alaska"...."Yellowstone" was a big snore fest and not as enjoyable. read more

This IMAX theater is quite nice & the popcorn is great! However, the Yellowstone movie was terrible. Could've been so much better. Nobody in the theater, all maybe 15 of us, could see NOT the reasoning for charging more for select seating. The seats were all about equal & very mice. No need to pay $4 more, we would've been very upset if we had. Seems like a bit of a scam on tourists. The view is better toward the mid section up higher. I came here after spending two days hiking in Yellowstone National Park. In the lobby, there are actual props and costumes used in the Yellowstone film. An usher walked past us and told the crowd, "If someone remembers all the names of the props used in the Yellowstone film, you will receive a prize." The film itself was three quarters acting and one quarter documentary without actors. The grizzly bear in the film was not wild and it wasn't from Yellowstone. If you you've seen some major Hollywood films, you would probably have recognized the grizzly bear. The actual Yellowstone scenery shown in the movie was amazing. I saw different seasons in Yellowstone. I loved the scene which involved the boats on Yellowstone River. After watching the film, I left the theatre and there was no prize opportunity. I believe it was only a joke to attract more people to watch the film. It's better to watch National Geographic or hike Yellowstone if you want to see or learn about the real wildlife in Yellowstone. read more

It seems reasonable to me to expect that an IMAX movie about Yellowstone would be family friendly. I was horrified to have my young children in the theater to listen to the James Bond preview in surround sound as I blocked their eyes from the violence happening on the massive screen. I desperately tried to talk over the several minutes of what seemed like hundreds of rounds of ammunition, multiple vivid car crashes, and other wildly inappropriate scenes for my 7 and 8 year olds to witness. I take responsibility for not asking in advance, but it seems crazy that anyone would think that was a good idea. As far as the Yellowstone movie itself, it was ok but a little disappointing. They have such an amazing opportunity to have a great movie at an IMAX at the entrance of Yellowstone, and it was subpar unfortunately. In addition, they said it was "cold as hell," which again, seems slightly inappropriate and unnecessary for the expected audience. We spent six days touring Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Think BIG...as in expansive, if plan to visit this area. We saw a LOT, and we were tired. On our last night here, we came to this theater. Friendly folks, which is all we encountered anywhere in Montana/Wyoming. We saw "Yellowstone". It was super short (maybe 45 minutes) and I actually felt as though I was flying in some scenes, that were obviously shot with a helicopter. Nice! We bought two coats and I asked if he could recommend a restaurant and he said there's a whole bunch of them down the street. Dont miss the IMAX movies if you are in the area to go to Yellowstone National Park. We saw them back to back, they are about 40 min long with 15- 20 min breaks between shows. Enjoyed every one of the 3 movies! Nice gift shop and a ice cream corner to enjoy between movies! read more

Terrible experience. Employees are rude, and the place is a mess. We bought tickets to one of their showings. It was 10 minutes until the showing time, and we decided to sit down. We went to the theater, and three of the workers mumbled quietly how we shouldn't be there already. Which is fine, if they weren't ready to let us in, that is totally up to them, however their communication skills were not clear. Altogether, this place has rude employees with little communication skills, and the place is hard to get around since it is such a mess, and the theater is even harder to find in this building. read more

Been there a few times but wont go back. A little overpriced. Patrons constantly cutting in line. You pay the extra money for the "special" seats but with all the line cutting you get stuck with a crappy seat. The guy who runs concessions named Martin was a real grump.
