On the side there was a guy playing the accordion and singing some oldies but goodies and I was enchanted. My friends Mike and Joanne play penochle here and people are just hanging out, having conversations. They have a TV in the corner where you can play movies. I hope they take advantage of that because if I was a senior, I'd be hosting movie nights, talking about the importance of the movie, trivia, and why the movie is worthy of attention. There was a Day of the Dead festival being held here that we saw from flyers around town. We swung by for a quick visit. We were very impressed with the community center with the walking track, swimming pool, conference rooms and other areas for kids to play such as video games and slides. As for the festival itself it was really cool and a fun cultural experience to have this time of the year. Lunch was served and there were dances and performances to honor the concept of the holiday. When I first contacted the Center - I inquired about a date, which had been set, but had to end up rescheduling three times due to last-minute and unexpected scheduling conflicts from one party. However, despite the constant date changes on my end - the staff was super nice and understanding about it. They were not bothered at all by the rescheduling of their facility and made it clear they were just happy to help. When I arrived to the meeting space, I realized that it was located in Les Gove Park, which is located right in downtown Auburn. Having the Auburn Community & Event Center central to the city and in a popular park makes it more attractive for the public to utilize this space. The building is also new and modern with a ton of parking in their lot. They have multiple community rooms that they offer to the public to rent out - and also have several city and community events that occur here, in addition to the teen center. If you're looking for a space to use in Auburn, the Auburn Community & Events Center provides a great venue. It's easy to find, central to the city, and the building is spacious, bright and new.

I stood in front of the help window about a foot from the employee who appeared to be staffing the window. She ignored me entirely, paying less attention to me than she would a bug. When this had gone on for some time, I rang the bell that's there to summon an employee for help and asked for a menu. She told me in a rude tone there weren't any in the office. I didn't believe her because there are almost always some in the back or they print one off the computer. She evenutally said she might be able to print one later but she was in the middle of a meeting. I said she didn't look like she was in a meeting but looked like she was there to help people. As I walked off she called out "Sorry" in a snotty, sarcastic tone of voice." This was about 10:00 on Fri, Nov 7. I would respectfully suggest that putting someone who is arrogant, sarcastic and demeaning at the help window doesn't give the community center a good look. I would also respectfully suggest that menus be put out on the table where they used to be so people can help themselves. I gave them 2 stars because some employees do a better job.

There is a day use fee but they offer punch cards for regular use. The gym is huge. Has upper seating area. It is 3 basketball courts they place baby gates between for multiple classes. Jazzercise is going on at one end while my daughter has volleyball at the other end. The coach struggles to talk over the music of that other class. It is carpeted as well. They have lots of kid classes available here. And there are some classroom areas, so things like Tai Chi can happen in a less loud environment, but it's not perfect. There is a walking track around the gym upstairs but it costs to walk ....$3. I like this place b/c they offer classes my kids want to try. Younger kids have plenty of sports leagues to enjoy. They have a gym and you can get a good workout here without joining a gym elsewhere. It's nice when the community center is clean and offers a lot. We enjoy utilizing this place. They do not charge extra for non city residents like most of the cities around here.

The parking lot was large and partially full, but we still found a space without having to circle for a spot to open up. Re-visiting yesterday Wednesday 2 August 2023, the parking lot was still large and the building approximately the same on the exterior.

The parking lot was huge and surrounded by tall trees. The shade is great on hot summer days. There is a big play area in the grove of trees behind the community center. You walk through an art-filled garden to get to the door of the community center. Upon entering, there is a bronze statue of books right in front of you. Pretty cool! Off to the left is a kids area where they have Tot Time and story time for kids (there is a small charge to attend). Off to the right is a desk with a receptionist. The dance class is in a large room with mirrors on one of the walls. Our instructor is a local gentleman in his 50's. Such a wonderful teacher. Only 4 couples signed up for the class, but we have a lot of fun despite small numbers. I am anxious to take more classes at the B.C.C.!
