The center is situated at the edge of the New Holly neighborhood, which primarily consists of housing, but also includes a branch of Seattle Public Library, satellite campus of South Seattle Community College, and other community buildings. The newly renovated and facility re-opened in 2007, more than doubling the size of the old center. The building features lots of windows in the lobby area and multipurpose room. Included in the expansion are new staff offices, interior and exterior public restrooms, activity rooms, and a large dividable multipurpose room with a small adjoining commercial kitchen. The center is surrounded by a landscaped lawn with lots of trees and flowers, a public art installation outside the front entrance, two basketball courts sponsored by the Sonics/Storm Team Foundation, a wading pool, children's play area, a covered picnic area and BBQ grill. The expanded center accommodates activities such as teen programs, classes, after-school programs, community meetings, weddings and seniors programs, a drop-in fitness room, basketball/sports gym, after-school child care, summer day camps and free WiFi access. The building itself is pretty spacious, but you can tell some of the facilities are on the older side. The restroom was out of order during my visit, and overall the space felt a little dated. What really stood out, though, was the staff. I watched three different librarians patiently help someone with a computer issue for almost an hour, which honestly says a lot about how dedicated and kind they are. Even with the older interior, the service here makes this library a solid community spot.

There's a little garage with some parking space but could fairly be a little tight. There's a flight of stairs that you will need to walk up to get to the library entrance or elevator available, if needed. I would say that this library is not as quiet as other libraries I've been to. You know how when you enter a library and it's super quiet that even a whisper sound loud? Well, not gonna find that here if you're looking for complete silence. No library voices in here. There's plenty of windows so there'a a lot of natural lights available. I would totally recommend here.

I'm not a fan of parking garages. The library itself is spacious and very open. The high ceilings and bright natural lights greet you as you walk through the door. There are plenty of rooms for studying/conferences. The librarian is so helpful. There isn't enough self checkout computers. Also, they close early on the weekdays (I think 5pm). Bummed that they don't have handy little paper/pencils to jot the codes (location) down near the lib catalogs. My old dementia brain can't remember anything. Pro tip: if you need a particular book, it's better just to put it on hold. Said that it was available but couldn't find it.

I have to say, the staff at this library set the bar HIGH for KCLS - engaging my children (even the shy one glued to my leg) in what they like to read, finding books for them that they haven't read before but match some of their interests and validating their opinions about the books they were reading. They also ran a tight ship organizing a popular summer lunch program. On this particular day, there weren't enough bag lunches for the number of people who came - but they scrambled and arranged for more. Wish we lived closer so we could enjoy this beautiful community more!

This place reminds me of premodern climbing gyms before the craze and the streamlined decision…read moremaking of big climbing gyms like SBP. And I love it! From the street it does not look like a retail area. And the parking lot is very steep with even loose gravel at some points. But there are a solid amount of parking and during the afternoon when I arrived there was no problem parking. The gym has a lazertag like feel with very large open areas but obstructed views from the many corners, tunnels, caves, and different wall features. The walls go on quite a bit so there is never a lack of wall shapes and inclines. And of course, who could forget the Rotisserie. A giant rolling log that spins as you climb. The start holds are weighted so they are always on the bottom for you to reach, and the moment you grab on, it starts to turn. As you climb more the momentum starts to build up and it starts to feel like a log rolling competition. It adds a whole new layer of strategy and planning to the climb and it was an absolute pleasure. However I will say, I can climb V5's pretty easy and we had a few climbers in our group who were newish and they couldn't even enjoy a single route on that log. The route quality I would rate as medium since some felt like it was heavily catered to niche body types. But you can tell that the whole gym was made by climbing enthusiasts. There are hidden murals, Exit sign holds, dyno walls, traverse problems, etc. The worst thing about the whole gym is the down climbing rocks. 1, they are some form of sharp plastic and don't feel the least bit safe. 2, they fail to provide adequate foot holds to them so some of them are seriously a joke haha. Downstairs there is a whole separate world of locker rooms, sauna, and cold plunge. They also recently reduced the day pass price so I can't even complain about that! Looking forward to my next visit.

i saw the spinning rotisserie wall climbing gym just opened and i had to see it for myself. the gym…read moreis still very new and in the early stages, still working out some kinks. staff was very friendly, helping us check in for the first time and were very receptive to feedback. the lay out is nice, there's quite a few walls, mostly vertical and overhangs. when we went, routes were pretty tough, even the v0s, and staff were aware and actively working to grade routes differently. also, routes were only color coded by tapes usually under the holds, which can be difficult mid-climb, trying to figure out what holds to use, im not sure if this is how it will be or if they were trialing it. there were also no down climbs, which made coming down the walls a little difficult, but we were told they were adding them soon. the rotisserie wall was a highlight and so fun, and definitely something that makes this place so unique. it was fun to get creative with the spin/gravity + momentum as part of the climb. the gym also has quite a few amenities-- work space, pool tables, locker room, gym, cold plunge, and sauna, which was gorgeous and very relaxing. you do have to bring your own towel to use the sauna, or you can buy at the front desk.
