Located in a cute little area of town that's filled with local eateries and shops. Metered street parking costs about a dollar an hour. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The exterior and interior appearance could use some updating. Both were drab compared to other Japanese bistros I've been too. The back part of the restaurant looks to be used more as storage[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. No alcohol here (bummer, no Mai Thais) but the waitress did mention it's BYOB. The pricing on the food was quite reasonable. My steak bento box was around $22 and that included : miso soup, steak teriyaki, white rice, 3 gyoza, veggie tempura and California rolls. The food was delicious and came up fast. I'd recommend coming here based on the food alone. The waitress was also helpful with some local navigating, as I'm not from NJ.

My friend recommended this place for a good meal before we hopped to our next venue. The place was nice, spacious and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They knew my friend, since he was a regular. The food was good. My wife had the Bulgogi Bento, I had the Bimbimbap Bowl. Our friends had sushi rolls. My only complaint is that they could have added more beef to the Bimbimbap. Everything thing else was great. Do visit this place. It's worth it.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Staff was very friendly and made great ambiance[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was very fresh and tasty My only negative was that I was clearly on a date and said no rush but they brought the food out very fast Great spot for a fresh quick meal

Back again at yellowtail. This place does not disappoint. The service is spectacular. The food is always fresh and it's a byob so what more can you ask for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place fitted with small tables and booths.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great for any occasion or just dinner on a Tuesday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Our server was Elle... she was uber friendly, polite, patient, and helpful. She made the entire dinning experience amazing. Her enthusiasm and positive energy truly set the bar for servers all over from now on. She alone deserves 5 stars. The sushi was great, came on a boat and Elle show us which each roll was so we weren't lost. For dessert we asked her opinion and she gave both a safe option and the different option. She made sure that we were always hydrated.

Had the best time here. Ordered takeout for my future mother in laws birthday - everyone raved about it. It was fresh and delicious. Enjoyed it so much, I returned back a few days later to dine in with a co worker. Loved all the rolls and will be back again!

So happy to have been invited to celebrate Chinese New Year here. It was a good sized gathering of about 25 people. The owners, Bin and Joanne, were very gracious hosts. There was one very large communal table for us to enjoy the feast that was presented. I couldn't list everything we had but some of the highlights were King Crab, lobster, plenty of sushi and sashimi and frog legs( yes they taste just like chicken- tender, ridiculously garlicky chicken) I've been coming here for years and with good reason. The food is great, the ambience is casual and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, especially Atlas. Thanks for having me- Happy New Year!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great sushi spot for a date night although I did think the lights were a little too bright for nighttime dining.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with the pork gyozas for appetizer and loved the fact that it is deep fried and not steamed. Great to have that little crunch! The mushroom miso soup was tasty as well, perfect starter before sushi. We ordered special rolls (salmon monster & double crunch) and spicy salmon and a california roll. Service here is fantastic and the rolls are on point. I just wish they had a little more variety for dessert.

Needed a new sushi spot and I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Came in on a Sunday night without reservations and were seated right away. Everything was very good. We ordered the tempura platter as an appetizer which came with w pieces of shrimp, a sweet potato, a zucchini, an onion ring and a carrot. We had few specialty rolls (#36, #1, #6). I appreciated they had pictures next to their specialty rolls. My only gripe was that the fish on one of the rolls was really cold. We also ordered sashimi. The fatty tuna and salmon were actually my favorites. They only have bottled water for purchase so we just ended up getting green tea which was at no cost. For dessert we had matcha mochi and vanilla fried ice cream which was a perfect way to end the meal.

Miso glazed salmon? Looks more like soup, the "sauce" was sweet and oniony. Not good.

I love yellowtail and I always recommend it to all my friends and they have in return told me how good it is there. But I just needed to talk about this salmon dish and how bad it was. The is under entrees, miso glazed salmon. There was nothing miso glazed about it. It was 2 dry, small pieces of overcooked salmon in a sweet oniony broth. Once I drained the "sauce" I found a ton of sliced onions, shredded carrots and mushrooms underneath, broccoli and scallops on the side. Mind you, I asked the girl if it came with anything and she said no so I ordered a $2 side of veggies. What I got were the same veggies in the actual dish, on the side, with no seasoning or sauce. This was so so disappointing, I will stick to only sushi here from now on.

