We just bought two e-bikes and the guys all went above and beyond getting them set up with accessories and fitted. My son bought a bike, rode it for 10 minutes. 2 days later, tried to trade it in for something else. Was only going to give 400 for a 700 dollar bike. We had every intention of trading up, but not losing 300 on a bike we had for 2 days with 10 minutes of ride time. go somewhere else.... was what we were told if we didnt like the deal. This could have been handle better. We were ok with their 20% restocking fee but losing 300. We will keep the bike and make sure everyone knows about our experience. read more

Yester'year Cyclery - Bike Rentals Near Me - New Bedford, Massachusetts

Stopped in here while on a P2P century ride from Natick, MA to visit family in the area. Needed another spare tube (had used mine up) and was hoping to grab a quick Di2 charge in a pinch (forgot to charge my battery before leaving home!). Yesteryear had the oddball tube I needed (longer valve stem) and the shop guys kindly let me use their Di2 charger for no charge. They were also kind enough to refill my water bottles and reset the air pressure in my tire that flatted at no cost. Super helpful and friendly service just for buying a couple of tubes. In a pinch I have also used the shop while visiting in town for random needs due to forgotten stuff at home or unexpected breakdowns/bike issues...patch kits, cold weather booties, chain lube, etc. They have a good selection of bikes and accessories and are worth checking out for the helpfulness alone. While everybody in the store were professional and pleasant, this one is for Mike. I brought my bike in to have the chain and cassette replaced. When it was done I took it for a spin around the store and the gears were grinding. So while one employee was explaining to me that my bicycle probably had that grinding noise before and the bike really needs a tuneup and no, they can't do it now, etc., Mike took the bike outside. By the time I finished paying Mike brought the bike back. He also said it needs a tuneup but he fixed it for now. I was very happy because even if he fixed just one gear combination I could still enjoy biking on my vacation. Guess what? The bike never ran better. He made it run like new. Smooth shifting and no noise. He said that at first he couldn't understand what was going on with the bike but then was able to figure it out. I think it's a great reminder that success comes to those who are willing to try. Thank you Mike for your help, I really appreciate it. And thank you for the wonderful life lesson I was able to share with my kids. read more

Yesteryear is the best bike shop in the area hands down. They always have what I am looking for, and if not they can always get it for me. I have been shopping with them since I bought my GT Mach One in 1994! LOVE ALL THE COOL OLD BIKES HANGING FROM THE CEILING. Don't buy into the negative reviews. Cycling can be an expensive hobby, and just like when you go to pick up your car from the shop, sometimes it's more than you expected. Those are the breaks, labor is expensive, this is America. Personally, I have never had a bad experience. There is a reason why this shop has been open longer than anyone alive today. THEY ARE THE BEST IN THE AREA. You can't beat their knowledge, know how, or selection. All the other shops have opened and closed, yet Yesteryear is still pedaling away. (Yes I have been to the big shops in Boston / NYC, I still prefer this one.) read more

Came in here thinking they sold used bicycles for cheap...unfortunately, nothing really under $200 here. Professional bike stuff. They sell unicycles and do tune ups, too, according to their website. Their sign humors me as well. I'd probably like this more if they had cheaper prices...some of the bikes I'm pretty sure I've seen at Toys R Us for $75-100 less. read more

I am huge fan. They did an awesome job on my vintage road bike, including sourcing some great used parts that are no longer available. In addition to doing some upgrades they fixed my bike after a wreck. Their prices are downright inexpensive. In addition to repairs, I purchase a used road bike for my son. The used bike was $600 cheaper than the equivalent new bike. I have been four or five times and never have had anything but a five star experience. Highly recommended! read more

A local gem! Got my Mom's old bike tuned, and it's like a new bike. We usually rent bikes for a week each summer, and they always help us get outfitted safely with high quality bikes. They rent at the New Bedford ferry dock too. We've taken our bikes to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket for great day trips by new fast ferry, along the Cape Cod Canal and along the coast of Buzzards Bay. There are lots of great places to bike around here with beaches, bike trails and, of course, little ice cream stands. The staff here will give you some ideas, sell you detailed maps, and set you on your way with helmets that fit and brakes that have been tested. The 'deluxe' tune up was totally worth it. My parents are cheap about their bikes, but they get unsafe and break if you don't maintain them. Quality new bikes here are as expensive as elsewhere, but the selection and expert advice here make this a better place to buy. Rentals were reasonable, considering the locks, helmets and great bikes. read more

