Madison Crossing Lounge - Elk Ossobuco. Fall off the bone. Be sure get the marrow from the bone and put it on the elk. Paired wine went well with it. 5/5.

I arrived around 7 PM and grabbed a seat at the bar since I was dining solo. The restaurant was busy, but the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. For dinner, I ordered the Chicken Prosciutto Pasta with a side of bread. The pasta was outstanding -- easily one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. The combination of braised chicken, prosciutto, mushrooms, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, and creamy parmesan-mascarpone sauce came together perfectly. Every bite was flavorful, rich, and satisfying without feeling heavy or dry. As someone preparing for a half marathon the next morning, it was the perfect carb-loading meal. I also ordered the Huckleberry Sundae for dessert. If you're visiting the Yellowstone area, do yourself a favor and try something with huckleberries. The ice cream, topping, and whipped cream were fantastic, and it ended up being one of my favorite desserts from the trip. One unexpected bonus was getting to chat with other travelers at the bar, including another runner who was also working toward completing a half marathon in all 50 states. It added to the friendly, welcoming feel of the place. Overall, Madison Crossing Lounge delivered excellent food, a great atmosphere, and a memorable dining experience. I don't hand out many five-star reviews, but this one earned it. If I'm back in West Yellowstone for another race or a visit to Yellowstone National Park, I'll absolutely be returning. You don't have to be dressy or childless, but the menu and ambiance are ever slightly more grown-up than other options. Prices reflect that while still being reasonable. Standard salads were refreshing start to unwind after crowds at Yellowstone. Excellently buttered and pan-seared trout with grilled asparagus and sauteed snap peas were wonderful. Timing is everything. Try to arrive before 6pm to avoid the queue. (Restaurant opens at 5pm; moderate sized dining room.) The (Montana-sized portion of) huckleberry ice cream seemed popular with many diners.

There's a steady flow of people in and out.. mostly women but a few couples. Nice areas for lounging with a group or just sitting and chatting quietly with a friend. We were going to just pop in for one drink but then our daughter's boyfriend joined us after work and we stuck around for trivia. Bartender was very skilled and everybody was friendly. It's off the beaten path but worth it and there's lots of things to do around that shopping center so you could spend a day

Spacious couches and lounge areas mixed with bar seating and smaller high top tables makes this a great spot for groups big or small. Can't imagine any circumstance where a party wouldn't feel welcome here or appreciate the layout. Service was great - all the bartenders dress "on brand" and able to make suggestions while ensuring our drinks stayed as full as we wanted them too (but also totally good with us just being low key) Pro tip: They allegedly have the best grilled cheese and tomato soup in Bozeman, so guess I'll have to go back for that. One downside? They need to change their name! I can NEVER remember it and neither can my friends. Makes it less memorable in a spot that would otherwise be high on the list!

Old Saloon was closed for the first half of the week we were there (along with all the other food options) but we managed to pop in Wednesday night after a long, exhausting day. We found half of the dining area was closed so there were only about 6 tables available, plus bar seating (we had 8 people). Service was ok, but we did have to ask for refills each time we needed one and for sugar when it was forgotten. The menu was super limited (different than what their online menu showed which was disappointing because we went for certain things and none ended up being on the menu) and really expensive for what we had to choose from (ex. $4 to add jalapeño and $4 to add bacon to a burger- insane). The food was not great. I got the Big Sky (grilled chicken sandwich with bacon) and it was dry/overcooked. Asked for it with the ranch on the side (I don't like ranch) and it was put on it and on the side. Sweet potato fries were all stuck together and just not great. Overall, maybe we caught them on a bad day, but it was the worst stop we had on our trip. We got food, we ate, it did the truck, but it was over priced and just meh.
