Our water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. Yes' stickers were on our water heater so we called them. They said that yes, our water heater needed to be replaced but the 6 year guarantee wouldn't apply and our cost would be around $3,600. They left and I called Action Plumbing out of Cedar Lake. They agreed that the water heater needed to be replaced but that is was under the manufacturer's warrenty so it would only cost us $360 for them to install the new water heater. Highly under impressed with Yes plumbing. They are your horrible type plumbers that you charge double the service fee to drive there then gouge you with an estimate to even look around. In my case I had what ended up being a simple fix and they charged $80 just to come out, looked around for a couple minutes then proceeded to tell me it would be $597 to troubleshoot the problem. That's $680 before any repair work would be done. I told him to please leave that is ridiculous. For comparison I called another plumber (Reichelt) that was awesome and came out for $40 and didn't charge anything to troubleshoot the problem. It took him a total of 10 minutes max to figure out the problem. Btw I called Yes plumbing back for an explanation or opportunity to make things right and not charge me the $79 for 5 minutes service call and they said that's for driving out there and the $597 additional is standard diagnostic....and told me I was in the wrong for questioning it . The Dispatcher who is also the Manager did not help at all . So in short don't go to yes - go anywhere else but Yes. For them just say No and go to another plumber that won't rip you off . The plumber is a sales person in disguise. Very good presentation in an attempt to lock up your money into monthly payments to an account that can only be used for plumbing for their service. This, coupled with the outrageous price of over $1900.00 to replace a leaky faucet. When I said no because that is outrageous, he asked what I was expecting? I said less than the entire water heater, including the water heater that I had installed by 4 seasons plumbing!! He prayed on my wifesignorance in this area as well. Needless to say I got it repaired the same day for $230 in about 45 minutes worth of work including a trip to menards to purchase the part that was faulty. They're a business that I'd never recommend and if you ask for an approximate estimate prior to them coming out they tell you they have no clue, yet show up with a company book with all of the estimates. My toilet started leaking and I needed help pretty quickly. I called around and Yes stated they could come out within an hour. I was impressed so I booked an appointment. They came and immediately the gentleman that came began to do a sales pitch about their services, and joining their club to get discount prices. Their prices are very expensive and I believe he wanted to do more than was necessary to complete the job and fix my problem. While I appreciate that they could come out soon I was very upset that the plumber tried to do a sales pitch and get me to join their club and that they were very over priced. I contacted Yes Plumbing who operate in Indiana, to replace a hose for my washing machine. The hose alone might cost $11.00 max from what I have seen at stores. I was charged $600.00 total just to replace a simple hose. The worker produced what they call their "black book" to come up with the cost for labor and installation. I have reason to believe that this business uses this "black book" as a way to rip off their customers. Pricing in the book seemed unusually high. In addition to this cost, I was charged another $600.00 to replace a gasket for a sink. Again, no quote up front. Yes Plumbing then tried to get me to join their club. I refused. I would never hire them again to do any other job. I read the reviews prior to calling Yes Plumbing however, in hindsight I believe that some of these reviews do not at all reflect the work that they do. We had a horrible experience. After our horrible experience the manager came out to explain that their guarantee only applied to future services. So even if we were unhappy with the work already done, we'd have to get more work done to get the discount for the guarantee. They were really nice and knowledgeable up front, but then didn't even use a camera before performing an expensive procedure on a drain we knew was clogged permanently. It felt like they were just trying to tack on service after service. When the tech left on Friday afternoon (with the main job - a pedestal sink install - not finished) he took the rest of the stuff with him. He said it would be safe until Monday when he came back. When one of my daughters almost ended up with the sink on her head because she leaned on it VERY GENTLY my husband took a closer look and realized the work was not done in a way that was safe. If he had told us that we wouldn't have let our children near the sink. Interesting that they were SUPER nice until we had a problem. Then we had the manager yell at us and a customer service rep be snide and snotty on a blog post I wrote expressing my unhappiness. She says we broke the contract, but they got all their money...and I don't have a sink that's done...so really, who broke the contract? One person got what the contract stated and one did not. I'm sorry it took the licensed and bonded plumber an ungodly long time just to put in a pedestal sink, but my husband did the EXACT SAME INSTALL in the front bathroom securely in less than two hours. The plumber spent four doing goodness-knows-what and then had to come back on Monday to finish...leaving the sink in an unsafe state for my kids. And they WONDER why I didn't let them back in. I never wanted to see them again. The best part? Since I wouldn't let them finish the job, they never gave me the rest of my sink parts back. A small thing, but really...who does that? You get fired from a job and get to keep my parts. I've never heard of a job where you can keep stuff after you get fired by a client for putting their kids in potential danger. We recently had a sewer drain clog and based on reviews and a welcome letter and coupon received when we moved in, I decided to call Yes! Plumbing. The gentleman that came was very nice and knowledgeable, he was courteous (with the booties and all), but then we got down to