Gave me an estimate of how much it would be to fix a bike that had been off the road for a few years and when I picked it up they charged me way more than they had estimated...... When I asked why they said it was only an estimate and too bad...was treated very rudely as well...avoid this place at all costs they are frauds read more

I've been here several times and the people working here are always really helpful and informative. They specialized in Giant and Cannondale bikes and the prices are very fair compared to other specialty bike shops. My friend bought a Trek from another place that had a worse frame and components and it ended up costing the same as what I paid for my Gaint. I bought a Giant Defy 3 from here a while back and had some issues with the fit and the guys here took it back and changed the seat and shortened the stem at no charge. They also asked me to bring it back at the end of fall for them to do a complementary tune-up. Not really sure as to why negative reviews are given to this place just because they sell high end bikes, but if you're in the market for a nice bike, this place is my favorite. read more

This is a really excellent bike shop. My boyfriend and I went in this weekend to look at used bikes but ended up with something brand new for him after the sales guys took the time to answer all of our questions and let us test drive whatever bike my BF was interested in. The guys took a look at my own bike (which I had bought somewhere else last year) because I mentioned we were going right from purchasing my BF's bike to the bike path. They wanted to be sure my bike was in working order. That's just one example of how they went way above and beyond with customer service. I like to compare prices to always make sure I'm getting a good deal. While we were there, I googled the bike we intended to purchase and found that REI, a big chain store (not in my location), was about $5.00 less. I feel we got a much better deal with all of the brake and chain adjustments and customized service. Let's face it, much like with cars, you get what you pay for when it comes to bikes. They don't sell cheap bikes at WalMart prices...they sell good bikes for competitive prices. The guys even took the time to adjust my car's bike rack because I had it on wrong. I can't say enough good things about this bike shop. Plus, I'd rather give my money to an independently-owned store than a big chain. Go here to buy a bike...it's totally worth it. read more

I've had my bike tuned up and fixed here twice and I'm also really not sure why all the bad reviews on here. My bike is always fixed in less than 24 hours and always runs like a charm after they are done with it. Yes, sometimes it ends up costing more than what they estimated but if it does, then they call you and tell you what additional part you need and how much it will cost. Then you can decide if you want them to keep going through with the work, and I'd recommend you just listen to them and pay to get the extra work done because they know what they are talking about and what parts you need to get your bike working like a charm again. They only hire people who know their $h!t when it comes to bikes. They are not frauds, they give you an excellent, honest deal at a reasonable price and do quality work on bikes! I will continue bringing my bike here for repairs :) read more

Great experience at Yesteryear. Fast in and out with no annoying sales attempts, just handy advice. Got my bike tuned up and new tubes put in. It looks great, and rode better than ever (I got it used) from my car to my apartment after I picked it up. They quoted me a week for the tune up, but I had a ride in 4 days. Bike was unridableat that point, so I went ahead with it, and they said if they could get it done faster they would. They managed to pull it off in 3 days! Ride saved. read more

Bought a used bike here about a year ago, the service was so so, treated as a bit of a second class citizen while looking at their used selection. Took the bike in today to have a tube replaced, and stem fixed. I asked how much they would give me for a trade in on a new bike, the answer was so low as to be an insult (about one fifth what I paid for it) in fact the repair cost more than what they were willing to give me for the bike! I can say I will most likely never darken their doorstep again. read more

I went there like a year ago, and they didn't help me at all. I went in to see if I could get my bike fixed, and I sat there for about 2 hours watching the guy say "I don't know whats wrong with it."....Then another guy came in, and he got is bike fixed (and we had both the same problem with our bikes...go figure!) in like 10 minutes. I spent about 3 or 4 hours there. The prices of the bikes are rediculous. (Like 400 bucks per bike!!) read more

I recently visited this store and was totally turned off. the man who I think was the owner was very rude and arrogant. he kept cutting me off, wouldn't let me fully explain what the problem I was having with my bike. he was also rude to another customer who came in and complained he had bought a new tube from him and it was defective.i had hoped this was a good place to go as I am new to the area but I will look elsewhere, don't need that kind of bullying. the shop looked nice but some things are more important than looks. read more

This is a great shop for experienced bicyclists or beginners. If you don't know much about bikes ( like me ) they will take the time to educate you on the most suitable bike for your style of riding. The bicycles aren't cheap, but you get people that will assist you with any issues you have - that won't happen at big volume stores. Plus they like dogs! Very friendly environment. read more
