I passed this place more than a handful of times and I figured it's about time to give it a try. What threw me off were the tinted windows but when you go in it's quite quaint. They have seating by the sushi station. Staff were nice and quick with my order. I was in the mood for sushi and they did not fail. Food was amazing and presentation beautiful. Crispy rice was so good and so were the rolls. They were out of spring rolls and that was a disappointment, hope they replenish soon. I'd def come back with the whole family to enjoy more of the menu items. read more

Ran into this place because my previous favorite spot burned down and was not sure where to go to. Pete does an amazing job and the vibes here on rainy days are 100/10. The sweet potato roll was HOT. The freshness and warmness of this role are unmatched by any other place I've ordered them at. Romi-Romi roll (middle)...enough said. But this last roll with the jalapeño on top... I asked him to surprise me with a roll and I can't even tell you know much I dream about it. Ok, I love sushi...I've eaten sushi in NY, Japan, Hawaii...all different styles, but all great places to eat Sushi. Maki Sushi in Hasbrouck Heights can be added to this list. It's true. No, it's not Omakase in Japan, or the tropical flavors of Hawaii. But this is great sushi, fresh fresh, ample, delicious. Rolls are creative, properly riced with generous portions of fish. The fish/rice ratio let's the star of the dish shine. Many places full you with rice, not here. For those of us who like Sashimi and Nigiri the fish is excellent....the Hamachi has that briny richness, the salmon tasty and fresh off the bone. The tuna deep bright red...no pre cut pink tuna..tuna should be red to burgandy..not pink. Maki Sushi is now my reference standard. The only places that are better are 3x tge price. read more

We love this place! My husband and I are sushi snobs and are so glad we discovered this spot. The sushi rolls are extremely fresh and we've tried a bunch of them. The boulevard, mango tango, and the torched rolls are our favorites! We also love going there in person because it's a cute, small spot and it's byob so it's a nice easy spot on Boulevard to hang out and people watch. I do wish they had outdoor seating like some other spots on Boulevard but that's ok! Service is always quick and the people running it are really nice as well. If you're going to order for pickup, call it in because ordering through any of the apps is way more expensive. Super reasonable pricing when you dine in or call in for pick up. read more

what can I say aside from, "this is the only place we have sushi from in a 10 mile radius!!!! . Pete and Eugene are the greatest!!! BOH hands are nothing but the best!!! My daughter started eating sushi a few years ago, and since then she has been the pickiest of eaters, easily turned off by a min of 8/10 places she's had a chance to eat at! This is my new favorite sushi place in New Jersey. I'm an OG NYC sushi guy who started in the 1970s. I've found most places in NJ to be OK but not particularly creative or genuine. Upon seeing the menu here, I was really excited. So many of the rolls and nigiri are unique and original. The fish was super fresh and the presentation was spectacular. Yet the prices are quite reasonable. This is a family run restaurant and the chef is very proud of what he does. The place was pretty empty when I went and we were able to talk about all the fish types that he can't keep in stock because the Bergen County palate doesn't favor toro, chutoro, uni and quails egg. Bummer. Hopefully more sushi diehards will discover this gem and he can start keeping the "good stuff" in stock again. If you want the real deal, Maki is the place to go. read more

tried this for the first time tonight, must say it's pretty dang good!! we got a bunch of rolls to try, romi romi was great! aswell as the mango tango, they were all really good. got the yaki udon with chicken, a bit pricey for what it was and probably wouldn't get it again ( don't get me wrong- I don't mind spending good money on something if it's really good..) but over all I was very please and will be back, for those special rolls thank you! read more

We ordered the Mexican salmon roll, the yellowtail jalapeño roll, boulevard roll, and crispy rice appetizer. The crispy rice was really tasty, but we wished it had been made with sushi rice instead of regular white rice (if it was actually sushi rice, it just wasn't very seasoned). The Mexican salmon roll was one of - if not the - best fully fried rolls I've tried - it was so crispy!! YJ roll and Boulevard were tasty, and the fish quality was superb, but the roll combinations themselves were nothing crazy good. We really appreciate good fish quality, so we'll definitely return and try some different ones. The place itself is tiny - maybe 6 or 7 tables - and we saw only two people working on food which makes sense for a small place. As such it was very slow service. Also, they give bottled water instead of tap by default, so water is a charge, but it's cheap so that's not terrible. Overall great fish quality and a decent spot with slow service - we'll return to try some more! read more

First time here and decided to check it out, byob, prices are okay and the vibe was nice. the sushi here is really good and taste really fresh i enjoyed it BUT, I noticed the owner when he was making the sushi he was also answering his phone then going back to touching the sushi without changing his gloves... I have already eaten when I saw that i was grossed out.. like I said the sushi was good, menu wasn't to overwhelming, cute tiny sushi spot but SIR, don't forget to change your gloves!
