Steve's proposal won-out (best price by a substantial margin, possible due to Advent A/C low overhead) - but what truly sold me were the outstanding reviews of his customer service (above and beyond every competitors customer ratings). We set a date I took off that day and in the morning they call to postpone it, saying they have some more urgent call, no respect for my time. I asked them what if I have an emergency on my A/C they said they will be able to come that day but they will charge $89 for diagnostic. We set an appointment few days later. The technician came and told me that one of the unit need a new blow motor. I have a full labor and part warranty from the MFR. but they charge me diagnostic charge off $89 + $ 150 what they call "processing fee" which is a simple money grab. sound to me to me like a form of classic bait and switch technique.( they came the flowing week and change the motor it took the technician only 15 minutes sharp to replace the motor, they got $150 from the MFG as Josh told me + 150 +89 =$389.) As far as the 2nd unit it was working perfectly well before they "serviced it" 2 hours after the technician left the system shut down and I noticed that the pan below the system which was bone dry was full of water water the technician said that I need a new drain line which they will charge $1000, Called other companies and replacing a drain line run $500-$800. Turned out that the drain line didn't needed a replacement but just a correct opening the clog. I did pay them the $ 150 "grab money" but they called me already twice to pay it. Just remember when something look too good to be true it probably is. Don't fall for their $29/$39 bait.

I had a new AC installed in 2023 with Grimes and since that time, I have had 4 service calls due to…read moreissues with the AC. The first issues was leaking and it was due to an issue which became my issue that I had to pay for. The following 3 times again leaking in the same place, they come out drain and in time it begins again. They do not cover labor after the first year but I paid for labor after the first incident which was less than a year, why because they installed it improperly which was my fault? The last 3 leaks are exactly what they said they fixed after less than a year that I paid for. After the first incident I called the manufacture and gave them the serial number of the unit, and it was not from 2023 but from 2021. I believe they sell used units and just rig the unit to get by. In the words of my dad, crooks! Side Note; I had already hired another company to continue with my maintenance since I was unhappy with them and they came out to service the AC November of 2025 and drained the unit, and here we are 5 months later with a leak. The only reason why I called Grimes again I assumed this issue would be under warranty, otherwise I would have called the new company to fix it. I am sure they would have charged me less than Grimes for "labor" cost.

I was later informed that this is not something they are able to do, which is important information for customers to be aware of when considering their options. During email communication, references were made to internal discussions regarding my inquiries about pricing and service. As a customer, I found that type of information unnecessary and not relevant to resolving the issue. Overall, while technician response time was strong, the communication and support from the office made it more difficult than expected to make an informed decision. I would recommend that customers ask detailed questions upfront about warranty coverage, labor costs, and how parts are handled if exploring alternative service options.