business. He diagnosed our problem, which we know was a sewer clog (due to tree roots). He carefully explained the procedure to remedy the problem along with the costs. The quote was in excess of $1200. His rationale was the fact that they are licenced, bonded, insured, yada, yada, yada. They utilize a 6" rod instead of a 4" rod and included a camera scope to make sure the problem is rectified, and offer an optional root killer application blah, blah, blah. I found the quote to be ridiculous and told him I'd get a few more quotes and call them back. We called Roto Rooter, Aleck Plumbing (local), and Four Brothers Plumbing. ALL of which came in between $250-$350. Giving the same rodding service, optional root killer ($75) and a camera scope ($110) if necessary. I can't figure out where they get off trying to charge $1200 (4x higher than all others) to rod out a sewer pipe. We went with Aleck Plumbing, which is a local Homewood company in business over 20 years. The problem was addressed, we are very satisfied with the service and avoided a highway robbery! read more

I represent a local fitness club here in the Chicagoland area... We had a main sewer back-up, that caused issues in our locker rooms/childcare area. I called YES! Plumbing to take care of the problem. The tech took care of the clog. My issue with them, was their clean-up. It clearly states on the truck " Maid-Like Clean-Up " or your service call is free. The tech left with marks from his rodder on the ceramic tiles in the childcare bathroom, roots from his rodder clearly all over the floor as well. The rod tube he used was thrown onto the carpeted area, as he rodded. Clearly contaminants are all over the rod tube, since it holds the rod.... And this is in a child care area... Ugh! I was not impressed with his so called clean-up. When I contacted management about it, they said that they would return the service charge of $79.00.... But their truck clearly states " service call " False advertising as far as I see it. No need to go back using a company that doesn't stand behind their own advertising.... Never again! read more

I was desperate! My husband noted that the sump pump had gone out. Told me to get a plumber pronto. I found YES! $79 for a service call and $2000 for their cheapest sump installed. We are selling our house and did not need a flood as we are remodeling the basement so we've been conned out of 2g's. My sister's sump pump died a week later and her plumber charged $700. My niece is a plumber in Michigan and her standard rate is $495 including installation and a five year warranty. Granted, I was a fool for not asking what the charge would be before I asked them to come out. Ryan was a very nice guy, came on time, and took care of the problem quickly and answered my husband's questions. No gripe there. End shot is don't call YES! You will be royally rooked. I was on the phone for a half hour and the man I spoke with could not figure out how to schedule an appointment, completely ridiculous! I just told him not to bother I would find someone else and after seeing the other reviews I'm glad I did. If they can't even train their staff to schedule appointments properly I'm afraid of the quality of work they would do on my plumbing. I called Yes Plumbing after having granite countertops installed. I needed some re-piping under my sink to be done and have everything, including the garbage disposal hooked up. The plumber came and wanted to charge me $795.00 just to install the garbage disposal, and I provided the garbage disposal. The total estimate was $2400.00 and the guy who came on site, said it would take 7-8 hours. I knew that was outrageous for the work that needed to be done. They also tried to sell me some service contract. When you call this company and they get out the price book, look out. I have had them in the house twice, each time arriving on-time and very professional. The needed work is explained to them, and then they reach for a book. In the book are all pre-determined "union" hourly rates. You are required to sign before any of the work begins. Even if it takes them 15 mins, but the book told them 45 mins; guess what you have already agreed too? Your charged the 45 mins of time. Your better off negotiating an hourly rate with them, if possible; and keeping the idle chit chat to a minimum. The pricing book is a volume, 200+ pages. And they use it to detail every incidental thing to build up the invoice more and more. Unless it is an emergency, get other prices before signing. I got two other quotes which ranged between $400 and $500. Both other estimate were also provided by licensed bonded plumbers. I have a bad experience with this guy several years ago. When I called them, they asked me about my credit card number to charge around $70, not refundable but credit toward my service bill if service is done. I was surprised that when the guy estimate $600 for a simple kitchen sink clog. The estimate is three times more expensive than other plumber used to charge. They stressed they use a special power electric drainage rodder and special skills for the drainage cleaning job. However, later I figured out that the power electric rodder they used is same as other plumbers. Due to my improperly structured home drainage, my kitchen sink was clogged again in a year after this guys' job as other plumbers did. They fixed the valve on a water-main almost 3 months ago and guess what? IT'S LEAKING AGAIN! I called and told the owner about it and he said he'd send someone out to take a look at the problem but it would cost me $79 bucks to do so. WTF!? I asked him why would they charge me to come to look at a problem that THEY were supposed to had fixed but apparently didn't? I would never, ever and I mean NEVE3R reccomend Yes Plumbing to my worst enemy! For a very, very simple job that I found out later, should have cost about $300 at the most, they charged me $1257.20!!! I am a 77 year old woman with a husband who has alzrimers , so I have to make all decisions. I had no idea at the time the work was done that I was being way over charged! When the worker told me the price I thought that was what anyone would have charged and I had to have it done, so I signed the bill to charge it . After spending tons of money on fly-by-night plumbers I found on craigslist, I called Yes at the recommendation of a friend.