Crispy spicy tuna, sushi deluxe, Alaska roll
    Mel T.

Ordered for pick up on a Sunday evening. Everything was ready when they said it would be. We ordered the crispy tuna rice, sushi deluxe (11 pcs of sushi, spicy tuna roll), and an Alaska roll. I always get crispy rice when I see it on a menu because I don't see it often. It was good overall but a bit too much sauce because they also added eel sauce. They also added spicy Mayo on top of the spicy tuna, which again - just made it too saucy. Everything else was great though. The Alaska roll was pretty sizeable - filled with ingredients but not too much rice. The sushi pieces also had the right amount of fish to rice ratio. I would order from here again but I would avoid anything with the sauces and if I get a spicy roll, I'll ask them to hold the spicy Mayo drizzle. I saw they also have reasonably priced party platters, so it seems like it would be a good place to order from if you have a crowd.

Spicy tuna Tar Tar - it was really good
    Mylene T.

So I haven't been here since the grand opening. Food is decent. Pros: - They take reservations - Service was very friendly - Spicy tuna tar tar was delicious and I ate the entire thing by myself which is the reason I didn't get an entree lol Cons: - Miso soup was salty - Tiger roll was ok - Street parking We were a group of 8 and everyone looked like they were enjoying their dishes. I'll come back again to try out the other rolls and entrees.

We tried the following: Chicken Karaage Bao $12 - Very good +!! Crispy chicken and fresh pillowy bao Pork Rice Bowl $12 - disappointing. Very dry and off putting smell and taste of pork. Duck Dynasty Dumplings $12 - Ok. Dumpling wrapper excellent , filling very dry and again off-putting taste. I like duck, but I should have went with the regular pork mix. Barely any sauce as well to dip. Signature Tonkatsu Ramen $20 - Good! Best part was the egg! I've had better ramen elsewhere. For $20 I expected more flavor and fillings. You can definitely customize and add, but at this price point I would rather have had base start at $24 and include wood ears, more veggies, bamboo, etc. Mine was basically the fat part of pork slices with 20% meat, one veggie, whole egg (which definitely was excellent), and a good broth. Thin ramen on this one, but again I've had much better broth, noodles and fillings. Burnt Honey Calamansi Tea $8- very good for about 12-14oz, but expensive. I understand Calamansi is not typical here in north Jersey and I'm certain they pay higher pricing wholesale, but it wasn't that superb to pay $8 for again. I really teetered with this review for days as I wanted to give 4 stars for local support and the chef's passion, but I simply won't pretend we loved this. Might try 10 for $10 dumpling Thursday with the pork filling one day.

I got some porky buns and the Ube sesame ramen. The bao buns were super soft, filled with tender pork and pickles that added a nice texture and acid to balance the fattiness of the pork ! Then comes a super unique blend of Filipino-japanese ramen. The fried thighs on top might have been some of the best fried chicken I have had in a while! The Ube sesame noodles were unlike anything I have had, slightly sweet, earthy, with a great chew. Overall 2 great dishes and I am excited to see what the future holds for Tenmomi!

This place is definitely worth a visit. The udon had a nice chew, the beef was tender, and the bok choy still had a bit of crunch, which I really enjoyed. The scallion pancake was soft on the inside with a nice crispy texture, and the sauce paired really well with the dish. The pepper steak was another highlight--it wasn't overcooked, and the meat was tender with a slightly crispy exterior. The flavors really popped with every bite! The dumplings were just okay in my opinion, and the plum tea was a little too sweet for my taste. The restaurant itself is very spacious, with a nice and inviting interior. I also thought the call button at the table was a convenient touch--it made it easy to get the staff's attention when we were ready to order. Overall, we had a great experience and are happy we finally stopped in after passing by this place for so long!
